We have a tearoom here in Ooltewah that I have been to many times and it always was very pleasent time.
On a visit to the tearoon in April we made reservations for Mother's Day

We were told at that time of reservation that the tea menu would be special, not the usual fare.
Which is usually quiche, a cheese ball with a cracker, chicken salad with a mini crossiant, fruit cup, a scone, and tea

Our reservations were made.
My daughter took me to tea Mothers Day at Mountain Oaks Tea Room,
We were served the same tea room fare as any other day, nothing special.
One thing the portions were smaller and the price went from every day fare 14.95 for the tea sampler to 19.95
Did they really think that a regular tea room customer would not notice this?

We did have a wonderful time, when sharing tea with a friend or your daughters, it is always a special time.
So we overlooked the Overcharge and The Special NOT Fare,

On Mother's Day I made reservation for Kristys Birthday June 6
At 12 noon
With A special request of a 3 tiered tea tray

A real English High Tea
I was told that the tea tray was a special order and had to be ordered a week in advance. So she would make it fresh and with tiny tea sandwiches, and savories
Special desserts, pastries.
I agreed on her price of 21.95 per person

Over the next few days I private messaged the owner several times...
Checking on my reservation and MY SPECIAL tea tray...

This was a very special occasion. Kristy's birthday

Kristy and I planned our outfits, hair, and was just very happy to try this special High tea tray out from our favorite tea room

Let me add here. The tea room was ran by a lady that really knew how to do tea. With great service and good food,
Then she sold the tea room lease to the present owners.

June 6, we walk in the tea room
I told her I had reservation for 2 and a special 3 tired tray...
The owner looks baffled, looks to another lady and they both said we have no reservation

I took out my phone and showed her the convo we had over the past 2 weeks with all the requests

The owner said to me
Oh thats not a problem, i can throw one together,,

THat is AFTER telling me while we were at the tearoom in April that she had to have advance notice, being she had to make this TRAY fresh.
With special english high tea foods

At this point I was really upset BUT it was Kristys birthday so I was very nice.
We are seated and I am thinking Please Lord do not let this become a disaster,

I was in for a COMPLETE disaster I wish i had avoided from the walk in the door
30 minutes later we are still waiting. We are served our tea --the ice completely melted when the Special tea tray is presented to our table.
The tray has a red gold glitter Christmas bow...
Shabby and ugly
The special pastries are so hard you can not even break them into.
The bread on the sammies was hard, and whatever was inside was minty and gross.
We ate one thing on that try. Which was a maccaron, and it was stale.
She must have whipped up anything she could get from the freezer, you could tell the breads and pastries had been frozen

I was past upset, I will let you be the judge of the tea tray.

I did pay for the tea tray and added a tip for the server,(which is not at fault here) the owner is!
I contacted the owner when I got home
She says Thank you for your INPUT.
Mountain Oaks Tea room will never get my business again.
