“TD Insurance refused to assist after my MVA in Feb 2023”

TD Insurance is not there for you when you need them. I got in to an unfortunate accident in Feb of 2023 and TD Insurance required me to fork out upfront money before I got the rental car. I called everywhere including their customer complaints office SCCO, but no one helped. A manager, Giulianna only returned my 4 voice mail messages 3 weeks after the fact. Vishal the property damages adjuster rubbed salt on my injuries when requesting for assistance

This is my 2nd year with TD and never submitted any claims with them. They decide to increase my home insurance monthly payment by more than 50 % 6 months after the start of my second year contract. I have been trying hard to convince them to cancel the contract with no penalties but no answer. People who answer you do not have the authority or the competence to make decisions. A complete disappointment.

Tip for consumers:
Client service is very very poor and they do not care at all.

This company still uses all the old tag lines when you call them, "we're experiencing a higher number of calls..." "we've been having website issues today..." etc., as excuses for not having people available to take calls or webpages that don't work. The website crashed as soon as it took my credit card information, and email confirmation was not sent, so I didn't know if I had coverage until the charge showed up on my credit card statement. Then I had to start all over again trying to reach someone to have the policy information sent.
There is no email contact information, and you'll have to wait through recorded messages longer than the Bible before they put you in the queue to wait to speak with someone. Something that should have taken 10 - 15 minutes online took almost three hours to complete.
Hard to believe no one at TD is checking this to see how poor the service is. Embarrassing, to say the least.

I had a very simple call about an insurance policy matter and I waited a full thirty-five minutes on line in order to speak with a representative. The man who eventually came on the line was helpful, but the wait was excruciating. Surely TD Meloche Monnex can do better than this.

90 minutes on hold and still waiting to file my claim.
What a joke this company is. I have been with them for car and home insurance for 30 years and you get zero customer service.
They answered the phone after 75 minutes with a customer service rep that could not speak clearly then put me on hold again. Going on 2 hours now - wonder if they will answer. Time to transfer all our insurance to a new company.

They treat their life long customers with NO respect, no service, no value.

Td needs to change how they quote with their online quotes. The online quotes are completely misleading. They will quote u one low price and once u have signed up and paid and policy is activated and u r stuck with them, they change the quote to more than double the original estimate. Either your online system is completely garbage or purposely designed to lure customers into signing up just so you can charge them double later. I have tried getting estimates from many many online insurance retailers no one does this. If they can't gruntee a quote they don't sell it to you until an agent has looked into it. So please fix your system.

I used the Web quote online, and signed up in advance (over a month and a half before policy started) under the impression that they did a background check and informed me of any increases before then... because they had my driver's license number and took my deposit after all.

Then, TD Insurance decided to jack up the premium significantly after performing their background checks, a week AFTER my policy has started. Whenever I decided to not agree with the increased premium and go with another company, they threatened to charge a cancellation fee.

Classic bait and switch scam.

The worst car insurance experience with service of 11 years experience in canada.Always higher price,worst customer services.worst staff and worst.if any body want zero value for money.go for it.

Worst in all experience.any body call .moment they will experience the difficulties first to reach a customer service, from there again.total waste for money

I had an accident back in Jan 2023, I am still waiting on income replacement. I call multiple times ans get voicemail but no returns calls. Generally emails are returned as they are out of office. They don't have manager I am told. I havw asked for months to speak to a manager about how delayed my reimbursement is. They all Send you to different lines to wait on hold only to speak to another person about the same issue over an over nobody has any answers. I am beyond dissapointed. Don't waste your time or money like I did, go anywhere else for insurance. Brutal. I give them zero stars!

I have insured with TD Insurance for years and loved their customer service. I used to get someone in Halifax, Nova Scotia who spoke English well and was more than willing to assist. I have never spent more than a few minutes getting service unless I was doing something very complicated. But that has disappeared. They have outsourced and the phone connections are poor and the spoken English is hard to understand. Spent over two hours this morning trying to transfer my car insurance due to a move and they hung up twice aa nd mostly I was on hold. Then when I thought it was finally transferred she asked if I still wanted BOTH policies. Well, why would I want to drive a car from two different addresses when I had started out by changing my address. I finally gave up and cancelled and will use a local insurance firm where they have customer service. I may pay more but I don't care. I cannot ever deal with their customer service again. I asked if I could go into their local office and sort this out. They said no- everything goes through their centre. Don't bother. Just find another insurer. It is a shame because I used to praise their amazing service which was among the best out there.

We receiving an official letter from TD insurance as a response to our claim, that hail damage on our roof will be paid by TD insurance in ftull $5700. 00. All of a sudden, they CHANGE their mind, they came up, only by phone conversation that, they will paid for damage hail only $300.00? We can't get their response in writing, would a normal person put a claim through for $300.00 when he has a deductible premium of 1500. 00 and then his insurance will increase?
But main principle here is - which replies you take it as valid, the first or second? Could this insurance go zig-zag and reversed their minds? Made you very suspicious, how can you trust their words/letters?

Been with TD Insurance for over 20yrs, used to be a good company. Now, not so much, wait times to speak with an advisor are ridiculous - then they hang up on you….pricing has steadily increased over the years and service has steadily gone down. Choose a different company, also one that doesn't use AI to deal with you over the phone.

Today I had the most excruciatingly horrible customer service call with "Gulshandeep", who absolutely DELIGHTED in making my call as annoying as possible. I told her I wanted coverage for a motorcycle with only liability, and she went out of her way to prolong the call to get me to purchase additional coverage.
I told her 5-10 times to stop trying to get me to purchase additional coverage and she delighted in arguing with me and ignoring my requests multiple times. I believe that if the call is recorded, she's going in for retraining, if not being outright fired.
She also put me on hold three times, for an inordinate length of time, just for extra giggles.
When I finally got the chance to complain to her supervisor, Logan, I was informed that she hadn't done anything wrong and that is the policy. Customer service is no longer important, I was told, but they are obligated to offer additional coverage, even after being told not to multiple times.
So there you are. These people don't care about their customers; all they care about is trying to sell you extra coverage and if this annoys you? TOO BAD.

When I began the claim, almost 2 years ago, I was told I was not able to pick the contractor I wanted from their list that I would get the next one in line. Assuming they had done their due diligence, I accepted their terms.
They had to move a floating deck to put on the siding which was fine but when it came to putting it back, they decided to strong arm a 10x20ft. Wood deck with 3 guys. I told them at that time it was not a good idea but they were insistent. They have not been able to get the deck bottom 2x4 s back into the slotted concrete blocks since. In one month, I have been told that TD Insurance will no longer handle this - that I am to handle it with the contractor.
They had to replace some of the outside trim that they lost over the process and that was done but not all the window seams were sealed. I then decided that I would like to stain the wood trim rather than paint it and they will not allow that. I have told them I will provide the stain but my adjuster Lydia said that "I do not get to tell them what to do" and they will not be staining the trim - that it must be painted white. Can you imagine the utter nonsense. I have lessend their bill by providing the stain and she has told me they will not allow that.

Tip for consumers:
I have had 2 years of frustration with the company and I will never deal with them or recommend them again.
