The Zap2it I've been using for a while has gone completely useless, but I find that the version available through the Albuquerque Journal works okay, at least for now.
Easy to navigate. Not fancy. Delivers what I want. As I said it's the weakness and clunkiness of the other TV listings.
I first used zap2it.com a few years ago so I could have a customized television guide drilled-down to only twenty or thirty of my most viewed TV stations of the hundreds of cable channels available. Back then there wasn't a "my favorites" feature on cable box guides. I went back to have a look before I penned my review and what a disappointment. Pop-ups and pop-overs everywhere. And not the kind traditional pop-up blockers can stop. Why do the web developers do that to us? And better yet, why doesn't the internet public stop visiting these sites?
The web developers at ZapToIt are at it again. Everything is redesigned and now one cannot login or create an account. It was wonderful before. I used the link at the bottom of their page to contact them, filled out all the information including my problem and comments about the change, and sending the form results in an error so it also doesn't work! TitanTV here I come!
I will give websites a couple of chances, but eventually, I will simply stop using websites that habitually lie to me.
Why is it that the developer community seems to have absolutely no integrity?
Why do they always claim that their new versions are better, greater and more intuitive when in actuality, the second you try to use it you find that: it's not better, it's not greater, it's not more intuitive and it simply does not work?
I went to /titantv.com and will be using that site for a while.
I am fed up with IT lying to me,
Complete garbage now! Takes forever to scroll thru the page and favourites are a pain! Have to click back and forth now loved the favourite channels at beginning of list taking them out of the main list! Switched to the local news paper listings at lest they load and can scroll without lag!
If I could I would give 1/4 star for all the help available to fix this problem. I've had an account for YEARS. And suddenly I am not in their system. Hate what they did. What happened to" if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Cannot login, cannot contact company. Cannot, cannot, cannot...
I used to recommend zap2it to everyone. It was by far the most efficient way to find what you want to watch, now it actually seems the opposite, which has made me wonder if theyre trying to slow you down so you see more ads or something? Id actually rather pay upfront, or very small monthly subscription to get it back the way it used to be (course, thats only if they guarantee itll Stay that way!).
It was fine the way it was. WHY? Why change? You can't log in anymore, you can't start a new account, you can't change the grid from 3 hours to 6, and you can't filter out channels you don't care for. Guess I'll try Titan or whatever it's called.
Horrible. Looks like Yahoo bought the site rights and zap2it didn't bother to create a follow on. You can currently get to your real zap2it by going to tv.yahoo.com that gets you to tvschedule.zap2it.com and you are back in business.
Someone mentioned TitanTV - Thank you! Looks and works great. Goodbye Zap2it. Someone at Zap2it has probably never heard the saying " if it ain't broke don't fix it". Well ---- it wasn't broke you fixed it and it sure as heck broken now.
I don't understand how anyone can think that this new listings format is in any way better than the old one. It is extremely slow, you can't change the list views, you can't change the default time (if you change days, it takes you back to the current time - but I always want primetime - so I have to change it back and then wait and wait for the stupid page to load again and again because it is so slow - and this is on a 75M connection!). Why are they trying to fix something that wasn't broken. GIVE US BACK THE OPTION TO FOR CLASSIC VIEW!
I just tried it again after 56 months away. It froze and was clunky and I wonder how Yahoo manage to make their version so slick (Just like the old version) and Aap2It cant. So Zap it. And go to the Yahoo version. http://www.zap2it.com/tvlistings
Why mess with the old grid? It allowed you to see so much more on your screen. It was invaluable to scanning days and weeks for programs.
God-awful redesign, just terrible. Nearly useless to me now.
Zap2it wasn't broken before April 2014, why did they "fix" it?
Before they changed it:
I could specify the number of hours on the grid. Now I can't
I could specify which channels I wanted on the grid. Now I can't.
I could specify the exact hour I wanted the grid to start. Now I can't
I could tell it to show me episode summaries on the grid. Now I can't.
Thanks A LOT for the huge step BACKWARD in functionality.
Back to TV-Guide's web site *sigh*
Both thier app and thier website SUCK AT AN INCREDIBLE level! They are hard to navigate, freeze a lot and hide the info that you are most interested in. To add another insult they also refuse to provide any workinf feedback options on the site itself. WOW EVERYTHING THEY DO IS TERRIBLE!
Used Zap2it for years. Was the best, and easiest to read, tv listings site. Now they've changed to look -exactly- like tvguide's website from several years ago... which was the reason I found Zap2it in the first place. They didn't have cartoonish bubbles around every listing, which means fewer listings per page, and it actually showed information about a show or episode. That was great, I loved it. Bookmarked Zap2it right away.
Now they've... suddenly become the thing I got away from? They've become the site that I left once I found a better one?
It's very confusing, but I guess I'll look at the Yahoo TV page until I find something similar to what Zap2it used to be - clear to look at, informative on all levels, and capable of showing the details we want to see about the TV listings in question. They had something good and they threw it away. Why they did is something that I guess we'll never understand, unless someone lets us know -something- about their bad decision. Which they'll never admit to. If history teaches us anything.
Or maybe they'll act like human beings and make the thing easier to read the information on again. I bet they would, once the page views start dropping like a stone thrown off a cliff.
The new and improved ZAP2IT sights sucks! Thus far, all reviews for their 'upgrade' received 1 star. I found YAHOO has retained the old style ZAP2IT. The link to it is

Now that I've had a few weeks to adapt to TV without Zap, I find I've had to replace their old full screen Zap2it format with a combination of ontvtonight TV and Titan TV.
Together it's workable, and each fills in some of what the other is missing in their format.
But even together, these two are not as good as the old Zap2it full screen TV listing format was.
As others have pointed out, Zap2it was as near to perfect as a TV listing can get, and any change meant a change for the worse.
I have emailed Zap2it to let them know how I feel about their change.
Have you?
