I own a unit at the Island Princess *******. When I purchased my unit and put it on VRBO, it was strictly an advertising site. Since Expedia has implemented THEIR policies, I can not vet my guest. The email and telephone numbers of both the guest and myself have been blocked. I purchased this unit, paid for it, Expedia, Homeaway, and VRBO DO NOT OWN IT, nor did they pay for my VRBO advertising. Now I have had to block my dates. Most of my rentals came through friends, family, Facebook friends and referrals NOT THROUGH VRBO. If you check my reviews, they are good. I am referred to as a friend and easy to work with. Why because, I was able to speak to the guest and treat them as more that money.
HomeAway sent a letter to guest warning them about payment for rental units. Next paragraph talks about owner wanting their payment and the value of the property to the rental. Once again I called talked to agent about this letter - answer policy, I asked him if he purchase a $500,000.00 piece of property would he want to rent it to someone he could not vet and talk to - he said NO, but it is your policy.
Check the number of times I have called with complains even before the blockage of emails and telephone numbers,, one was a reservation that had paid the service fee and me in full and marked paid - called man identified himself as head "TECH PERSON" and could fix the problem - he marked it as not cancelled - two hours later it was cancelled again.
The last inquiry I received through VRBO was from________. She had first inquired about dates unavailable, I responded back it was unavailable and listed dates available all through VRBO., She sent me a second inquiry, telling me their address_______________________
What you have is a big money grubbing corporation, that does not care for the guest or owners
I will not use VRBO or any of its group every again and I am not the only client you had that is leaving. Plus I will tell everyone I know not to use VRBO.
This is the 5th condo, I have owned and managed, plus commercial retail properties successfully.
No Thanks
