I have the free basic membership on care.com and when i try to read the messages from people that replied to my application i get a small rectangle that says unlock and get premium. do i have to get premium to read the messages? please help as soon as possible!

Answer:

Yes. Sign up for 1 month with their discount code of 20% off. On day 27, downgrade the paying account to a free account. They will then offer you $5./mo, vs $39. To stay. Accept. Cancel in 5.9 months.

Once you respond to a person looking for child care. what happens? does care.com forward your info to the potential employer?

Answer:

As a former paid employer, I can tell you that the info I received was dependent on the child care provider. Some of them included contact info on their profile (though that's not recommended by Care.com as Care.com would like you to keep all your interactions on their website, and they claim that you are more secure in doing so). So, if the caregiver chose, we would just message back and forth on Care.com until they felt confident enough to share more contact info with us. For us, that varied - some caregivers immediately gave us their phone number after we gave them ours. Others preferred to arrange a meeting in a public place to ensure that we weren't some crazy stalker, and then exchanged private information then. As honest parents, we were quite comfortable with the latter. We know of clear fraud perpetrated on both sides on Care.com, and the Care.com team couldn't care less, so be cautious.
