Besides the fact I have my own web site hosted there for free - educational purposes only - wetpaint is a great start for those of us who don't have time to code a lot of stuff. Just set up your stuff and it runs. You can even map your own domain to this site as well. Mine maps there and it's cool.
Cool web site.
A hosting service providing free websites in wiki format to the fans of... well, just about anything, really. Most common fansites are, as you might expect, devoted to movies and popular TV shows, but you'll also find music and tech fansites here and even a guide to how to survive a zombie attack, which may come in useful someday. Well, you never know.
I came across this community while hunting for information about a TV show myself, and knowing that the networks may have the glossiest sites but the fans have the most information. Of most interest here is the TV Fandex, a league table of the top 100 TV fansites which at the time of writing, has "Glee" at number one, followed by True Blood, Lost, NCIS and Criminal Minds. Down at the dusty end, appropriately, are Deadwood and The Biggest Loser, whilst surprisingly, In Plain Sight, touted as one of the top cable shows, is hanging on at a barely-visible 96th position.
Creating a new site seems to be a straightforward business of choosing a theme and a URL, and inviting your friends to help you put something together, and there is the added attraction of competing with other sites in the community for annual awards. Definitely worth a look if you're into fandom in general or media fandom in particular.
Welcome to the Wetpaint Entertainment Facebook page, where obsessed TV fans meet and talk.
