I purchased a used record player on my Prime membership. The day it's supposed to be delivered, I don't receive any notification so I check my account & it says the item was undeliverable & I will get a refund. Excuse me? I wanted my purchase. I go online & see there are no more used ones available, so I call customer service & ask why my purchase didn't arrive. They can't give me an answer, but it's not possible to get it. Ok, so what can you do for me? I would like this record player at the price I paid for it. So, eventually they give me a discount for a brand new one. I order it. It arrives a week later (not the 2 days promised). I open it, it has got all kinds of packaging, the table seems a bit loose but I set it up. The power is connecting, red light goes on. The disc doesn't turn. It's defective. Everything indicates that the item was already defective when it was sent to me. I call back regarding the defective product & I'm told to contact the manufacturer & in a couple days we will call you back to see if there's a replacement available for you. I look online & they have the same item in different colours, no attempt made to exchange. The manufacturer responds to me: they have an agreement with Amazon that I can return the item to Amazon but to let them know it's defective & not to resell it to someone else (so they have just been reselling defective merchandise!). I call back & ask why they can't just exchange me for the ones in stock that are just a different colour, is there something wrong with them too? "No, we just can't". Nothing! How about a comparable brand? " No, it's against our policy". I've now talked with 4 different customer service reps over this & I'm so dissappointed! I'm canceling my Prime account & even though I have come to depend on Amazon, I will be leaving Amazon to purchase at small businesses who will appreciate me as a customer. I don't mind paying a bit more for better quality customer service.
