I have a managed Wordpress portfolio site (Dreamhost handles regular updating) that hasn't been changed in years. A few months ago all my families email shut down. Turned out Dreamhost had an issue updating my Wordpress PHP to the latest. Since they couldn't update it they began charging me a small monthly fee for using the old PHP.
I never used the old PHP. They did.
I had a $15 bill. They also couldn't tell me how to fix the issue or which WP blog was at fault. I paid the bill and my account took days to turn back on after customer service told me they'd turned it back on and would refund the $15 and tell me how to stop it from happening. They never did.
Today? It happened again. They've been billing me that small fee with no notice.
It's kind of wild to watch a business just take a 20-year relationship and trash it over their own error but ok. I'm not sure where else to call this out.
