Old computers so could not run TT so H&R Block. I imported from last years return that was in TT. Mac. (Getting a new one after I get this all done).
So on extension deadline finishing it up.
This is a more obscure issue that not many might face. Schedule C Biz codes A & B. But when it SAYS it is a calculated field & still gives an error message does not make sense. But that basic info was also downloaded from previous year. Has been the same. So can't file until fixed. Tried calling # on Help page online linked from program. NO INDICATION THAT WAS FOR ONLINE FILING HELP ONLY! 36 min hold & disconnected. Then 1 hr 1 min. When finally after 40 min or so a person answered. THEN found out that was for online only. Was transferring but then dropped. BAD MOVE TO NOT CLEARLY SAY # for online only. Should clearly show # for online & # for downloaded software. Especially when very long hold times & then dropping calls.
Finally decided to go ahead & download & work on state while I was on hold. That went super quick. As expected.
When I got to state found out doesn't handle estimated taxes so both returns wrong. So it had showed I would owe penalty & then Went back & entered the estimated amounts. But it still kept asking me to fill in the penalty form even tho it was showing refund. Finally got rid of that. After noticing an update. TT makes you update or it did previous years. I finally found info on how to go back to previous pages. That is really easy in TT but not w this.
But it should have fixed it when I entered the payments so it showed refund. Good programming corrects connected forms & fields. This didn't.
So when it finds an error that might be related to an entry a couple pages back, unlike TT when hitting back it doesn't go to previous page in questions but to previous error so really hard to fix. Wasted a LOT of time. I think everything is more or less ok except for this bug that I can't get answers on. So returns are going to be late.
I hope their guarantees cover any penalties for that.
If you have investments it did not have my financial firms to download unlike TT. Others also mentioned that. It has some but a lot of them it does not have to download. So that means data has to be entered manually.
So may be fine for simpler return. But it SHOULD be able to handle what it includes. In this case Sched C for Biz. Including people w 1099 income. Navigation to fix errors was cumbersome.
