Just charged me almost 400 dollars for energy on a 1.5 wide mobile home, and won't put street lights on my road because they're pro crime. I get things stolen all the time when lights would deter thieves. The more visibility, the less crime. It's been proven before. I am ashamed to see this mark itself as a republican company.

Update: Duke Energy is now estimating the outage at 25 house and counting

When you consistently face the same excuse for Duke Energy power outages you have to point that their management does not care about their Customers health and well being. As I write we are in the longest outage power outage 18 hours just because some trees fell on power lines. What would happen if a real major storm hit us. We would be out for months at this rate? It's time to complain to your Governor, Congressman and state officials and demand something be done. Duke Energy CEO and President for the Carolinas should be fired.

In my opinion Duke is the absolute worst electric company out there!
Seriously.
The only thing they're reliable with is their unreliability.
The power goes out All of the time, with Remc customers two houses away Never losing their electricity.
Then it takes Duke DAYS to return service.
& I am Not exaggerating. We have gone 4 days without electricity before.
Currently on day 2 of a new outage as I type this.
Absolutely ridiculous.
I truly despise this company and wish that I never have to have their 'service' again.

They went up 20% for using their business. Who does that but a corrupt greedy enterprise? Way to hurt the people who are trying to feed their families and pay their bills in this current economy.

Duke had to replace the service drop at my home yesterday and as I watched at least 4 people STAND AROUND FOR 2 HOURS and do nothing at all. Plus they blocked driveways of other people forcing them to park across the street from their OWN property because there was an extra 3 trucks that just sit there.
THIS IS WHY WE PAY DUKE ENERGY SO MUCH AND CANT GET ANYTHING DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER WITH THEM!?

Upon research on the internet I found a lot of information about what Brookfield is doing with the purchase of Duke Energy of the US. Unfortunately the rise in cost of power and incompetency (to recoup the cost of the purchase of Duke Energy and passed the cost on to their customers) of Brookfield feeling about spending the extreme cost of the purchase of Duke Energy and feel that they need to be repaid (Totally dismissing the cost of doing Business) to Brookfield by their Millions of customers'. Duke Energy is the most expensive, yet the least reliable company. Too many power outages, and terrible customer service. When you call them you only get to speak with customer service reps from India or elsewhere who are using American names. They seem to be reading from a script. No matter what you try to explain to them they keep repeating the same thing. Unfortunately, most of us don't have a choice we can only have Duke Energy as electricity in our area. We are being held against our own will with this HORRIBLE company. They need to be investigated by the feds. I wish I could rate them a 0 star.

I have had solar power for a year and a half and Duke decides to change the type of meter used to calculate electric used and electric sent back to the grid. When the meter was changed without powering down the solar system it fried my power inverter. The inverter was warrantied and the solar insulation company replaced it without cost. It took 15 days to get the system up and running and Duke refused to reimburse me for the lost. I have an app that shows what was produced on each day but they wouldn't except that so I called PUCO which regulates the utilities in Ohio. They contacted Duke and Duke takes 25 dollars off my next bill. It was something but I lost half a month's power in July which is the highest production of the year. Now 6 months later I received an email stating Duke had found a calculation error and will be refunding solar customers affected.

If you are purchasing a home PLEASE look outside of a Duke neighborhood. 17cents a kwh yet FLP is only 12. Why so much more? Last hurricane I lost power for 5 days. Next street over was FLP and the NEVER lost power? Why? Where was my 17 cent golden power? Seriously. Next home I purchase will not be in a Duke area.

I called on Friday to get service. We were new to the state. They charged me $100 Activation fee. Unfortunately, the complex put me in another apt due to a few minor issues. When I called Duke to fix this, they charge me another $100. Are you kidding me? They seem to be all Abt the money. Horrible

For the record, Duke has reliably delivered power and gas for me. That said, I signed up for the level payment plan for the year so I can better manage my costs of living. Since the beginning of the year they have raised my monthly bill in steps from $280 a month to $490 a month. That does not sound very level to me. I checked in my energy consumption and my gas and electricity use is pretty much the same as it was last year. I think they're trying to accumulate an interest-free loan from me via their level payment plan. I won't be using that in the future. I don't recommend you do either.

Tip for consumers:
Do not trust their level payment plan to be level. Expected to go up by nearly 100% over the course of a year.

I've spoken with an agent today about my account having wrong name on billing and wrong social security number, when speaking with the agent I wanted to know who was fixing my account as the agent aka candy as she calls herself she needed to verify with another representative about fixing my account. When I asked who was the person that was fixing my account name, the agent said it was Angle, when I asked if I can speak with angle, candy the representative that I was speaking with said she can't do that and she won't do it, I said if you have all my information on file and SSN I should be able to speak with the agent Angle. The reply I get is we are not allowed to have any customers speak with the agent that is handling our information, I respond but yet you guys have all my information on file, you know my driver's license and social security and you know where I live, it's only fair that I can speak with the person who is fixing my account! I really don't trust this company, the agents use a different name to cover up and act as if they are speaking with another representative to make themselves look good, all I'm saying is if the person is fixing the account we have the right to know who it is, that way if they mess up we know who it is to blame, they need to take more accountability, I smell something fishy here, because they can use the customers info and create a fraud account

Shortly after I moved to Kentucky, Duke Energy became the provider in Fort Thomas. Almost immediately, flat line winds took down power for over a week here. Duke Energy took their time getting it back up again. We were all cooking on Coleman stoves on our patios. All of the food in our freezers thawed and rotted.

Two days ago an outage occurred following a severe thunderstorm. Duke Energy got the power back up in my neighborhood, but stranded my over 90 year old father in Southgate, two exits up the road. The temperatures outside were above 90 degrees. When I called Duke Energy, I was told I had to go pick him up. I don't have a working car. Then, the woman hung up on me.

I then complained to everyone I could think of in government and in public utilities. Miraculously, his power was back on in one hour.

One of the things Duke Engergy told me before they hung up was that, my father had to apply for medical emergency status. How he is supposed to do that without power is beyond me. I just went onto Duke Energy's site, and apparently that's not available in Kentucky at all, so they lied. On top of this, we aren't even eligible to produce our own power with solar panels, probably because we are totally a cash cow in our support of their coal industry.

Where are we? Bangladesh? What kind of place is this?

Give me a break.

This needs to be fixed. Like now. My father has an oxygen concentrator. He's in his 90's. Apparently this is an ongoing problem in Southgate--right next to a country club.

Give me a break!

I signed up for autopay in April 2022. By doing so, I agreed for my Duke Energy bill to be taken out of my account on a monthly basis.

I did not initially receive bills from Duke Energy and therefore called Duke to ensure my account details were correct. I was told they were, and it was confirmed that I was signed up for autopsy.

In July, I received an $11,000 charge from Duke Energy. I called in to investigate the charge, was told the charge was made in error, and the charge was reversed.
I received a charge on October 11,2022 for the amount of $864. I called in to Duke Energy to investigate and was told Duke had not been charging me monthly because of the erroneous $11,000 charge and that when Duke corrected the $11,000 error, it triggered the system to charge me in one lump sum for the entire 6 months I had been living in my home.

I did my duty as a customer. I signed up for autopay where I agreed to be charged on a monthly basis. I called in multiple times when I noticed Duke was not fulfilling its agreement and taking the bill out of my account monthly. Duke charged me $11,000 in error which had prevented its system from taking my bill out monthly. Duke has now, without my permission, charged me in one lump sum for a 6 month period, although I had only agreed to pay monthly.

I have since received over $100 in overdraft fees from my bank and am placed in a status of financial hardship.

I do not understand how a company could care so little about their customers, their well-being, and so little so that they would cause them financial hardship even though the customer did what they were supposed to and the fault lies with the company. I wish I could have resolved this with the company, but they said they would reach out and never did...terrible...just terrible.

I have been a Duke customer for 14 years now - SO they have gotten more than $50,000 from me. I added solar to my home and now they implement a $30 minimum bill saying, "this is to make it fair for all customers" What a crock. This minimum bill was created to directly discourage Solar installations... in "the sunshine state"! And don't be fooled by their "CLEAN ENERGY CONNECTION" program aka CEC. These solar farms they boast are not built on wastelands, they are built in places where there is ecosystems. They are now shading an area that hasn't been shaded and creating a "carbon footprint." Your home has ALREADY made its carbon footprint. What better place to put solar than on your home which already exists. The only time the CE makes sense, is for a home/condo owner who realistically cant benefit from putting solar on their home. Duke implements a "minimum fee" as a cost for being on the grid, and their profits soar to a net worth of over $14 billion!

In 2020 I received a refund check from Duke Energy which I had not cashed in 2022 I pulled my invoices for electric service for 2020 to access my account on reviewing my invoices I noticed that I had attached the refund check to these invoices and noticed that I had not cashed this check. On January 7,2022 I called Duke Energy and told them about the un cashed check they told me that this money was turned over to the state of Florida and that I should contact the state, I did so and was told that the state had no record of this money being turned over to the state and that I needed get a UPID number from Duke and the date that the money was turned over to the state after many calls to Duke Energy they would not provide me with any information to give to the state. I called state again and asked if they would look again to see if the state received this money the person I talked to at the state checked for the entire tear of 2021 and I was told that they had not received this money for year 2021. Bottom line all I was getting from Duke Energy was nothing a the run around in hopes that I would go away Duke has radio commercial stating that Duke is here to help you where is the help in this case. Amazing how someone can steal your money and tell you to get lost! I wonder how other persons have had this done to them.

I use to think Duke was a passable energy company but not anymore. Notice the constant rate increases? Check this out...
DUKE CEO Lynn Good salary
2021--14M
*2022--21M*
I recommend you research the website and you will find they give out 20k grants(free money) to NGO's who disperse YOUR money to people in this country illegally. Duke had the nerve to send out emails asking people to donate money to help others pay for energy costs. WHAT? How about the CEO donate HER wealth and lower the cost where it is affordable for ALL citizens! Please contact Duke, your energy commissioner and Governor DeSantis and file a formal complaint. This is absolutely appaling and unethical on every level!
PS. I'm a Florida resident where it gets 95 plus degrees!
UPDATE: Power OUTAGES on a HOT day. This is what commie company's do when you speak the TRUTH!

Duke energy will provide power to anyone, without any proof of residency. Due to Duke not requiring proof of residency, like a lease, they provided power to squatters in my home for months. These people had no lease or other paperwork showing that they were legally residing in the home. When the squatters were discovered, Duke refused to provide the name of the person whom the service was provided for. Even to the Sherriff.
So, squatters destroyed my house, and without so much as a question, Duke provided the power for them to do so...

I don't care about the website. I have made close to 100 calls to Duke, only to be sworn at, laughed at, hung up on and lied to. They raised my bill thru the roof with no warning. They then abused me for 8 hours, telling me there was no way to assist me weiht the bill. After 57 conversations, filthy name calling, etc, I was told that-"oh yeah, there is a way... we just don't like to make it known." I was blatently lied to and ignored. RIght now, I am on hold after my 32nd hang up. Then I am called abusive not not being Suzy Sunshine.
