One of the many windows installed in 2014 is leaking again and causing damage to my home and furniture. The company will not honor the warranty. In 2014 I had approximately 18 windows and a double door installed in my home by this company known then as The Window Source now (WinChoice). The entire package carried a lifetime warranty. Approximately a year after installation we noticed in one of the rooms we rarely use that one of the windows had been leaking due to insufficient sealant and installation and caused the surrounding wall to buckle, the window sill to rotten, the wood and insulation to mold and mildew and the integrity of the floor to become compromised. We got in contact with The Window Source (WinChoice) and after some doing and investigating and taking bids the company had some contractors do the necessary repairs or so we thought. Now here we are several years later and the EXACT same window in the EXACT same room is giving us issues Again. So , it appears what the contractors gave us was a temporary fix. This has been going on at least three months now and when I noticed it I immediately contacted The Window Source now known as WinChoice USA to advise them of this issue. The company eventually sent someone out who took my water hose and spray it at my window and then told me, I don't think there is anything wrong with the window because it is not leaking, It might be coming from the installation of the solar panels you have up on the roof. I told that gentleman, I don't think so. Those panels were not even up there when the leak happened the first time and this is the exact same window, the exact same room and the exact same type of damage. He said well I don't think it has anything to do with us and I see a couple of rusty nails up there underneath the overhang and they may have damaged something when they put those panels up there. You may want to have them check it. I said that is a crock of $#*!. One thing I know for certain is they had to have a roof audit to verify the integrity of my roof before they could install the panels on the roof, they had to have a permit from the city before they could install the panels AND after they were done with the installation it had to be inspected in order for it to pass and me to get a green tag. I contacted WinChoice again about the damage and told them I wanted someone else out here to look at the damage and to also let them know that the water did not come pouring in from the water hose the day the gentleman was here but the next day there was moisture in the window sill. They scheduled the next person on the 4th of July to come out. I also just to do my due diligence
contacted Solar City my Solar Panel company and advised them of what the guy from WinChoice had said and the damage and condition of my house and they scheduled a CREW to be here July 5th. The guy came out from WinChoice 7/4 said he could not really tell he did go in the attic, said he did not smell any mold or mildew up there nothing was wet up there, he looked at the damage of and around the window and stated he wanted to help but he had to wait to get the go ahead from the office. The next day there was an 8 man crew from Solar City came out, they walked my entire roof, they walked my entire attic, they came on the inside and checked the around the window, the wall, the floor, my curtain, the back of my couch, my ceiling every place there was damage, They took pictures and I took pictures of them being here. They said Mrs Boyd we can assure you this damage ABSOLUTELY has nothing to do with us. All the insulation you had blown in the attic last winter is still nice and tall, there is no smell of mold or mildew up there, there is no water stains on your ceiling from leaks(which I already knew). They said and would you do something for us and tell whomever your window company is that tried to blame this on us, let them know that we do not nor have we ever used nails to install our panels or any of our equipment. They came out right away to satisfy the customer and to ensure good customer service. WinChoice still has not made repairs nor communicated satisfactorily. This has been ongoing for months now.
