The Vivint sales rep came to my door, told me I would get $1000 for leaving my current security provider, said I would get a $200 credit toward my bill for my old doorbell camera, and have the installation fee ($399) waved if I took a picture with him holding the Vivint yard sign. When I set up my account online later with the finance company, it showed a balance of $3600. I called Vivint customer service the next day, found out none of what the sales rep said is true. I told them that was more than I wanted to pay, they said they were sorry and they could knock $10 a month off my bill for the first 12 months. So I canceled with them and said they could come get their equipment or I could send it back to them. Their Cancellation Policy says they have 20 days to come retrieve their equipment or it is the homeowners to keep or dispose of as they see fit. 20 days passed and no one from Vivint reached out to me or showed up to get the equipment. So I called them and said, I'd like to sign up for monitoring. When the rep got my information he said, sure we can restart that financing up for you. I said your cancellation policy clearly states after 20 days, that the equipment is mine, if you have not retrieved it. He said that is correct, and I replied so you guys expect me to agree to pay for equipment that I now legally own? His reply, Yes. I said no thanks and now have equipment installed at my house that is essentially worthless. Beware of shady Vivint sales reps.

BUYER BEWARE! NO PROTECTION HERE.
Firstly, it took the tech arrived the last 15 minutes of the 4-hour window we had waited in an empty home. Then it took another 4 hours to complete the installation as he kept attempting to upsell and chat about nonsense. Holes were drilled all over the place and monitors were placed haphazardly.
When the tech created our account, he spelled my name incorrectly. I've yet to be able to get anyone in the organization to update it, despite best efforts.
Next, the equipment routinely failed by sending false alarms. Eventually, we just stopped turning it on.
The website is useless. It asks for a password reset every time you log in creating nothing but more confusion and headache.
When it was time for us to move, we were charged $150 for a tech to come back to remove the equipment and ANOTHER $150 to have it reinstalled in the new place.
Finally, the contact is bogus! Outside of the one quote that was offered, charges just kept getting tacked on and automatically deducted each month. Now, we're stuck in a contract with a terrible company that provides terrible service.
Save yourself the trouble and find a better company; one that may actually care about your safety.

It sounds like a value but you get what you pay for. Requests for replacement parts or upgrades are ignored. We're still getting bills 6 months after canceling our service!

I've had Vivint since 2021 and their salesman was good. He stated they're US based and manufacture all their equipment in-house. He also said I could go to him for anything even after the installation. A month after the installation was done and they got my money, he'd refer me to call support. Fine. Typical salesman. Onto their equipment: I've had to replace the Smart Drive, a doorbell, and multiple Wi-Fi Bridges (the part that plugs into the wall). These items aren't cheap. For 2 cameras and 2 doorbells, it cost $3800 and that doesn't include tech visits (which they will do only after lengthy troubleshooting calls for $99). One camera goes offline everytime we go on a trip (which is the worst time to go offline since you'd like to monitor AND you must be present for troubleshooting). Other cameras and doorbells go offline multiple times during the day. Vivint has introduced their updated line of overpriced stuff and a newer camera with better features will run $600. For one camera. May want to steer clear of Vivint unless you like overpaying for cheap crap with poor customer service.

Stay away from Vivint
October 7, 2022

I've used the Vivint service for 3 years and it's the worst experience and biggest waste of money. The equipment is extremely overpriced and never works. I've had to contact costumer service repeatedly the entire time I've had the equipment. The staff who I speak with are friendly enough. The techs who came to my house to try to get things working when the tech in the phone couldn't were lazy for the lack of my ability to find a kinder word. Nothing ever gets fixed and they won't replace your equipment when they can see the equipment they did sell to you has been crap the entire time. They'll give you an offer to buy new equipment for tons more money.
In today's world is cheaper, easier, and more effective to buy your own cameras from someone like Ring or best buy and put together a home security system yourself. Whatever you do stay far far away from Vivint.
Take a look at the Vivint reviews that come up on your Internet search. I'm willing to bet most of the sites giving positive reviews about Vivint are not places where actual customers can leave a review such as here. What does that mean? Sponsored reviews i. E. paid reviews. Don't believe them and end up a sucker like I did.

When we first signed up for Vivint, they had AMAZING customer service, but have since switched to a call center where they read from a script in attempting to troubleshoot any issues. Furthermore, it now takes months to get an appointment and if their tech no-shows you, they'll just claim they came by and you weren't home (despite having camera evidence that shows otherwise). If I wasn't so heavily invested in having purchased the hardware, I'd be switching to SimpliSafe or some other alternative.

My mother had Vivint for almost 8 years until she had to move to a senior living facility. In that time she had multiple system issues. But that is not the worst part. When we moved her we were told all we had to do is send a 30 day notice since she was well past her 4 year contract. We sent it and they continued to charge and auto deduct from her checking account. When we stopped them from auto deducting it they started calling her and harassing her almost daily. All while we continued to try to get them to cancel the account. * months later they are still not cancelling and they have sent her to collections. When I spoke to the collection agent last night he told me that they had two options for her to continue her account at her new location or they would drop the amount that they say she owes them. We are not paying it! They owe her a refund for the amount that they deducted from her account for several months. Their customer service is the worst. If you ask them for any kind of proof they will put you on hold for HOURS. I would give them less than one star if possible. If you look on the Better Business website you will see that they have over 5450 complaints against them in the last 3 years and 2112 in just the last 12 months.

WAS TRICKED TO PAY $4,000 FOR LOUSY EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENTS. THEN NOT ONLY PAY MONTHLY FOR VIVINT ONLY EQUIPMENT, YOU HAVE ANOTHER CHARGE FOR THEIR SERVICES ALMOST $100.00 EVERY MONTHFOR 5 YEARS STUCK IN A CONTRACT. LAST, WAS DOUBLE CHARGED WITH A PROOF RECEIPT BUT THEY WILL NOT REFUND & KEPT THE OTHER CHARGE. SCARY COMPANY TO WORK WITH CAUSE THE EQUIPMENT TOTALLY SUCKS!

Should be less than ZERO. This system has been installed for 2 weeks but has only worked properly for 4 days. It has been down and not recording for the rest of the time. The customer support that's supposed to help fix it, says they don't know why it's not working. They wanted to upgrade the software. Then found out it was upgraded a week ago. Install took over 8 hours to complete. Vivnt said it was a 1hr and 45 min estimated install. Never should have taken that long. This company is a rip off and CS is terrible. Had problems from day one and still having problems. No one helps solve any issues. But they want money for more upgrades and more equipment sales but none of it works. The door and window chimes stopped working, cameras stopped working, monitor panel stopped working. And they have the nerve to over charge $3500.00 for a terrible security system that sales for 599.00 on the internet. Really really pissed after this purchase. And my home is still unsecured.

I was convinced to switch over my system. It was a disaster from start to finish and ended up deciding in 3 days to cancel the contract. First of all, the installer began after 8 PM. I ended up having to sit in my garage because he thought it was a good idea to leave the door open for 4+ hours. He would then leave the door between the garage and the house open so then there were bugs everywhere inside. Again, we are trying to protect my home and he is literally leaving it wide open for anyone to come in and steal. The sales rep over promised and I ended up needing additional equipment that they "graciously" (note sarcasm) agreed to cover because this was discovered 2.5 hours into the appointment.
The cancellation form does not provide the correct department for receipt and then when you call in you have to go thru three levels of them trying to get you to stay.
Finally they arrived to uninstall the equipment. They do not return your home or your system to its previous state although you have recorded conversations that they will. So now, I have to pay $200 (maybe more) to my original company for them to come back out and restore the system and basically be 2 weeks without any security. I will also have to have someone come in and patch and re-paint the holes that they left behind.

The equipment is about $4K. I got 2 cameras, a panel, and a motion sensor because they did not replace any window sensors.

I would not recommend

I was a customer for 10+ years. When I called when these guys were Vivint. A++ Customer service, now, not so much. They have gone up in their monthly service fee 5 years in a row since Smart Home has taken them over, they would not help upgrade my system that was 10+ years old. No upgrades, too high of monitoring fee, I went somewhere else for 1/3 rd the cost of the monthly fee. When I left, they did not want to stop my service, sent me to customer loyalty, I told them I have no loyalty, it left when they did not want to help get me better gear, they did not cancel my service and continued to call for their Service Fee, I told them to zero out my account, I stopped my service on the 1st of a month, no loyalty service desk can not do that either.
They go up and up on their service fee - which I will now save 800.00 a year (2 years pays for new equipment.
They would not stop my billing - they won't get another dime.
NOW, they want me to have loyalty to them, when they would not upgrade 10 year old gear.

This company at one time was the best, now Smart Home has ruined them, their service, the brand is now trash.

DO NOT get these guys, you are just a dollar sign to them.

I don't know anything about their Home Security Service, BUT their Customer Service SUCKS! Trying to get ahold of a live person is nearly Impossible. When you finally do, they are not very helpful. You have to go through leaps and bounds to get anything done. It is REALLY HARD to Cancel Service. Partly because you can hardly get ahold of a live person. I would NEVER Use this company!

Was a customer with Technical issues from day one, had a technician come out at least 3X a month due to camera and panel issues. Customer service was Horrible! Paid my equipment off and was told I had a contract for online services, but no equipment help after payoff. I am an embarrassed customer to trust VIVINT for home services. PLEASE CONSIDER ANOTHER COMPANY, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Cancellation/Refund

Nobody has a clue as to what your customer service team are telling it's customers! I placed the order on 7/18… Called to cancel on 7/19, mins you the order had not shipped, and that it could be cancelled. I then got an email saying that the order had shipped. I got the kit and returned to sender with the same tracking number. The representative told me that I would have to send in a cancellation letter(emailed) which I sent to them the same day. Now here is the foolishness… I was approved for a full refund on 7/21 and it would take 7-10 days to be placed back on my debit card. I have been calling everyday since 7/19 and they told me it would be in my acct on 24th latest! Still NO money! I called them yesterday and the representative in the loyalty department said that it would take 30 days I stated to the rep it's highway robbery! The have every intention of just keeping my money, huh! NEVER! This the worst customer service experience that I have ever dealt with! You have your product back FEDEX return to sender on 7/26 (tracked). Today is 8/2 and I am still WAITING for my MONEY! I would recommend doing your research before using this company!

Not the same...

We have had Vivint for years and years. We have lived in this house over 6 years and transferred service from the old house. Unfortunately this company has changed. Several months ago we ordered extra equipment. Specifically a doorbell camera and new smoke/fire detectors. The tech came out the first week after the install on the camera.
Faulty equipment. Now, we are having problems with one the smoke detectors. I might mention that we are disabled and unable to climb ladders. We finally got someone over on a Sunday afternoon to help us. The alarm rang for an hour and a half. My daughter was on the phone with Vivint for even longer. And this is the resolution: they are going to replace the product. I did not see it out of the box. It is really cheap thin plastic. It failed. It is still under warranty. But they expect me to pay for it to be installed. We have 10 ft ceilings. I am so disappointed. I am disappointed that a company that stands on it Mormon faith and principles would slide into the despair that is everywhere in our society: Get what you can get and get out.

If you are a Vivint customer good luck trying to get out of their contract because they want you to pay more to get out of the contract I should have every right to cancel my acc and subscription without having to pay anything this is a SCAM I ain't paying them crap they can keep their equipment
