“BEWARE PAYING ONLINE”

Randi B.
8/24/23

BEWARE PAYING ONLINE,,, I asked for assistance in April to pay my bill. I was directed to a site online. They helped me complete the transaction. What I was unaware of was that by paying online my card was signed up for payments to be taken from my card the 1rst of every month. I did not catch the charges until August. I contacted the YMCA concerning the issue. I NEVER EVER WOULD HAVE SIGNED UP FOR PAYMENTS TO COME OUT OF MY ACCOUNT ON THE 1RST AS I DON'T GE PAID UNTIL THE 4TH. ALSO, I WAS BEING CHARGED $37. AND IN APRIL THE PAYMENT CHANGED TO $18.50 PLUS ONLINE PAYMENT CHARGES. They did refund $18.50 minus the online charges because those are non refundable... but basically inferred I was an idiot because I didn't read every word on the page or disclosure. I tried to tell Margret there was a problem with their online program. I do not believe I am the only person effected. They got this New 360 page which is totally confusing as I was told I needed to pay on there. I am not sure why they have 2 pages for the YMCA to get info and to find out their schedules, make payments and so on. Why not just have it all on 1 site? I have been going to the YMCA since I was 5yeaars old with my father. I am 65years old. I LOVE THE YMCA. IT HAS PROVIDED MYSELF AND MY FAMILY WITHWONDWERFUL OPPORTUNITIES. I RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL OF THE SERVICES THAY PROVIDE AND ALMOST ALL OF THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY, HELPFULLY AND UPLIFTING. THIS ACCOUNT WAS FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN and now my account is gone.

“Terrible staff”

Tanya P.

Disgusting experience at this establishment. They will smile at you until you become a regular customer. Then they will start to openly be rude. Unfriendly environment for children. The staff of the YMCA (Snohomish County, WA. Colby Ave in Everett) asserts itself at the expense of the club's visitors. Their the problems are obvious.

The Southwest Washington YMCA, has a dirty parking lot with homeless people roaming regularly, dusty and unmaintained equipment. Terrible customer service within the building. Toxic and discriminating environment. Unethical practices. Management is not existent. Sauna never disinfected. I have worked there and have a certain insights, I would not recommend this gym the prices are too high for the quality of service and the lack of workout machines.

Tip for consumers:
This is a toxic and unhealthy environment. I would question where your money is really going because the facility is covered in dust and most machines are so out dated or broken.

Products used:
I paid for a membership and was canceled with no questions asked no indication no refund. Eventually I receive an email from the CEO saying she received an anonymous letter about me?? Really a letter about me, I think that's very far fetched. This place runs by popularity and if they don't like you they come up with what ever they can to get you banned. The management in this building is unsupportive to guest and employees.

I love the ymca, it has the pool, the classes, the weights, the out door activities and gives your kids something to do while you go there to work out. It's also very cleanly which is a major thing for me.

If you are looking for a normal steamroom experience you will be greatly disappointed. This system is always out of order or not working properly when it is suppose to. It takes them atleast a week or two to do repairs only to find out its still the same old running system which needed to be replaced during covid down time. It saddens many of the members that we have to go elsewhere to get a good steam experience for something we pay for.

The ymca of greater dayton areas are the worst possible ymcas ever. Very very rude to members and are on a total power trip. They will cuss at you then bam your pass for cussing at them. They blow whistles like we are at recess when the gym is time to close. They are a joke and only in it for the money and none of the money goes to anything needed at facilities.

Tip for consumers:
I do not recommend at all.

The ymca on elmgrove rd in Rochester NY allows transgender males to use the women's locker room even though they have a family locker room for both sexes. Twice I've observed a black male in the women's locker room and upon reporting it was told he was transitioning and identifies as female. Uh no sorry, not acceptable for a Christian principled organization. The public and members are not being advised of this policy and I'm learning that all ymca locations are independent and able to write their own policies. This is deceptive business practice and the public needs to be informed. Photos? Not allowed in locker rooms however that policy is also broken regularly. So be advised protect your privacy.

I use to go here to workout. I also use to enjoy working out here. But, I soon noticed that some of the YMCA branches in Cleveland are poorly maintained and up kept. They hardly updated the building or the workout equipment.
The staff and some people that go here are rude, judgemental and prejudging people. They base who you are on your looks or assume things about you without even knowing you.
One several occasions locals or staff looked at me strange, wired or made rude comments to me by calling me fat.
Just recently. I was talking to a male staff member. We were having enough I thought a cool conversation. But, then he assumed. That just cause I was being nice and friendly. I was hitting on him. When, I never said anything of the sort or even implied I was. I'm a straight male.
I was called in the supervisor office, in next few days. I was told the staff member I spoke to made him feel uncomfortable. I'm like how all we were talking about is working out and losing weight. I said nothing sexual or strange.
Then I was told my membership was being suspended for 30 days. I was like I didn't do anything wired, strange or wrong. But I'm being punished. I told the YMCA to take their membership and shove it. And refund my money.

Most recently rejoined: YMCA. Only to find hostility. Reason for joining. The use of shower. One occasion shower out of service with no explanation. Except the incompetent maintenance employee could not fix it. Next: On: March 21,2016, spoke with two incompetent at will employee managers: Mr. Weezer. Ms. Berrie. I asked them to not have their at will employees address me by first name. They claimed they would leave a foot note. March 28,2016. It appeared strange: At will employee front desk clerk: Chance a male white adult. Went into the male locker room. It did appear suspicious. When he was finished showering he stood by the lockers and squatted around with his zipper down. The motive and intent is unknown. Although it did appear to be gay. He yelled out my first name prior to leaving the male locker room. As follows: " Are you almost done, he then yelled out my first name". This was March 28,2016. Monday. I called that same day spoke with at will employee manager: Berrie. I informed this manager I wanted to cancel my membership. Also to reimbursed for the amount paid. I paid for three months. I'm not using the gym. So if service is not rendered I should be able to be reimbursed. She claims I can't be reimbursed. This is a so called Christian based company. There is no reason I can't get reimbursed. It was formed in: 1844, by: George Williams. In London. Supposedly it started out Christian based. Not too also mention some of the gym members are arrogant. Some block the exit of the men's locker to pose. Even after you, say excuse me. To give the impression they want to instigate provocation. Next: A. K. A. Alex a so called at will employee. His so called job: Is a physical instructor. I had to ask him not to slap my shoulder or any other part of my body. Why do we have to ask any at will employee to not commit a act against public policy? California Penal Code: 240. He stopped. Yet the very same day: The male white adult named: Chance yelled out my name, it was strange that Alex looked in the mirror prior to: A. K. A. Chance yelling out my name and gave a smirk. What was the motive and intent? Was it because it was part of some scheme for constructive discharged. For retaliation for making a complaint? California Labor Code: 6310. Or constructive discharge? California Labor Code: 2922? Harassment is suppose to be an act against public policy. California Government Code: *******. The proper way to address a customer is: Sir or Ms. Then by the last name. I already wrote up company with: Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs. I asked the manager to cancel membership. She said so gladly. However: Is refusing to reimburse me. If I am not using the gym. I should be able to get reimbursed. Or its theft. Not Christian by action. Will write up this franchise and all the rest. Why? If any customer go's to the manager and asks to not be called by first name its not a unreasonable request. The excuse: Lame duck, empty suit manager: Berrie provided was: ( It will take time). Thats because she can't do her job.

I cashier and I will never do a membership with the local Y in my area. Why? I cashier and I frequently get to deal with theft rings that come in and use your clientele's stolen cards to buy pre paid visas for 2k and often get away with it because we can't do anything about it.

I tried a membership trial through my hra funds. I wasn't all that impressed with it. So I saved up and waited for holiday seasonal discounts to buy a few exorcise equipment for my home. The classes fill up fast and makes free time in these rooms for those that don't want to nor can afford a class to partake of the machines. Time is limited and quickly disappearing. Dear fellow women: the gym is not a strip club. Please wear clothing that doesn't show your but cheeks nor half your breasts. Please also stop using the weights to dance around like you're on a strip pole. I can't tell you how often I see this and frankly it's disgusting. Staff won't do anything about it. Dear men: please stop common in wearing only shorts and nothing else and these are short shorts. If I wanted to see nudity I'd go some where else.

When I had a trial membership I did a few classes and wasn't completely impressed with their instructors. I had issues of parking spots filling up fast and had to be an hr early to class just to be able to participate. My area has an issue of catalytic converters being stolen from cars and this was a frequent issue as well. Teachers tried a little teaching but often just showed up and let class do what they wanted.

I wasn't all that impressed with my local y and found I used it less and less as time continued. I canceled it and bought my own set of exorcise equipment. I wake up and walk to next room and do my exorcise for 20 min before work and I'm done. During covid it was hell to try and cancel my membership. It should not of taken the gov passing a law dictating clients had the right to cancle it.
