I booked a hotel in Montreux, Switzerland, thinking I was booking directly with the hotel, only to discover that I was booking with a 3rd party booking company. A few days later, I wanted to book one more day onto the existing reservation and "Getaroom" said I had to book a separate reservation and couldn't add onto the existing reservation, which was a refundable cancellation reservation. I booked the separate reservation and then, due to circumstances beyond my control, had to cancel in less than 24 hours of making the reservation. I was told I would not get a refund.
Kristen from Getaroom called me and apologized profusely, saying that she did her best with the hotel manager to get us a refund, but the hotel would not budge one bit, even though the reservation is 3 months away! So, just to help us out, Kristen offered us a 50% refund of our $307 and we gladly agreed to it.
Kristen said it would take 3-5 days for the refund to show up on my credit card, so I will be looking for it.
