You are able to see the nickname of who is messaging you so you always have the option of sending your contact information in the free messages that you send out to other members if you aren't ready to upgrade. Hello, Thank you for your comments. They will be taken into consideration for future site improvements. Roommates.com is an email based website and you always have the option to send an email to Customer Support 24/7. There is a phone number to call M-F 9am-4pm MST, but if someone is not available to answer, you always have the option of leaving a message so someone can get back to you. Roommates.com is a bulletin board service, so there is no way to weed out all the rotten apples, but if you provide a police report showing the person would be a danger to other members then we would definitely take further action. If you have a police report to provide please send it to support@roommates.com. Not all members log into their account frequently, especially if they are getting notifications to their email. If the member has not logged in for 30 days, they will get a notification that their account will be removed if they do not log in to keep their account active. Hello, This is Roommates.com Customer Support. We have the Match Plus feature. The MatchPlus option matches you with members who are looking for a place like you so that you can find a place together (as well as members who already have a room available). You may turn this feature on or off by clicking the MatchPlus link on the left hand side of the website under Account Settings, then Enable or Disable. The tabs at the top of the screen which read Members with Rooms Available and Members Looking for Rooms allow you to toggle between matches for both options. You can also try Realrentals.com if you are looking for a completely vacant home to rent rooms in. Hope this has helped. Hello, I’m sorry you came in contact with a scammer. Please be assured that we take very seriously scammers and improper use of our site. You may want to contact your local authorities as well as report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. You can do this by visiting their website at www.ic3.gov. We will be happy to assist the authorities in any way we can. Unfortunately, many times scammers don't make themselves known until they get you to email them through their private email address, which Roommates is not privy to. We do have a Scam Alert posted on the website that explains the type of common scam that is currently being perpetrated on this website as well as many others. We hope that this information will assist people in educating themselves so as not to fall victim to fraud. Every profile also has a Report Member button in the upper right hand corner that can be used to send the account information of a suspected scammer to our Fraud Department for review. You can also send the Nicknames and/or Email Address of any profile you believe to be fraudulent to scamalert@roommates.com. If the account is found to be fraudulent it will be deleted. It is up to the potential roommates to decide on how they will pay their deposit and monthly rent payments, but we will absolutely pass your suggestion along to our Development Team.
