I have used a place for mom twice. The first time they did help get my mother in law placed and I really liked the representative we worked with. However I did get bombarded with soooo many calls and emails from places even after we picked a place. I also got a lot of phone calls from the representative, so much so that I ended up saving her number in my phone. The second time, we needed a higher level of care for my mother-in-law and their selection of places was limited, I didn't really like the representative I worked with, and still got annoying spam communication. My mother-in-law ended up passing away about a month ago and I let the representative know. They gave me a very quick oh sorry to hear that and no further communication. I asked them to let places know so that we would not continue to get communication. I continue to get e-mails from places a month later. The only thing a place for mom offers is the pricing for places which otherwise they don't often post on their websites but it comes at the cost of lots and lots of people calling and e-mailing you.
