I ordered a copy of my son's birth certificate in early October. First mistake was going through Vitalchek. It took 4 months the last time for my daughter. I should have driven from Colorado to New York to get it in more timely fashion. This time, I received the message after I paid that it would take a minimum of 150-180 BUSINESS DAYS to get the document. That was a wtf moment for sure. My kid cannot apply for a drivers permit without the state stamped BC. When I called them, the response was even worse. They reported that they were just sending out the requests from February and early March 2023. Seeing as we are now in December of 2023, it literally means they are 10 months behind. Do not bother. This company absolutely sucks.

VitalChex is the only option for obtaining a state stamped birth certificate from New York State. When I called today, they said that they just mailed out the orders placed in February and part of March this week. We are at the end of November. This is a 10 MONTH delay. For those of us who require it to obtain state drivers licenses in other states, this is an absolutely insane delay. My son is unable to obtain a drivers permit or any bank accounts without state ID. Thanks NYS and Vitalchek for yet another horrible experience. I would never suggest you waste your money with this company
