Here’s what consumers have asked with answers from Ancestry staff and previous consumers.
Call their 800 number, cancel your renewal (they won't cancel a membership before, and and they NEVER issue a refund), and GET A CANCELLATION CODE NUMBER! If you get charged again, you can call them back with the code number and then (and only then) get a refund. You can cancel online under "Your Account"/"Subscription Options"/"Cancel Subscription" but when I tried that option once, I was renewed anyway, and when I called, the rep said their records did not show a cancellation request. Thus, I strongly recommend calling if you can find the number. They have apparently removed all phone numbers from their site.
Yes you can get the free two weeks. You have to give them your credit card information because they count on you not knowing you need to cancel before they start billing you at the and of the two weeks. What they don't explain clearly is that you have to actually cancell the free subscription PRIOR to the two week ending period. I would cancel it the very next day after signing up. You will still be allowed the two weeks. Then if you like it you can resubscribe. Always cancel a few days prior to whatever your sub date ending is or they WILL continue charging you and you will not get a refund of any kind.
