Where the hell do I begin with this god awful service. I've been using SoundCloud for 5 years and in my experience it's been such a $#*!ty ride. I've owned multiple accounts each amassing over 1k in followers. Dealing with its god awful service for this long has taken quite a toll me.
Let's start off with the platforms main function.
Uploading, god is it terrible. Uploading music on SoundCloud is free at first glance. However, for artist that plan on building their foundation upon this platform it's a $#*!ty trap to keep artists who do garner an audience in to pay for the pro unlimited service that they offer once you exceed your upload quota. Even so, track upload quality is terrible. For years SoundCloud has had this issue. Audio quality is always processed to sound like it was rendered in 96khz. Sometimes, tracks will even get stuck processing for an indefinite amount of time. All this for $10 a month. I should even mention they had a cheaper plan at one point for pro, but as of late they have been quietly and gradually removing it. Nothing short of SoundCloud's business ethic.
SoundCloud support. This has to be the worst support to ever grace the internet, and quite possible be the most terrible support ever. With a Twitter account that has amassed over 45k followers, it has been running off of bot and automated responses for as long as anyone can remember. The support ticket system is utterly useless, as 99% of a time a bot is sent to automate responses to your questions. This applies to all support queries, including legal disputes! Hell, if someone falsely claims your song with no grounds to do so, SoundCloud won't do $#*! and will instead tell you to $#*! off and DM that person yourself to ask SoundCloud to remove it. With an almost non existent staff to help support their customers, you have to wonder where all of this pro money is going.
Bots, and the absolute worst case of them yet. Any song you upload, whether it be an old account or a new account you just made, upload one song and within a minute you can bet to see 1-5 bots liking or commenting on your track telling you about their website that allows you to grow faster as an artist on Soundcloud. These bots have been running rampant on SoundCloud for as long as anyone can remember, and there is no end to the variation and spam they produce.
Conclusion, SoundCloud is a god awful terrible platform. It's very unfortunate that a lot of artist that use this platform are chained to it as there are not many other alternatives that are as popular or familiar. With the amount of users still supporting SoundCloud, I don't see them listening to the problems so many of their users actually have, as SoundCloud is infamous for not even paying attention to their community one bit.
