According to 99design, they are supposed to refund your money as long as you do not guarantee the prize money, which was my error. I had enough good designs that I liked that I chose to do that with the intent on getting more designs. I did, but they were not as good. The issue with me was after I selected a design, the designer sent me emails saying I had to pay for the image, which was not noted in 99design literature (at least I never found it). I refused and 99design persuaded the designer to use free images. After selecting a design, I had to award the money to get the files. When I did so, the designer sent me files that were not editable nor could be used for a book cover. Long story short, 99design sided with the designer (they did not provide a reason) and I ended up with nothing for my money.

In the end you'll pick your favourite as the winner, and the designer will then provide you with everything you need to own the logo outright. This will include: the high-resolution files, and full copyright ownership so you can use your logo on business cards, brochures and your website - really anything you need to produce for successfully marketing your business. 99 Designs will pressure you through fraudulent claims to guarantee the prize money. If you do, you have to pay. I fell for their scam and not only lost my money, but the file for the book cover design from Alex_82 was not usable. 99 Designs refused to help me and I ended up with nothing and lost my money. Another issue, if you pick a design, you have to pay, but the designer does not hold the rights to the drawings. Alex_82 did this to me, also. He demanded that I pay for the rights and, because I had awarded the design to him, I could not cancel the contest. It is better to find someone in your local area.
