Does anyone think it reasonable for this company to delay paying a refund for up to 45 days and rely on the fact that they do not need to abide with regulation and code of conduct present in other EU states. To refer customers to their terms on conditions alone and offer nothing further is morally wrong and not good business, does anyone have a view on this?

They do not just delay. When something goes wrong, they never intend to make good ony any of their promises: they do not call or write back, they do not follow up, and sure as hell they do not pay you anything unless you force them to, and that (in my experience) can only be done via the courts.
This company is rotten and everyone should stay away from them.

In my experience, they'll never respond and hope that you'll just go away and forget about it. They ended up costing me more money that if I had just gone with my usual car rental company. Sorry to say, but there are many reviews that basically say the same thing. These guys don't deserve to be in business.

Their practice is totally unacceptable. I had to go through my credit card to get a refund after having to show them all the correspondence i had with Economy. Bookings. Let alone the fact that I had to pay a lot of money to get to my destination by taxi. I have no intention of using them again as their code of conduct shows clearly how unreliable and unprofessional they are.

I agree with the posters. A dreadful company. I paid for comprehensive insurance and subsequently mad a claim for some bonnet chips using their claim form. No response or e mails. When did reach them by phone they said claim was in hand and the Agent had been contacted. After 40 days I contacted the agent and he confirmed they hadn't been in touch. Basically they will ignore you and take your money under false pretenses.

I tried EconomyBookings once, never again. They took my money, and I didn't get a car. My flight was delayed and when I arrived at Barcelona airport at 11pm, the Gold Car office had closed. I called Economy Bookings, who arranged the hire, and they said I could collect the car next day. When I arrived next day, Gold Car had cancelled my booking and taken my money. When I tried to get redress through Economy Bookings, they refused point blank. A thoroughly shameful lack of service or cooperation - AVOID.

Usual response time for an email to their 'Customer Service' is 2-4 weeks. As has been said previously they seem to hope that customers with complaints will give up and go away. Avoid them at all costs and go with companies that are based in EU countries and have to abide by the rules and regulations.

Well,,, In my opinion you will pay any and all charges up front and will lose everything except the normal car rental part and some people will even lose that. I personally got ripped off on the refundable part of 114 euros. They said in a phone conversation that it was actually an insurance they provided without my knowledge and it would never be refunded! In other words they are 100% bull$#*! artists and thieves of the worst kind prying on everyone that uses their company. The governments that are allowing them to operate in all the different countries throughout the world should investigate their activities and shut them down for fraudulent activities and put them in prison to think about all the problems they are making for all the innocent people they are messing up. The company that rented me the car honored the rental part but said they never heard of Economy Booking before.

Every day they are cheating people and getting away with it. I faced same fraud. They charged me money and i got no car and no response to emails and no help on phone. What should we do to get our compensation and stp them cheating other innocent customers. My problem is with money supermarket in uk and green motion in uk as they are doing business with them and recommending them but none is willing to take responsibility. This company is only interested in charging our bank card and nothing else. They should be fined and banned asap. Frausters.

Yes, this is just they intend to do. You have a choice - to use their cheap services and hope that everything goes without problems; or to be sure of getting help when needed and use some another company.
