Horrible experience
February 14, 2024

Horrible experience. We are bringing our dog for cadi injections to VCA Aventura Animal Hospital every 2 months for the pass several years and today they rejected to do the injection with the explanation that the dog has some ear infection and we have to spent over $400.00 first to do some ear test and treatment which has nothing to do with the appointment we scheduled for the injection. Cadi (cytopoint) injection is a treatment to reduce any allergies and slow down the itch. Our dog was treated for ear infection previously in VCA Aventura by Dr. Alexeev and I would say that he is only one doctor at this clinic who are a real doctor and provide a truly health service and not a business services to the pets.( Unfortunately he was off today and injection can be provided by any technicians)
Medical Director Gabrielle was very unprofessional as a health care provider and very good as a business provider trying to do a business first and then worry about the health of the pet.
I would not recommend this clinic if you really need a professional services to your pets. For the pass several years the doctors and personal change constantly here most likely due to unprofessional services they provided.

I brought my feral cat CT in to see Dr. DeCamp in May, CT was very sick and needed to be humanely euthanized. Dr. DeCamp confirmed my thoughts after his exam and he euthanized CT. He said he wanted to do a necropsy but since I didn't ask for it or need the answers myself he said that I would not be charged. Dr. DeCamp was kind and understood that I did not wish to incur any further charges but he wanted to answers, so he sent CT for a necropsy. Now MONTHS after the visit Lauren Hewitt checked my DEAD cat in and charged me for the service that I neither asked for OR APPROVED> I am now receiving collection letters. SHOW ME THE SIGNED TREATMENT PLAN. HOW DARE YOU. I spoke with the staff and they let her know that Dr. DeCamp told me there would be no charge. Are you so hard up for money that you are checking in dead cats months after their visit? Don't you have enough FALSE anal gland infections being diagnosed to bring in revenue?

THIS VET DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET! The doctor was incredibly rude and insensitive to my emotional situation. She insisted on me euthanizing my pet when I asked for an alternative treatment. She then persisted in arguing with me over the phone and refused to come out and talk to me personally about my pet's condition, THEN proceeded to kick me out of the vet hospital! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR PET TO LIVE. There are plenty of other vet hospitals whose staff truly care about animals and their profession.

They only got a 1 star because unfortunately you can't leave it blank, wish I could make it a zero. We took our kitty to vca river for emergency care on a Saturday evening. No tests were run because we didn't have and could not get $600 up front for their deposit for unknown treatments. They sent us home with a prescription and a wish of luck. The doctor lied on the discharge paperwork which stated that we had refused care due to lack of finances. Vca river only has one possible assistance program (care credit), which after being denied we later found out that if you don't have a credit rating of at least a 600 or better they won't assist you. Vca river refused to keep our kitty through the weekend even after we informed them that we had located funds but it would be Monday before we would have it. It is now Sunday night and our kitty has passed away in our arms due to the lack of caring and compassion and straight refusal to work with us in an effective way that could have saved our kitty life. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL,NEVER TAKE THEM TO ANY VCA HOSPITAL. THEIR STANDARD OF CARE RATING WITH THE BBB IS A 1.2 OUT OF FIVE. WHICH LITERALLY MEANS WORST IN THE BUSINESS.

My daughter's dog (LJ) got into the garage. I was concerned something may be seriously wrong. One of the vets had a cancelation so LJ was seen. I expected to spend a couple hundred dollars knowing LJ'd need an x-ray, which was $180. The vet K. L., DVM kept talking like LJ had been vomiting a lot, but LJ had only vomited once. Dr. K. L. Talked to me not with me. Then she started talking about giving LJ meds to settle the GI irritation. Being worried about LJ, I agreed to 2 prescriptions and 2 injections. I was never given an initial or updated treatment plan/estimate. I was NEVER TOLD the injections of Famotidine/ Pepcid & Maropitant were $26.75 & $107.45, respectively. If told, I would have said "NO". Needless to say I am very upset that my bill totalled $476.00. I called to get my $107.45 refunded. I was told multiple times by the hospital manager that because it was treatment LJ received my $107.45 could not be refunded. I corrected her saying that she could but won't refund my money. She admitted that was actually the case.
On a previous occasion VCA contacted the incorrect person to get authorization for additional testing. I argued and got that charge removed.
This facility used to be a small private Veterinary Hospital. There was a doctor seeing appointments, walk-ins and surgeries every day. Walk-ins were truly welcome and received the same treatment whether they needed emergency treatment or an annual exam.
Since VCA took over the services continue to decline while charges continue to increase. VCA charges $15 extra for walk-in patients. Plus, VCA wants you to make an appointment for a walk-in time-frame which is just plain stupid and contrary to the whole philosophy of convenient & easy patient access. VCA charges a day-boarding fee if your pet is there without a human, even if it's at their request and/or for their convenience. VCA obviously does not know how to provide patient friendly and convenient walk-in services.
This is one more case of small business services being far superior to those from a corporation. My family will never use VCA Petmed, Antioch, TN, again.

This was my first visit for my new dachshund Roxy and we had a great experience. The front desk girls were very friendly and helpful and Sara the Vet Tech spent lots of time explaining everything. Dr. Carlos Urday was awesome, very helpful and I feel confident in bringing my dog here for all future care.

Initially when I walked in with my sick cat, the office assistant said " we don't have walk in emergency today, come back tomorrow ", and I insisted that this is an emergency I know my cat, he would not cry like this, she called her supervisor, long story short they checked my kitty in, from here on, all services were excellent, vet tech, and specially doctor, dr Hoang was super nice and empathic, knowledgeable and explained everything in details, thank you very much for your services

We have used the VCA hospital in Ridgecrest California for almost 20 years. We have seen quite a few doctors come and go, but the care and love of our our animals has never changed. They are always compassionate and professional. The staff remains fairly constant and they too are friendly to humans and loving to fur babies.

VCA Valley Vets, 853 Falcon Park Rd, Lower Burrell, PA ******* is the worst place to take your precious animals. I was a customer close to 40 years and then it sold, and it is now a CORPORATION. Vet overturn is high, most workers are nasty and smart mouthed. My dog was dying of cancer. One morning I called for an emergency visit, was told it would be $90, I said fine, then I was asked do I think my dog was ready to be put down? What! I'm not the vet, I just need someone to look at him, ok but it will be $90, I have pet insurance ok. I was told to bring him down right now. I was up 26 hours straight, they knew this, I take care of my spouse 24/7 and I was taking care of my dog just about as much. I get there, not one person behind the counter acknowledged me. I finally told them who I was and what I was there for, just got looks. The place was not busy, I waited and waited and waited, then ask when this ER visit would happen, they said well, you are a fill in, you just have to wait until someone is available! No, I am not a fill in, I called and was told I would be an ER visit for $90.00, believe me, the $90 was mentioned over 4 times by the less than brilliant person who answered the phone. They all knew my dog had cancer and that I have been taking care of him about 6-7 weeks. Long story short an argument ensued, yes, I was mad as a hornet, one of the vets, started yelling telling me to leave, she was going to call the cops on me! I left. They knew I still had free services on my health plan, so they sent me a letter telling me I am no longer welcome at their FU Hospital. Left me hanging with no vet and a dying dog. He lived less than a week after this. All they care about is PROFIT, they do not care about animals or people. NO COMPASSION, NOTHING. I would not take a dead rat there, they would somehow make money and harm the RAT. People stick with small vets and clinics, there is where you get treated like a person, your animals are not dollars signs, never go to this ROTTEN PLACE...

I went for my 2nd vet appt after 4 weeks. I got a 'promotion' on my first visit - free exam with first visit. After our 2nd visit I noticed I was charged an exam fee. When I asked about it they told me that they don't usually charge an exam fee after just 4 weeks but they would double check. After waiting on hold, they then told me that with multiple boosters they require an exam. I was never told this before the appointment. Furthermore, the vet called me back as I was waiting for them to bring my dog out, and she asked me to bring in a stool sample. They said it was to check for any worms or parasites. Now, while I know this is important, I also told her my puppy already had THREE worm medications administered to date. Oh, its good to check anyway. Cash grab? The way they skirted around the exam fee made it VERY CLEAR they were trying to get the money back from the "free first exam". My neighbours even heard about VCA and how much of a cash grab they are. I'd rather pay MORE at another vet knowing they won't try to swindle me!

In this post, I will refer to the doctor as Dr. Nikki Cutrone. Her other names include Dr. Nikki Zisholtz, and Dr. Nikki Cutrone Zisholtz. I write this post with a broken-heart and a bucket of tears. I took my chihuahua to VCA Aventura Animal Hospital from 2016-2021. On July 15,2021, Dr. Nikki Cutrone examined my dog. She performed an x-ray and gave a prescription for cough syrup. My dog died on July 28,2021. Dr. Nikki Cutrone was negligent. She never provided me with the results of the x-ray. Dr. Cutrone did not care about my dog. They only pretend to care. In December 2020, the vet tech Giovanni told me his chihuahua does not like BLACK people. I was offended because I am a BLACK woman. I left two messages for the office manager who never returned my call. Over the years, I can count on my first-hand the number of BLACK customers I have seen in the waiting area. I can also count on my first-hand the number of BLACK employees at VCA Aventura Animal Hospital from 2016-2021. I am not a racist, so I ignored other signs of racism. I have lost my child, my friend, my world, my dog. I am posting this to help other people. On August 23,2021, Dr. Urday apologized for Dr. Cutrone's mistake. An apology will never take away the pain I will feel forever. No pet owner should have to feel this much pain because of a doctor's negligence. Skin color should not matter. Be careful everyone if you love your pet.

I have been going to this vet for a couple of years and was fine with them until my last couple of visits. Took our dog in for his annual shots and to look at a paw he was limping on. The dr gave our dog the Bordatella shot, which is optional and we don't get, without asking us. I wasn't aware until we checked out. When I saw the charge, I questioned it and the receptionist said, "too bad we can't squeeze the medicine back out of him!" That shot cost us over $50. We were prescribed medicine to help with his paw and told to make a follow up appointment. I was told the appt would be no charge since it was a follow up. We went to this appt and checked in and waited for about 10-15 minutes before being told that they canceled our appt. They had called my home phone but I didn't receive the message. I should have been notified when I checked in but was not. My son made another appt a few days later. After that appt was made, I rcvd 4 text messages, 1 call on my cell phone, 1 email, and 1 call on my home phone. Why wasn't that done when they canceled the previous appt? When my son came to the next appt he WAS charged for a follow up appt. I called immediately and expressed my frustration with this office. I was told that a manager would call me back... I NEVER received a call. I waited 2 weeks and called back again and told them my frustration and was assured that Sarah would call me that day. She NEVER called and I have not heard from anyone there... that was 2 weeks ago! I will not go back to this vet. I advise people to look over their bill before they pay it because once they get their money, they don't seem to care about your concerns!

Horrified
March 10, 2021

Worst Vet Hospital I've ever been to. Receptionists and doctors could not answer questions about my cat's health problems, and refused to work with me money wise. It was five hours later, after applying for loans, asking my family members for help, that they even suggested a "back up plan" or "last resort plan", which was a third of the initial bill. After letting me know finally of this last option, of taking my cat home to monitor him myself, the Ver did not give me proper information on how to properly maintain him, even when I asked, and failed to send me home with the proper equipment to help my cat through his pain. They did not give me pain medicine for him, and told me "He should be fine by tonight or early the next morning." When he was not "fine" the next morning, I took him back in to get whatever they messed up, fixed. The refused to fix it, and told me "you can pay everything we need to fix him, or you can put him down." About an hour later, with no other options, because I couldn't pay, decided I had to put him down. But wait, after they had given me those ONLY two options, and I had given them my final decision, they say, "Well. We can go ahead and take care of him anyways. But he can't be yours anymore. You'll have to surrender him."
Who the hell screws with someone like that over their beloved pet? There is something extremely wrong with this place. They're disgusting.
After surrendering him, they told me they have someone willing to foster him and he'll be up for adoption on their website. Well, I did my research. And even asked them which places they adopt him out from. Guess what they told me? That they "don't adopt out, and have no association with any adoption agencies"

What the f*** is wrong with this place? Disgusting people here. Do not go here.

A good vet is in Pomona, off of Gary and the 10 freeway. Never go to this Upland vet. They're despicable human beings and had no sympathy for me losing my baby boy. Never once apologized for failing to inform me of everything he needed, and withholding information about the well being of my precious furbaby.

If you care about your pet, you won't take them here.
