Yes, out of Shanghai. They call them quilts because of the block stitching you see on most quilts. You can see the stitching in photos of the lighter colored "quilts". They fail to show the stark white stitching on the dark hued blue and purple quilts. I believe they photograph them prior to the stitching going in because the white on dark is very distracting and cheapens the overall appearance. However, and it's a big however, they are the thickness of two sheets being sewn together with another in between the two for the filling. They are less than 1/4" thick. Soft and comfortable.
I believe they are made in China, not sure. I think they are made to order, I ordered a similar item, (dragonfly quilt), might have been from another maker, but it did take almost 2 months because the demand was high. The appearance is that of a quilt, cross stitches across the whole area, it would make a great quilt (bed cover) as for the warmth I cannot tell, these are intended as Christmas gifts. I think they will definitely have some warming qualities, too.
