Someone wants to sell me a vehicle but I must pay £7,000 through yourselves before I view, or receive the vehicle. Is this correct and how do I know my money is safe? After 4 days I can either accept the vehicle, or return it for a refund. How safe is that please?

Hi Elizabeth.

Thanks for your question. Yes, that is a possibility but not recommended. Note that generally, Escrow.com will release funds to the Seller at the end of the Inspection Period, as long as the Buyer has not declined the merchandise and Escrow.com has verified the Buyer's receipt. The Inspection Period is the specified amount of time agreed upon by both parties in which the Buyer may examine the merchandise/domain(s) after receipt. The Inspection Period begins when the Buyer marks the item as received, or Escrow.com verifies or receives confirmation that the merchandise/domain(s) or service has been delivered. The Buyer must accept or reject the goods within this period. If the Buyer has rejected and returned the merchandise, the Seller will be provided with a five day inspection period to examine the returned merchandise.

In order for the funds to be released before the vehicle is picked up, the Buyer will have to mark the transaction as received and accepted. For your and your Buyer's mutual protection, we strongly recommend for both parties to adhere to the general Escrow.com process.
