Don't buy there, it's a headache and you will lose money. Cheap items mostly, anyway
January 31, 2022

Zulily is not what it used to be when it was established more than a decade ago.

After several years living abroad I wanted to start using the site again, because every time I used it years ago I had a great experience: great brands, great deals, convenient return policy. What can I say, I loved zulily.

Unfortunately, I didn't think twice when, once back in the States, this January I was looking for some garden boots for me and my daughters and ran to zulily. Thinking this was the great site I remembered, I searched for boots. The first difference I noticed was that they no longer are the old zulily, it's a QVC company and it's a marketplace. Well, I thought, there may be some policy changes, sure, but why not try it. I found out that they don't refund your money if you return an item. Instead, they give you a store credit unless you had paid with their own zulily credit card (which after my experience, I would say "Please think it twice!") So, you need to be sure that you will find something else to your taste in case you need to return your purchase. But that's not all.

One pair of boots in my purchase was too big and I had to request a return. Once you request it, they won't credit the whole amount you initially paid, they will deduct "a shipping and handling fee". That's what happened to me, and lost around 6 dollars only on those fees. Remember, you paid the shipping fee during checkout. This is another shipping and handling fee they deduct after your return and it's not that quick. You send the package back. Once they received it, they take some days to process everything. Once they process everything, it takes like 5 business days for them to issue the credit. Just to give you an idea, I made the purchase on December 31; after a long wait to receive my purchase and then sending one item back quickly the day after receiving it, at the end of January I have been finally able to made another purchase with the credit they gave me. As said, the pair of boots I returned were too big. And I can tell you, you can't expect to trust on zulily's size chart, it's not accurate. My recommendation is go to the site of the original brand or, better, don't buy from zulily at all. After the credit, I couldn't find the size I needed for replacement and, anyways, it wouldn't be convenient: I lost money on shipping fees the first time I purchased, I lost money on shipping and handling fees for returning, and I'd eventually lose money on shipping for my required new purchase unless I wanted to forget my money on zulily's hands and move on. So, it's insane. Because for those boots I've lost like 22 dollars in total.

After the return I didn't want to give them more money than what they gave me back. So, those boots weren't an option now -I couldn't afford them with my store credit- even if they had my correct size, which they didn't, anyway.

I started looking for something else. Since zulily is now a marketplace, you mostly find cheap items and this time I didn't want to purchase something just to try, because my losses would be higher. But it was hard to find something that's worth it, they only have a few good brands. I finally chose something I didn't need but would enjoy, and definitely no sizing needed.

As said, I had to pay the new shipping fees. Since my item cost less than my credit, I searched for a second item; however, the shipping fee would have been ridiculous. So, I took advantage of their usual "offer" to pay a shipping fee once and pay no shipping fees for the rest of the day, because the fee is lower if you order one item only. I made my purchase of one item. After some hours of searching for something else that was not a cheap low-quality item -not an easy task on the site- I finally settled for something small that was only 15 additional cents (taxes and fees included) of what I had in credit store.

The first item will ship in 2 or 3 days. The second item -the one with supposedly no shipping fees- will ship in like 3 WEEKS! Yes, three weeks. So, it's like punishment for taking advantage of their promotion. I was going to give them 2 stars. Now I'm FURIOUS just writing about them and the amount of money, time and frustration they have took from me and giving them 1 star as a gift.

Tip for consumers:

- Be sure that you won't need to return your purchase
- Check sizing charts from the original brands' sites not zulily's
- Do not purchase if you think there may be the slightest possibility of a wrong size
- Read carefully every description, some items can't be returned

Zullily Buyers Beware
October 6, 2021

I've stopped shopping with Zullily as majority of their clothing is of poor quality and I being sent the wrong sizes. Their return policy is unfair! As Many times I get the wrong sizes and I have to pay to return it. They do not make return policy easy but frustrating to discourage returns. At times I get totally the wrong items or I don't get my items after waiting such a long long time.

Generally customer service is friendly but does not deliver what they say will be done is never done. Example they'll tell you they will credit you for items not received but, credits are never given. So I've stopped shipping with them and wasting my money and feeling ripped off. I much rather shop at Amazon who have better quality and fairer return policies, and I certainly don't have to wait for months to be disappointed with wrong size or cheap quality clothing.

Zullily also ships in poor quality cheapest boxes many times the boxes are dented torn clothes showing, it's made of the cheapest non durable cardboard just like many of the products they sell. If you choose to buy from them buy with caution. Look for name brands when on sale. I've got a few name brands over time but wasted so much money on many of Zullily cheaper made flimsy clothing or either reiterating wrong sizes sent. Or many of their shoes are " made in China". Many times I've ordered a size 11 only to receive a size 9 0r 10 as it's not American size 11. Then like I say you get wrong sizes sent you or poorest of poor quality then customer service makes you pay to return what is their error and fault. Unfair Some merchants buys poor quality clothing from China then sell on Zulily. Might as well go to eBay for that and exempt the middle man and, eBay return policies again are fairer than Zullily.

What we need more are " Made in America " quality products. Not going through these emotional roller Coasters shopping at places like Zullily who will continue to sell us mostly junk products, continue their unfair return policies making us pay to return wrong sizes or not crediting us for stuff they're never shipped, continue to ship to us in their poorly cheapest cardboard boxes. Shows how un valued we are to them except our money! Of course! But This is our money!, times have become tougher. I know I want to spend wiser smarter and to be treated fairer as a consumer, but don't we deservingly all? We as consumers deserve the best. Not from companies like Zulily who will continue to be unrighteously profitable taking our hard earned pennies the wrong way.

Tip for consumers:

That they will fairly pay to return their items that were sent of wrong sizes or damaged. They make you pay for their wrongs

Misrepresentations, Broken Promises, and Incredibly Bad Service
October 6, 2020

Zulily used to be a great company. Not now. I used to shop with them a lot, finding unique and interesting things at great prices, and they had great customer service, really going out of their way to make the customer happy. Not now. I recently ordered two sets of neck gators, or as they call them, convertible scarves. When they arrived I discovered they would not go over my head. I looked back at their statements regarding measurements and materials. I measured what I received and found the ones I received to be significantly smaller, and the materials label did not match what Zulily claimed. What should have allowed it to stretch wasn't there. So I contacted Zulily. Repeatedly. While they agreed to approve the return, they expected me to pay the return shipping charge of $8.99.( I think they may even add on tax to shipping, at least for shipping out orders. And that in itself is somewhat deceptive. They claim additional orders ship for free on the weekends, and yet they charged me $9.84 for the second order, something that they did refund at that time with my earlier complaints.) Anyway, after numerous emails from me asking them to cover the return shipping charge since they indeed misrepresented what they were selling, a nice customer service agent agreed, telling me I would not be charged for using their return label. Here's what he wrote: "In regards to the return label, you will not be charged for this return." Simple and straightforward, right? No ambiguity. So what happened? They charged me the $8,99 shipping fee they promised me they would not charge. And the refund for my items was only issued in store credit which I really don't want since I don't think I want to ever shop with them again. They may have saved some money on shipping, (although I would argue that scarves are light weight and could be shipped for far less) but they have lost me as a customer. I have contacted them yet again, telling them that they charged me for the return shipping after promising they would not. And I received a totally inept response to my most recent complaint: "I am sorry to hear that you were charged the return shipping fee. I went ahead and added $5 store credit to your account which is ready to use right away to cover the shipping cost. I want to assure you that we continually strive to make things better, and are focused on what we can do to make your experience as effortless and enjoyable as possible." Are you kidding me? How does a $5 store credit equate to an $8.99 refund which I'd assumed was going back to my credit card? They make it sound like they are doing the customer a favor when clearly they are not. I'm totally fed up with their meaningless assurances that they care about customers and their feelings which they do nothing to satisfy. Earlier, a different customer service agent wrote an almost identical line, thanking me for sharing my feelings: "Thank you for letting us know how you feel about this. Your feedback is very important to all of us here at Zulily. I want to assure you that we continually strive to make things better, and are focused on what we can do to make your experience as effortless and enjoyable as possible." What nonsense! This must be some standard spiel that they tell their agents to say. None of it means anything if they do not listen to the complaint that is made and respond accordingly. No one appears to be home and conscious at Zulily. I don't know if this all has to do with Covid and not being able to hire people who are literate, or perhaps, they have sold themselves to another entity that doesn't care about its customers and is out to make every last dime they can. They certainly do not cross check their descriptions, and a lot of their products seem directly manufactured for them, like under their own brand, cheaply made in China. I'm not totally sure about that part, but I do know that with a lot of what I've bought from them recently, it doesn't seem like the quality is there anymore. Like I said, they've really gone downhill. And I'm not traveling with them anymore for that jerky, bumpy sled ride banging into countless issues that they refuse to fix. I've now opened up a possible case with Paypal, so I will see where that goes Since the opening of that complaint against them, I just received three more totally inadequate emails from Zulily. One simply addresses my feelings and how thankful they are that I shared those with them, again, not addressing the issues, the second one claims that they sent the $8.99 shipping fee back to me through Paypal; however, I checked my account and there isn't any refund, on, or near the date they have cited. In the third email from Zulily sent to me on 10/4/2020, they state:" It looks like your $8.66 refund was posted to your Zulily account as store credit on 02/10/2020." This makes absolutely no sense. What happened back in Feb of this year, about 8 months ago -- when Zulily was a decently run company -- does not pertain to the current issues whatsoever. Both the date and the amounts are entirely wrong. I really don't think these people know what they are doing. I'm not sure if they are deliberately going out of their way to be annoying or not, but they are successful in that regard even if they are not trying. It's incredibly frustrating to try to have an intelligent conversation with some one who is not home and doesn't care. I do not wish to do business with them ever again. They do not make my days "delightful;" instead, they add on layers of stress and frustration. Worst customer service department ever!

Occasional good finds, could be a lot better in several ways
January 11, 2020

There is so much crap on this website. It's a lot to take in and digest. I think Zulily could do themselves a favor by being a tad more selective as to brands and items they resell through their site. It's quickly becoming like Amazon, except way less effective than Amazon has made themselves to be (for the most part). There are just too many things to have to sift and wade through on this site. I usually just give up because I'm so overwhelmed by the vast results. What makes it even worse, is that most of the results are just subpar crap. Not anything I want to buy, and certainly not items I want to waste my time sifting endlessly through.

Now, that being said, you can score some really great deals on Zulily from time-to-time. No rhyme or reason as to what or why or when though. Patience seems to be the key. The savings are usually (but not always), significant enough to tempt me to buy.

Now the cons... For the average product listed on Zulily, there is an average of 1 picture to show the item. That's crazy. Even the furniture sometimes has 1 picture only. And they're often low-quality pictures. I'm not sure how pictures are being selected and uploaded onto their site (does Zulily do it, or does the original seller upload items? I'm not sure), but it can be a problem. I'll give you examples. Just this week, I saw in my email an ad for women's clothing staples, which I don't normally look at, but the picture was of a young woman wearing a really cute, over-sized sweater. When I looked at the actual listing on Zulily for that sweater and clicked through the pictures, all of them were somewhat low-res, and some of the pictures were repeated, except they showed various edited versions of the same picture. Meaning, whoever edited and photoshopped the originals saved multiple versions of different photoshop versions of the same pic, and somehow, those various versions all got uploaded together. So when clicking through the pictures of the model in the sweater, you could see all the little things they'd photoshopped. One picture was of her original neck, while the next picture was of a photoshopped version of the same model with a much thinner neck. Why? Idk, her original neck looked fine, but okay Photoshop wizards. Continuing on, one pic had the collar of the same sweater looking a bit fuzzy, wherein the next picture the collar was photoshopped and pushed in. The hair moved around from the photoshopping, etc. It's just extremely unprofessional, and item photo issues happen with enough frequency that I feel the need to bring it up here. Zulily, this is cheapening your brand big-time.

The biggest issues for me (and this seems to be a reoccurring issue with other reviewers) are their shipping and returns. Their shipping is ALL OVER the place. I get that they are a reseller and that only some items are actually in the Zulily warehouses, whereas, other items, Zulily has to wait for the original seller to ship the item to Zulily and then Zulily ships it to the buyer. Or, the original seller bypasses Zulily and ships directly to the buyer. It's all over the place. The cost and timing is anyone's guess. You'd have better luck shaking a Magic 8 ball to divine when and how you'll get your package. I've literally waited months to receive some of my items.

The quality of the items is also all over the place. A lot of subpar crap. Sometimes it's good though, but often, it's not.

Now, the return policy. My biggest bane with Zulily. What the heck even is that policy? IT'S TERRIBLE. Revamp your return policy ASAP, because it's obvious that a lot of customers are getting fed up. Zulily charges YOU to return items. Like... what? It's not okay.

Now, with that being said, I recently received a pair of shoes I'd ordered off Zulily that were the wrong shoes. Not wrong size--I mean they were an entirely different pair of shoes nothing like what I'd ordered. But hey, at least the shoe size was correct. I emailed Zulily alerting them and asking them how I should go about sending the shoes back to them (because--ahem--I was not going to pay to return an item that was the wrong item and their mistake). I was very pleasantly surprised to get a speedy response back from an employee (Jamaica), who was very prompt and polite in her email. She let me know that they were just going to refund me for the shoes. I didn't even need to send them back. That was very surprising to me and kind of them. However, now I have these shoes I'll never wear and I'm hoping someone I know might want them. I'd hate to waste them.

Overall, if Zulily could perfect their shipping, returns, quality of item descriptions/photos, and the overall quality of items they resell, this company could really be a major hit for me and a lot of other people. I'm not saying that they're not already successful, but there's always room for improvement, and these particular issues could help improve their quality, brand, and functionality significantly.

Tip for consumers:

ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK reviews for items listed on this website! If there are no reviews on Zulily's website, google the name of the item and read other reviews for that same item sold elsewhere. It's saved me a lot of grief. There is just so much for sale on Zulily, and without due diligence, there's no way to know if you're about to buy a total dud item. And good luck returning it! Ha! Yeah right. I've bought some really good stuff on here, but I've also gotten a lot of bad too.

Please avoid this company
August 15, 2018

I waited to write a review on this company because I ordered some plant seeds and I wanted to see if they sprouted. They didn't. I ordered many products from Zulily. I got so tired of trying to resolve issues with them I decided to quit. I ordered clothes, decorative items and outdoor products. I realized the companies they were procuring their products came from a foreign company that has no quality control. I have a swimming suit that was advertised on their site as a first edition "Miraclesuit". It was not. The sizing on the suit was. 14 and bottom of the one piece suit fit beautifully and the top of the suit was a size 4. I purchase a beautiful jacket that was labeled size 16 but was a size 8(I normally wear a size 14 top and a 12 pant). Time and time again I had to work with their customer service people. Many of the Zulily personnel were wonderful but the majority of them were tired of dealing with angry customers because of the problems with the products the customers ordered. I spent an enormous amount of money on shoes, clothes, electronics, outdoor items and most of them I received were seconds, thirds, in other words, factory rejects. I notified Zulily on several occasions that they needed to really look at the companies they were buying from but Zulily never responded to me. I understood then, they did NOT care. I quit returning the items that I had ordered that did not fit. I used my credit that was in my account. I stopped ordering from them because they advertise first rate designer products at a discount price but what they should say is this company sells designer rejects and when we give you credit for the items that aren't as advertised you have to pay more for shipping costs than the original product cost. Thereby, you are actually losing money when you return something.
Bottom line the few products that are satisfactory are not worth the loss of money, the aggravation and the time you lose. The company can't manage their suppliers quality control and their customer service people that are in entry level positions are overwhelmed with dealing with the complex issues of the returns. I decided ordering n line is like gambeling at a fixed game of cards-you don't get a deal... DO NOT count on Zulily providing you with what they promise you. Buyer beware.

Navy Floral-Embroider Sleeveless Dress
Brand: Ananda's Collection
SKU: ANADASCOLLEC_SC2004NAVYEMB_NAVY_XXL
CAD$25.99 You should be ashamed of yourself for selling such trash!
This piece or material is not what you claimed it to be! My last purchase from you, most definitely! The size is laughable. I wear a XL in normal sizing, your chart claims a XXL is a 43 bust. Which I ordered to be safe in the sizing... WOW This pice of garbage is 3-4 inches smaller than your claim. AND GUESS WHAT "NO RETURN" very convenient for you and lucky for me it only cost me 30.00 to learn a great lesson... this is the third time your sizing has been off huge... no more Zulily! EVER! And I waited three weeks for this.

Bait and Switch
November 27, 2017

First, shipping takes at least a month to six weeks for your product to arrive. If youre lucky enough to receive the correct product and you didnt need it by a specific date and it actually matches the stated sizing, good for you! Otherwise, youll get a product that doesnt match the item description, sizing, or your order gets cancelled. If you try sending them a Facebook private message, no one responds. So you try posting to their Facebook page, they remove your post. Try email, you get an automated response. A real person will send you a message 2 days later with a scripted response. If youve received a wrong product, theyll send you a return label. However, getting your money back takes MANY weeks again! They tell you 10-15 business days from when you ship your return. After 15 business days, I contact them & now they say 15 business days from when THEY receive the package. Thats right, they take 3 weeks after receiving your return to give your money back for THEIR mistake! They received my return 17 days ago and processed it, but havent submitted a refund yet. I dont know how they stay in business. I made a return in late October, its almost December and I still dont have my money back for a cheap Chinese knockoff of the item I ordered. It was a completely different product. I ordered a solar powered copper colored camping LED lantern. They sent me a very small black, plastic battery powered lamp that looked like it was from the Dollar Store. All the packaging was in Chinese. Not even the name brand of the item that was advertised on their site. I took pictures of it and emailed their customer service. They wont acknowledge that they play the old bait and switch game with consumers. Dont order from them. Theyve lost another customer.
