I'm assuming you mean expect and not except - dang autocorrect. It's a frequent topic and it has multiple dimensions to the issue. Basic answer is each lady and circumstance is different. Don't be surprised or alarmed if your lady friend asks for help. You should know that the average Ukrainian lives on $200-$300 per month. They often choose not to eat in order to buy a new pair of shoes. Some ladies have good jobs and do not want or need support. If this is an issue for you, keep looking till you find a woman who makes pretty good money in Ukraine and date her. But for a majority of the ladies, the answer is as your relationship grows, and the feelings deepen between the two of you, you should step up and support her (and any children). She wants her husband to be a "strong wal, l" that is a family-oriented man who takes care of his family. Ukrainian men rarely have to pay alimony or child support. It all falls upon the single mother to provide for herself and her kids when she gets divorced. In the beginning of the relationship, you want to sense that she is protective of your money and does not want you to overpay for something. I walked many, many places with my wife when I would have preferred the $2 taxi ride or the 10 cent bus ride. At the same time, be sensitive to the fact that if you want to communicate frequently with her you should want to make sure that she has internet access in her home and a tablet or smartphone on which to communicate. I left my used iPad behind and she was thrilled. A cellphone plan in Ukraine costs about $8 US per month for something that we would pay $50-100 in America. I always say that Ukraine is an easy country in which to be generous. By the time you are engaged and putting the information for a K-1 visa together, you should be making sure that you are impacting her life in a positive way before she comes to America. It's hard to fall in love over the internet and Skype, but you can make each new visit with her during the wait for a K-1 visa better than the last by constantly demonstrating that you are the kind of man that she has always wanted to find. Continue that type of behavior in your marriage and you will be a happy man. Hope that helps.
