Nanette Barto claims to have solved the Zodiac Killer case and a host of other infamous crimes by matching the handwriting in these murders to that of her deceased suspect.
More specifically, Ms. Barto says that she matched the handwriting of Jack Tarrance to that of Chicago's Lipstick Killer, even though another man is in jail for those crimes. The Lipstick Killer murders occurred on June 5,1945, December 20,1945, and January 7,1946.
According to Jack Tarrance's Military Discharge Documents, he began active service in the US Navy at a base in San Francisco, CA on December 12,1945. This date is just 8 days before the second Lipstick murder. Clearly, Jack Tarrance would not have been granted Leave from the Navy to travel from California to Chicago, Illinois just 8 days after beginning active service. Nor would he have been able to extend such leave for 3 weeks so that he could also be in Chicago at the time of the 3rd Lipstick Murder on January 7,1946.
If Jack Tarrance could not have been in Chicago at the time the 2nd (Frances Brown) and 3rd (Suzanne Degnan) Lipstick Murders occurred, he could NOT have written the messages left by the Lipstick Killer. This means that Nanette Barto's handwriting match between Jack Tarrance and the Lipstick Killer is WRONG. If her comparisons between Tarrance and the Lipstick Killer are WRONG, this brings into serious question the validity of her match between Tarrance and the Zodiac, Tarrance and the Amerithrax attacker, and Tarrance and the I-45 Killer (which, incidentally, did not even have a handwritten letter, just one with letters cut and pasted).

Ms. Barto also spends an inordinate amount of energy denigrating law enforcement agencies (including the FBI, LAPD, SFPD, Oakland County, Michigan PD and Napa PD), accusing them of lying and egregious breaches in ethics and morality just because they don't support her findings. Why should they when she's been proven to be wrong?
