Beware of this website, which I landed on via google, thinking I was calling Apple customer care!

I have a macbook that totally crashed on me, and when I called, the smooth-talking agent asked if I had been online over the weekend, and when I responded yes, he said that java script had been hacked, and 5600 people had already called today with crashed macbooks. He told me they could fix it remotely with all of my files restored (yes, I'm gullible), but that could cost $320... however, for "just $250", they could provide free tech service to resolve my problem, AND it would cover all of the Apple products in our home for 2 years. Sounded like a deal to ME!

After paying, they transferred me to their help desk - and guess what? After 1 hour of trying the same things over and over, they couldn't give me any advice (aside from what I'd already found online) on how to power up my macbook - and advised me that for sure my battery was dead, but I could (of course) purchase a new one. Funny, since my battery worked perfectly in my husband's macbook...

We finally just called an Apple store 90 minutes away, and are taking it in for diagnosis - which is my first-step recommendation to EVERYONE. When we called mytechhelp.com one hour later to cancel our $250 "warranty" because 1) I was led to believe I was talking to Apple, and 2) their tech person totally mis-advised me, they initially refused to cancel. Then, they said they would cancel, but only for an $85 service fee. Only through increasing threats did they finally call in a supervisor, relent, and issue a full refund back to our debit card.

If you have a computer problem, stay away from these people - and instead, go directly to your machine's manufacturer or a reputable local repair shop.
