Buyer beware! Downy Nissan, either put them way down on your shopping list or better yet
Scratch them off all together. Review comes from someone that first of all is brutally honest!
Sees black and white and no in between, no gray areas here, has a warm honest heart and
Likes to think that so do others! THEY DON'T! Not by any stretch of the imagination!
We like to think the humidity is progressing in the right direction, with that thought in mind I
Tried really hard to shake off the stereo type view, mentality/image of a car salesperson of the
70's, 80's, 90's etc... Christ forgive me for being naive and wrong! They are alive and well! Shame on me for putting trust and letting my guard down with the folks/snakes at Downey Nissan...
I'm a humble Midwestern boy with old school morals and values that's been saving, planning to purchase a Nissan GT-R for about four years now, due to work, family, life, limited time etc... the internet was the tool of choice in my search.
Downey Nissan was offering one of these vehicles, falsely advertised (MINT) used 2018 with
1800 miles which caught my eye. I say falsely advertised for couple different reasons, first of all
The car was far from MINT! (definition of MINT; denotes the quality of a pre-owned good
As displaying no imperfections and being in pristine condition relative to its original production
State) I was assured over and over and over again that the car was flawless the original buyer was a regular, only had the car for a month and returned it do to a financial situation the car was mint don't worry I was told again and again! Also the dealer wanted almost $3000 on top of the advertised asking price for so-called dealer added options! I should have turned away right there and then!
Once again I went against my better judgment and did not follow my gut instinct, site on
Seen (note to self and everyone else never ever, ever buy a vehicle unseen and trust car sales
Person! A specially when it comes to used)!
After couple weeks of negotiating we agreed on a price $1900 above the asking price for a so called mint condition vehicle. Upon completion of all necessary paperwork/down payment
Etc... I made arrangements to have my (MINT) dream vehicle transported to its new home. Did I
Mention that I'm brutally honest and was told over and over and over again that this vehicle
Was mint! I think I did lol... I was told that the vehicle went thru their vigorous inspection and everything checked out A OK! Christ I even received a few photographs/video that were cleverly taken from a distance where any imperfections would be virtually impossible to see! I will make sure to mention this vigorous inspection to the BBB!
Few days later the vehicle shows up in my driveway, smiling driver congratulates me while
He hands me transportation sheet and wants to go over with me with all the imperfections of
The vehicle! Says your aware of these sir correct? As one can imagine I stood there shocked at
What I was looking at, I signed his paperwork and got him on his way not his problem while I
Tried to collect my thoughts while my anger was growing by the second.
There were nine imperfections on the trip sheet of my so-called MINT vehicle after taking a
Close look I found around dozen of them including a curb rash on the right rear wheel which the
Dealer painted in attempt to fix and cover-up, yet somehow failed to find in the vigorous inspection!
Obviously I contacted the dealer angry and disgusted looking for answers, after some finger pointing I was told that they were going to do whatever it takes to make things right and make sure I was happy! For starters had they been honest like I was and not lied we wouldn't have to do anything to make me happy, after all I got my dream car right!
I'm trying to see things from their perspective, what was their thinking process was I not
Going to see all these things?! Seriously were talking about 100 K car here and regardless of the
Price even more importantly we're talking about principles, honesty, integrity which the folks at Downey Nissan have none what so ever! Blatant liars!
I thought about keeping the vehicle since in my thoughts they are offering to make things right, so I shipped it to a local Nissan dealer to have a thorough pre-buy inspection to make sure there aren't any other issues with it mechanical etcsomething I should have done in first place! Once again shame on me! Local dealer did not find any mechanical problems with the vehicle but were shocked that I was not made aware of all the cosmetic damages? Shame on me once again for being honest and trustworthy.
Downey Nissan to make things right offered me new rear wheel and $1000 towards any repairs needed, at first I thought to myself that's fair I guess i though about excepting it. After contacting the local dealer to see how much it would cost to bring the vehicle in the so-called mint condition! The gentleman screeched his face and told me sir to bring the vehicle in mint condition you're looking at somewhere between $4000 to $6000 maybe more!
At that point I was done I insisted to return the vehicle, Downey Nissan agreed to take it back,
Why wouldn't they, they blatantly lied about the condition but asked that I pay the
Transportation fees. I asked that they cover at least one away transportation since none of this
Would be taking place had they not lied, mislead and been honest with me in first place!
Breakdown of my $3000 lesson courtesy of Downey Nissan; transport each way $1200 total $2400, transport from my home to local dealer $200 each way $400 total, inspection $150 plus time, frustration anxiety etc
Im sure we all know or may guess the answer to that request!
The answer was NO "we cannot compensate transport. Normal dealers do not reverse sales of
Sold vehicles. Happy Holidays"
Seriously do normal dealers blatantly lie as well?! Downey Nissan does! Will pray for them.
Buyer beware do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere! One would like to think that there is some good out there and that there are some dealers that are honest and have some honesty and integrity!
Sincerely Captain Steve

DANGER, DANGER Will Robinson STAY AWAY! I'm giving one star to these pathetic money suckers cause I can't give minus one. By mistake in a rush made a mistake using third party NEVER use 3rd party use direct. Travel plans changed had to cancel at 4pm, these scammers charged me $130 cancellation fee! What customer service they have said I cancelled outside cancellation window( seriously 4 pm is too late to cancel!) some rude lady spoke broken English tried to convince me that I cancelled after midnight, not sure on what planet she was on I had the email to prove cancellation email was confirmed at 4pm. She started raising her voice and screaming like s lunatic which at that point I hung up. The B**** had enough nerve to call me st midnight and tell me I'm rude and hung up( seriously) at this point I got pissed so I called them back and talk to some Brian guy which ended up being a real prize! Said he was going to call the hotel and see what he can do about refund, apparently he forgot to put me on hold on the open line heard him in the background say to someone let that $#*! wait at that point I was curious to see what was going to happen after 18 minutes of laughing and giggling in the background I hung up. These people are scum how the BBB or the government does not go after them is shame!
Do your self a favor and stay away from booking.CON
