I hired someone from Task Rabbit to deliver my items from an IKEA purchase after I had finished shopping. I hired him prior to my arrival at Ikea, thinking he would drive up after I was done shopping. I told him I would be 'an hourish'. What does he do? He drives to IKEA immediately, sits outside the entire time I shopped and charged me for that time. When I get into the vehicle he told me he forgot to ask for gas for travel expenses. Feeling bad, I agreed to pay an extra. 5 hrs not knowing he has already charged me an hour for sitting there. It was a 24 minute drive and he was very friendly and personable, I can't fault him there.
But I ended up paying a total of $69 for what I thought would be a 30 minute trip. That included the additional $9 service fee plus a $9 trust and safety fee. I thought it was a single 15% fee, not two. So you're paying any additional 30% in fees. That's more than IKEA would have charged to deliver, it was such a rip off. The tasker showed me the invoice ($54) believing that was the final invoice so I was shocked when I got the $69 invoice. An Uber XL would have been cheaper. I had to argue to get a credit because this was more expensive than I ever would have agreed to.
I won't use the service ever again.
