If you are considering buying or selling with Tradesy, don't. They peddle fake designer goods, and they know they do it. Use eBay instead.

I've been selling REAL, AUTHENTIC designer clothes and accessories online for approx. 13 years. I also occasionally purchase gently used designer clothing online, but less frequently than I sell. Tradesy was recommended to me by a friend, and I thought it was basically an eBay specifically created for designer clothing and accessories. I was excited about this and posted approx. 12 items to sell on the site.

Two of the 12 items sold within 2 weeks. The other items are just sitting there. This is incredibly slow compared to eBay -- where you can see who is watching your items and page views -- so I believe the site just doesn't get much traffic. Or, if people look, they aren't buying. Perhaps this is because sellers have to mark up items significantly because their commissions are so large.

Another frustrating point: Keep in mind they take a 12% commission if you want to transfer money out of the site. 12%! Now that I know the site a bit better and compare merchandise between Tradesy and eBay (most of the sellers post their merchandise on both platforms), a $1299 bag listed on Tradesy will be listed for $799 on eBay. Why? Because Tradesy's commissions and upcharge for shipping are ridiculous. They upcharge for USPS shipping because then if you pay their super high fees, they will deal with any claim (apparently) if the product disappears.

Tradesy does make it easy to apply credit in your account to purchases through the site. I made the mistake of purchasing a Miu Miu bag with credit from a seller who has hundreds of items listed. The bag arrived from China (I think they should have to advise if you're going to get a bag from the land of knock-offs; I wouldn't have purchased it to begin with). I purchase at least 2-4 bags from Miu Miu every year, and have for the past several years, and the minute I touched the bag I knew it was a fake. In addition, I was in possession of the same style of bag (different color and with some slight differences) and could compare them literally side by side. The fake's leather was very heavy, not soft, and it had an absolutely horrible smell of chemical dyes. The leather strap was also obviously not the same. It was thinner, cheaper, and did not resemble the original -- it was actually the strap that was the giveaway. Well, that and the horrible toxic smell. That Chinese bag was a high-quality knock-off, using maybe even real hardware from the back side of the factory, but it wasn't a real Miu Miu.

I returned the bag and Tradesy sent me an email advising me that their team of brand specialists verifies that the bag is an original Miu Miu. It's not. Thus, it is obvious that Tradesy is a scam site because any reputable site would *want* to curb the sale of fake bags, because if one were to receive a fake, there is no incentive to keep buying and paying top commissions. Perhaps their "brand specialists" are 22 years olds who have never actually owned designer handbags, but I will promise you, NO Italian bag makes you want to throw up when you smell it.

Look on the site: There are lots of sellers who post pictures not of real handbags that they are in possession of, but rather of 1 stock picture and claim that they have some relationship with the company where they can have access to plenty of these bags and sell them below retail. They are obviously selling fakes. Tradesy should clear the site of the sellers who are obviously selling fakes, but then it occurs to me they would go out of business, because that is clearly their business model -- sell fakes and should someone actually know, just give them store credit and deny there is a problem.

A friend posited that the company is likely a front for Chinese sellers to peddle knock-offs to the American market, and I hate to say it, but it may be. If the company policy is to do nothing at all about fakes, then they are actively supporting the knock-off market from China.

I agree with the others who say class action suit. If that happens, loop me in.

I've wasted my money and my time with Tradesy.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use Tradesy. It is a scam site.
