“Quality content has decreased”

Alperen A.
10/6/19

I have enjoyed the Journal for more than 15 years. However, I have noticed a tremendous drop of quality content in the last decade. I understand the social era has destroyed any possibility for publications such as this to thrive by sales, yet you should focus on quality rather than quantity... Also, I don't like the fact that too much time the website has been invaded by ads and basically unbrowsable because of subscription limits... this is not the original intent of wall street journal... to spread knowledge and good content. Please find a way back to the old paper!

“Accepted an offer for what we thought was a trial, but they increased the price”

Eric M.
12/22/23

We were charged over $200 unknowingly and unable to login and customer service seemed apathetic and hell bent on refusing any sort of assistance. We reviewed subscriptions in all app stores and did not see an active account, no emails that a subscription was active. Even when logged in through the app I hit the pay wall that led me to assume we didn't have a subscription active.

WSJ has been supporting Republicans without any journalistic analysis. Agreed to publish dirt on Biden's son, suggesting paying some high-income households 2000USD does not make sense, so the whole support should be stopped and many more articles that do to make sense.

Moreover, stopping the subscription is made as hard as possible. The only way to cancel is by calling a telephone number. I had to call the US from Switzerland and have been on the line for 30 minutes.

As said by other reviewers these guys are crooks. Terrible customer service and no heads up about your subscription being renewed at a higher price. And no refund. Crooks who wrote about crooks.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t sign up. Even for the trial.

As others have mentioned, you cannot cancel your subscription without a phone call and when you do reach the person - they convince you to put the subscription on Hold - no cost to you. BUT after the 3 months hold, they restart the subscription with your credit card on file and you will see an unexpected charge and once charged, you cannot cancel. Can only wait until it expires. INSIST on cancelling your subscription and do not get "tricked" by the 3 month free period. Insist on the e-mail that shows you have cancelled it - if not, you will get an unexpected renewal charge.

Tip for consumers:
Insist on the email that shows proof of cancelation.

The product itself was good 4 stars. The part that disappointed me was how difficult it was to navigate between all the different subscription offers. I settled on the three months for a buck figuring at the end I will get a year if the product is good. I missed my deadline and was charged $43 a month for two months. Their customer service is so poor, by the time my subscription was canceled Id been billed for a third month. So $130 when a full year is offered at $67.60... But that's only for NEW customers!

I'm very satisfied with the digital edition of wsj but i placed my order for the newspaper around Dec 15th 2021 and it's now January 22nd 2022. I still have not received hard copy paper. I've called 6x and was told to wait a few days each time for it to start. Eventually i started asking for answers on by the 3rd phone call, the 4th phone call they told me the courier died but the fifth and 6th phone call they provided no answers, placed me on hold, and would not transfer me to a manager, respectively. I'm really easy to please, just want honest answers and to talk with someone that is capable... more so than answers, i just want a simple print edition of the paper delivered. Didn't realize it would be so difficult to get a paper delivered to my door each morning. (They don't refund your money, they simply keep delivering the paper after you stop your subscription. Meaning it's a scam because they charge and don't deliver your paper other than digital.)

Tip for consumers:
If you want WSJ, just get digital version.. you're just going to waste your time with hard copy shenanigan's

Products used:
Digital Copy, WSJ never sent Hard Copy even though that's what i'm paying for.

Signed up for a $1 thing. When the big charge hit I realized I forgot to cancel. I called immediately for a refund but was "offered" the chance at saving 20$ on the fee by signing up for many months. I felt hostage and did it

Then that charge hits the next month, because you can't cancel digitally, and today I cancel it outright but with no refund.

Be careful. They make their money a lot in this way I imagine. The content is nothing special or worth the money.

The online version has great information and access to old articles. But I had wanted to enjoy reading the paper with my breakfast and that was a complete failure. The weekend paper is supposed to be delivered on Saturday morning and when that fails, which is most weekends, I can register a delivery issue online. No phone number. No response. It just asks me to enjoy the online paper until the issue is resolved. No thanks!
