“I know nothing about setting up a website but web.com...”

Kathleen H.

I know nothing about setting up a website but web.com has it simplified enough that the average basic educated human could do it. So far so good and affordable.

I cannot access my website builder and no one on the chat seems to be able to help or explain why. Worse, I've just discovered I cannot access my business's email, and I am unable to set it up because the Hosting option seems to be timing out every time I attempt to do so. As is, I'm seriously considering calling Web.com a write-off and buying a new domain name. The only thing stopping me right now is I have business cards printed with my email address (which worked_fine_ at my other hosting company).

Dont advertise it will cost 10 - 14.99 per month then charge 40. Not okay to lie. And the domain/server kinda sucks especially for 39.99 per month. Wont send appointment verification to my customers. Wont load correctly or take forever... the only reason im keeping it this month is because i got a few sales

Editing web sites is a pain. You would think it would be as easy as "drop photo here", but it is not. I cannot easily create web pages and connect them to the right page. You would think i could create the page and link it up, but it doesn't even work like that.

Reason I chose this business:

I was told it would be quick and easy and it is not.

When adding text in the text boxes, every time I hit space, it puts the next word in front of the preceding word rather than following the word. It is also very slow to make the changes I am wanting, and seems to freeze on me to where nothing is happening. I've had to close the page and log back in several times to continue my task.

Reason I chose this business:

I was looking for an affordable option for making a website for my side hustle business.

I am frustrated that I have paid so much money to design a mobile friendly website for our new business. After a month of back and forth trying to fix simple issues (a logo that is readable, and odd text wrapping), I am still no closer to my goal. I have submitted several revision requests, most of which have gone unanswered. Designer tells me that it is a known issue with their design software. What really gets me is that Web.com is soliciting more money from me for their "website analysis" to make my site mobile friendly-they gave it a score of 55. This business practice is offensive. I shouldn't have to spend more to get exactly what I asked for in the beginning. The software should be able to handle a mobile friendly site...to indicate that it can't is scummy marketing.

Connection issue with Google workspace is not working at all. It took me more than 20 days and it is still not resolved yet. It is a horrible experience. On the other hand, Website builder program is good.

The website is difficult to build and the directions confusing. The directions presuppose a lot of knowledge. The chat help only referred me to directions which I didn't understand. I'm using it now because of the effort I've put into it but a lot of strange things happen and I don't know why.

Reason I chose this business:

I've already spent a lot of time building what I have so I'm not going to change. But I would not recommend web.com to anyone

Stay on your toes with the billing. Twice they billed me for services I didn't want. When I repeatedly advised them of their error they shunted my concern to their finance department whom I could not speak to directly and who replied by email in a few days with a standard "refund denied" response. No explanation, and no chance for rebuttal.

I have had to call multiple times for the same thing and 2 of the agents were supposed to get back to me, only one did but not at the time we scheduled so I missed their call. Also, the website account manager is not processing changes I make. It goes through as if it is but then remains the same whether I wait 24-48 hours to see the change. So I am yet again on the line on hold for something that I should be able to do myself in the account manager, but am unable. Very time consuming and disruptive to business productivity.

It's taken me weeks to get issues resolved and countless hours on the phone passed from one person to the next. Most recently my web site wasn't publishing, though it said it was successful; opened multiple tickets over a couple weeks and finally someone on the phone was able to fix the issue.

With my domain transfer needing to meet the time requirements you sent me regular emails until 2 days before the transfer was eligible for transfer and then sent me an email saying that my request timed out and I would have to "purchase" a new request. None of the links on that email directed me to valid web pages.

Reason I chose this business:

Used to have a Start Logic account. That service was great, but I guess was consumed by web.com. I'm hoping I can eventually like this service too.

In addition to service charges they don't exist on other website builders being exorbit your website builtder leaves a lot to be me and I'm not really happy with the WA' I have to struggle to get anything published or how every single published website instead of just managing an entire account for a flat rate is an additional $50 or whatever it's crazy it's expensive and it's not better than other website builders like sitepad which things built directly at AC panel and it doesn't have a lot of options You charge like a premium service and then give sub premium results I on to hear temporarily so I can figure out how to move everything but of course everything has been made extremely difficult and geared towards Your proprietary stuff which leaves a lot to be lonely for

Reason I chose this business:

Cause I already had an account with them and I'm in A-war with my partner to preserve and secure my other domains and this is the only account that I had that he doesn't know about all of you getting different services as soon as I can because there's no way I can afford to run all of my websites I've left.com because it would be $4000 a month

No one I contacted made me aware of the 18 page master agreement. I would not have gone with them if I did. Automatic renewals with no notice! That was my experience.

I foolishly called to transfer my host of 25 years that was no longer hosting. Told web.com would not host my old site but will host a site they designed. They also said they do not charge by the month but do. Finally got my site up but not showing on search engines. Paid for 6 months SEO was all I wanted. The charge showed on my credit card again a day after 6 months. I disputed it but to no avail because I was not aware of it recycling. It's a long story. Closed my account a couple of days ago. Trying to determine what my bill is to get rid of them since I lost my credit card. They still bill on my lost credit card. If I was aware of the agreement I would never have gone with them. Too smart too late and too old too soon. In fairness to them their telephone response is excellent, normally 5 minutes or so.
The help person I spoke to deleted my account and said I would not be billed from that day going forward. I was told that before but saw another bill on my old credit card I do not have. Help people have to be tied in with billing for us to understand what it is we owe or will be reimbursed for once our account is closed.

I believe web.com is much improved from a year ago but am still at a loss to what I owe and how to handle it from today, March 14,2021. In the past I reached out to the CEO, Sharon Rowlands to sort out problems but feel she has larger problems to deal with. As of today, if we can agree to an amount I would like to send a check to web.com rather go through my credit card company.

I'm an 84 year old father/grand father in poor health and just want to end this.

Tip for consumers:
Do nothing until you read the 17 pages of master service agreement.
Any service must be deleted prior to the end date of service.
Note the beginning and end date and charges.
They design a good site.
