I have a VPS with 247-host. The services are good and never had any serious problems. They do not upgrade the server software ever, until they have no choice and then they moved me to a new server. At that point I was so out of date that my sites were at high risk for hackers and malware. My SQL database kept corrupting. That stopped after they finally upgraded by server software to current versions.

The extra charges for cPanel are ridiculous. I signed up with unlimited instances of cPanel and then trying to reduce instances down was a lot of work. I was trying to understand why the charges were so high and if I could reduce the new extra fees by getting my cPanel instances down. I was told that 1-5 was the lowest tier and that was going to cost $14 per month over an above my agreed contract price. Fortunately for me I was already on a monthly plan as my "special" new customer pricing expired years ago. They do not offer any discount for longer terms after the initial signup. If you go to a 24 month term, you will pay the exact same as the monthly. So why bother? The attitude I received when trying to understand how there was no single cPanel tier included, made me question why I was supporting this company.

I finally got everything down to 4 cPanel instances and started being billed $14 extra. Then I read that new Customers get one cPanel included. If I had been told that, I would have reduced to one. I never needed any more than one, but it was just a way to separate them. I have them all accessible from one user anyway.

I decided the shop around and see what is out there. If I must make more changes to keep the cost down, it maybe easier to find a new host. I was successful in finding a new host. The cost after the new customer discount is still less than half the cost of 247-host. The attitude caused me to save a lot of money over the coming years.

The new host transferred all my cPanels to a new non-cPanel alternative. This ensure that I am not held hostage by cPanel changing the terms and causing huge increases in everyone's costs. They are the photobucket of hosting tools.

Technically, the server uptime is good

Customer Service for technical = Good
Billing Customer Service - BAD

Value for $ in 2022 = poor

Tip for consumers:
Managed VPS does not including automatic updates to keep server safe and secure.
