My mom was dying of stage IV metastatic breast cancer, and her condition worsened earlier this year. In order to prepare for the worst, I looked to places I could get legal documents so I could protect her and my family, something that no one wants to do but is necessary. I found LawDepot and signed up for a free trial in order to see templates of certain legal documents at the time, and they were all unhelpful as I found better ones for provided by the state.

I got one email confirmation in January that I had a free trial, and subsequently zero communication from LawDepot. They charged me since January 2021 till now, with no notification of an ongoing subscription or even the beginning of the paid one. Even for the month of June, I cannot get a refund although I finally realized that I was being charged for it and canceled - and have not used their services.

When chatting with a representative, they told me that I checked "terms and conditions" which allowed them to charge me without notifying. I was told absolutely no refunds. I don't care if they wrote legal loopholes that I don't remember seeing on my free trial page at all. It's slimy and disgusting, how they prey on people who are desperate and looking for legal advice, even months afterwards. I've worked in law for a while, and I guess this website is no different to the sleaziest attorneys I've worked with.

LawDepot, I hope no one uses your website and gets charged for months following the death of their young mother. You've left a horrible taste in my mouth, and your predatory practices should be known to all.

Hello Isabel,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss.

To clarify, our trial offer is free for one week. During that time, you can create, download and print as many documents as you need. You can cancel at any time and there is no obligation. You simply need to cancel the subscription by requesting the cancellation under Your Account or accessing live chat or phone and we'll cancel it for you within the seven-day window. You also receive an email recapping the offer details and the date and time to cancel by appearing in the email.

We do have you enter your credit card information for uninterrupted access to your documents. There are no charges to the card if the trial offer is cancelled within the seven-day trial period.

All information was given so you have an informed decision about your purchase. I am sorry if you were confused about the Terms of Use.
We do not send out reminder emails of your service as we have provided that to you the first time you signed up. It is the customer's responsibility to cancel the subscription within the Free Trial week if they do not want to continue to a month-to-month service.

We appreciate you giving us feedback and we will continue to work on our site to improve all areas of service.

Regards,

Divine

Really bad experience here, they have poor customer service and moreover clear "got you" money...
