The fees would be more reasonable. For beginners after taxes and upwork fees there's literally no money left from the salary. But a great place to gather more experience and contacts! Easy to use and a lot of work options available.
This is my struggling period but I hope I will de standing someday in upwork platform because Upwork is becoming my loving earning platform which became a part of my
24/7 life. Thanks upwork
Upwork is an excellent platform to connect with businesses and work for them. I really enjoy the working on this platform and it's highly recommend site for every type of person
Upwork is by far my favorite freelance platform. They are the best way to declare yourself to the world (as a freelancer / individual specialist...)
Very easy and fast care about customer and freelance with amazing support and cool email notifications
Upwork is good for freelancers with beginning, intermediate or advanced skills in a particular area. There are jobs that require minimum expertise as well as more skillful jobs. It's definitely been worth it for me
Working as a translator on Upwork was a remarkable and great experience. During my first job, the process was very clear and smooth thanks to the Upwork notification. I really like this website.
The Upwork marketplace has been a driver of job opportunities and economic empowerment, much more noticeable at this time of health crisis caused by COVID-19. It is an excellent place to work / collaborate and create economic sustainability for everyone.
Upwork is a fantastic platform where dozens of potential clients are coming to you every day looking for the exact service you offer. But that doesn't mean that you'll be getting jobs left and right immediately. I had to submit over 60 proposals before I got my first job. But the good news is once you succeed in one it gets easier and easier. My next job took 13 proposals and I also got invited to a job shortly after that.
It's a great platform but be prepared to submit a lot of proposals before you get your first job.
Have not been disappointed on the upwork platform, they are very professional, attentive and you can be assured that client will pay you. Having a contract before starting a job it's an amazing idea, upwork transparency it's on another level. Have never had such a confidence on an online platform like upwork. I found assurity and security and final confidence to work on that platform.
I am a freelancer on Upwork since it was Elance/oDesk 2014 year.
The main problem on the platform can be only in the first days after registration. Hard to find a few first projects and receive first positive feedbacks. After you receive the "Rising Talent" badge you can apply much more successfully on more and more projects. But of course, you have always search for new projects, even if you currently have some. That is the main rule for all freelance platforms.
If you are a client and searching for High-quality freelancers for your projects there are many tools to find the person you need.
One-time, or long-term projects.
High-rate or low-rate freelancers.
Any budget projects and freelancers are available only on Upwork.
So please welcome.
As a freelancer, I have had relationships with several directories, but I will give a thumps-up to Upwork.
They are the best directory for freelancers.
This company is not checking freelancers for actual work history or abilities. They call people RISING TALENT with NO work history, giving a misleading application to a potential employer. Their hiding negative reviews from employers; if you give a bad review, they remove them leaving freelancers with higher ratings than they actually have. When you hire them for help to find the better talent, it's only to send you people who have already applied that have NO Upwork history and call them the best match for your job.
Altogether, this company allows employers to be scammed. We live in times now where the money from employers is tight and to lose it to a company who doesn't take responsibility for their employees and hides behind laws made to protect them is sad.
We need to hold these companies accountable for losses; if they will show their freelancers as educated and experienced RISING TALENT and it doesn't work out because they lied, Upwork should be liable. Attached is an actual response from a freelancer who has a 100% rating but when I caught him in a lie here was his response" I THINK HONESTY IS WORTHLESS" when I told Upwork they did nothing.
I have been on UpWork for roughly 4 months now and overall I'm happy with it. It's a very healthy marketplace that makes it very easy to quickly find a job. I never needed to buy any credits because I got contacted pretty much on a daily basis by companies looking for my skills, so that was very encouraging.
There are, however, a few flaws that I'm hoping UpWork will work on to improve the experience for freelancers:
1) The types of jobs tend to be on the less strategic side and fairly straightforward. I have a lot of corporate experience that could come to good use, but I can't find jobs at that level.
2) I know that UpWork has an enterprise tier, but it's unclear how as a freelancer I can access those jobs.
3) UpWork has several badges for freelancers to recognise their skills. However, it's not clear how those badges are assigned. UpWork keeps the rules about that deliberately secret, to avoid freelancers hacking them. Whilst I do understand where they are coming from, it is a bit frustrating for freelancers who work well, have consistently high reviews and have been on the platform for long enough, to not get any badge at all and not be able to understand why that is the case.
4) What I really, really don't like about UpWork is their desktop timer. First of all, I had to contact customer support twice in the space of a month because of serious bugs. Given that a freelancer's revenue depends on that app, it should work 100% flawlessly. Second, it takes six screenshots an hour and sends them to the client as proof of your work. You can stop the screenshots from going out (you might have done some internet banking and don't really want your client to see your bank statements, for example). But if you prevent screenshots from going out, it detracts some working time from the desktop timer. What's worse, they recently also introduced some tracker that counts keyboard strokes and mouse movements and again adjusts the timer accordingly. That's really not, for a number of reasons: a) it's highly intrusive and against GDPR regulation in Europe; b) UpWork never asked me for permission, nor does it make it clear on its website that it tracks this way; c) linking revenue and quality of work to the number of keystrokes or mouse touches is plain silly and goes way too far.
5) UpWork's customer service team is very friendly and quick in responding. They genuinely care about freelancers, or at least that's my impression. However, the engineering team took around a month to fix the desktop timer. Again, freelancers' revenues depend on that timer, so to take a month to fix it is seriously burdening on freelancers, who then have to explain the issues to their clients.
So, overall it's a good platform to find jobs, but I do have some issues with it which I hope will get fixed soon.
I am really happy working through upwork. I always have new clients and the website is really trustful. I trust upwork services and policies. Again, I don't regret being a freelancer at upwork.
I really like Upwork. Great website to do freelanicng at. I've been doing this for half of month and I got 350$ already have several people offering me jobs. I highly recommend to those who are freelancers.
Buuut... it's no secret:
Poor freelance support and they can delete your account PERMANENTLY if they want.
Platform's frelancers support team and their inability to solve any complex issues freelancers encounter is one of the most popular complaints seen through almost every negative Upwork review. They are slow to provide feedback, they rarely show flexibility and desire to involve in your problem, and, worst of all, they seem to believe in one thing only: the client always wins.
So, if you're counting on them taking your side, maybe it's time to lower your expectations.
I am a freelance copywriter. I was struggling to find good-paying projects and to stay safe from scammers. Upwork is so far the best marketplace for me where I can workpiece fully without the fear of scams. The customer support is great, I can communicate with the client directly and show my skills.
Best Platform Ever! Is just amazing I got 2 jobs in my first 2 days of work. If you are an entry level free lancer this is the best site for you.
I work on Upwork from 2017 and I want to share with you my experience of working on this great platform. Before Upwork platform I had a lot of clients that underestimated my skills and always tried to pull the price down for the work I did. Also nothing guaranteed the payment from clients I worked with. Being on Upwork my salary grows up every year and I always know that my work will be paid in time due to Upwork contracts system. I can say a lot of good things about this platform! I'm very satisfied! Now I always have work and long term clients that I satisfied with. Thanks Upwork for this opportunity! I highly recommend this platform for anyone who want to be successful!
Upwork has helped me a lot to grow professionally thanks to the opportunity it offers to work with people from all over the world
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
