No, if they want to talk to you with whatsapp is fine, this way they have a more closely chat with you, but if they ask you to pay with cashapp or western union dont buy and if they tell you to do an outside Alibaba transaction dont do it, i just got scammed on 3/18/20 from a guy who worked at Rocky Salts for $395 dollars. I have multiple years experience on the Alibaba platform, and they actually offer the best protection, hands down. Their are scammers and bad actors everywhere, but any reputable company will do their due diligence... and as Steven said, Alibaba makes that easy.
Always make sure you conduct all transactions and conversations on Alibaba. By doing so, you maintain all conversations and agreements. Should there be a problem, Alibaba will give you the option to file a complaint, which they will immediately hold all monies and intervene.
I have been too from gold members who use trade assurance. Make sure you let them know you wont pay with western union and ask for other options. If they aren't going to budge, run
