I've always had excellent and very prompt customer service from GoFundMe a quicker response than any other online service/platform I've used. This is one of their strengths. I've found much to be desired on the platform itself, however. I'm surprised by its limitations given that GoFundMe seems to have a monopoly on online fundraising campaigns (see recent acquisition of Crowdrise). For context, I am currently running a campaign to fundraise for someone who's starting an animal rescue in another country where GoFundMe is not operational (this means I cannot add her as a beneficiary on the campaign). Some of my frustrations: the campaign page layout is not intuitive; the campaign updates are not obvious yet they contain important information for donors and potential donors; it's not possible to upload videos directly to GoFundMe (they must be hosted on another platform and linked to the GoFundMe page); and you are limited in uploading only 3 photos with any campaign update. GoFundMe heavily pushes promotion on social media, especially Facebook, yet my sharing of the campaign on Facebook gets almost no views. I believe this is due to Facebook algorithms, but I would recommend that GoFundMe revisit their emphasis on Facebook shares, as I have seen almost no benefit to sharing on Facebook.

Tip for consumers:
Note that GoFundMe takes a percentage of each donation made to a campaign. I recommend doing a thorough read of FAQs, etc. on GoFundMe before starting a campaign so you don't have too many unfavorable surprises.

We have found sharing on Facebook to be an incredibly effective way to spread the word, but by no means is it the only way - we also suggest reaching out to all those you know via email, text message, phone call, and other social media platforms you prefer, to share your campaign and keep the momentum going.
