Such a lovely family to house sit for, I felt at home immediately. My room with ensuite was lovely as is the rest of the house. Sandy set me up in his office so that I could do some work which was a total bonus. Mac, the dog, is great company and we had some really lovely walks and there are many options nearby. Highly recommended!
We only started out on this journey 5 months ago and have loved our house sits to date, what a great way to travel and see the world. The website is good, a few further updates could make it great. I have only use support once and although they were polite, I never got an answer and was left in limbo, which is why I dropped my rating.
I used TrustedHousesitters and had a sitter take care of my pet last weekend. For the amount of traveling I do, this service pays itself many times over. It is fraction of cost as compared to other services( like rover) where I would have to pay 20$ minimum per night for a pet sitter to stay at my place.
I am very happy with the company and would suggest it to my friends. Only problem is unless you live in a city or a popular tourist destination, you might not find many sitters. Coz I live in a city, I had 3-5 applications for every sit date.
This was my first hose sit / pet sit with Trusted Housesitters. Rob, Christa and family were so welcoming. We ran through the responsibilities and enjoyed supper together.
The house and gardens are beautiful and a wonderful opportunity to get away from it all.
Hector and Hamish were very well behaved cats and enjoyed a stroke or cuddle.
I managed to visit a few National Trust properties nearby as well as enjoy country living.
The idea behind this website is that pet- and homeowners can review sitters, in their own words, for the benefit of other pet- and homeowners. That's why the company name includes the word "trusted." But when I wrote a negative review of a psychotic sitter who stayed in my home March 2017, the company took it down. I re-posted milder reviews; the company took those down too. It seems the psycho was threatening the customer service reps. Finally, all record of the house-sit simply disappeared from the website, and the psycho is still out there. There are plenty of other pet sitting services; don't use this one. And if you must, don't let Susan Gans in your home!
TrustedHousesitters has been amazing for me. It not only has given me an affordable way to travel and stay in amazing places worldwide, I am never without the love and company of my other passion... fur buddies. I have been welcomed and treated royally by every pet owner I have sat for and love having the companionship by their adorable pets, usually dogs and cats but even a couple of wonderful chickens.
I highly recommend using TrustedHousesitters, it's a easy to use website that connects home/ pet owners with people who have a passion for both traveling and animals.
I have used trustedhousesitters numerous times over the last few years with 100% satisfaction. When I first heard about the site, I thought that it was too good to be true, but it is not! We have met some lovely people and become friends with some - all trustworthy and reliable. People tend to look after a home as if it were their own. I firmly believe that anyone who misuses the site would be banned in a hurry. Highly recommended!
I've used this service twice and each time we were most impressed. We now have two large Bernese Mountain dogs and three cats (two large Main Coons one with issues) and we were hesitant at first until I heard first hand from a neighbour how great the arranging and evaluation parts of this service are so I felt assured. Both sits were more than exceptional.The sitters were everything and more than what we expected. Our pets were not only properly cared for but loved.

My husband and I signed up and became members of Trusted Housesitters about 5 years ago now. We are anxious to retire and start being sitters, but in the meantime, have had 5 or 6 different people/couples/sitters come and stay in our homes while we took vacations. I even bought a membership for my 25 yrs. Old daughter and her boyfriend, so that they can go on vacation and have someone stay in their Apt. To care for their 3 cats. It's been wonderful and we have not had an issue yet! We are very happy to have our freedom to go away and know that our home and pets are well taken care of.
Trusted Housesitters is a great organization. We've been super pleased with the sitters we've had (at least 7 now) and I tell everyone I know about it. It's so relaxing to know we'll be returning after an absence to a clean house, happy pet, and cared-for garden. We were very careful when vetting the profiles and subsequent exchanges with sitters, and that has worked well for us.
I appreciate that trusted house sitters does a background check and provides other ways for a users to verify who they will trust with the most precious things in their lives which are their pets and homes. I have had nothing but a positive experience through the website and on my first few house sits as I travel.
I absolutely love TrustedHousesitters - it has been a revelation to me. A have managed to find the most wonderful people to look after my pup when I had to go away on a business trip at short notice. I'm so impressed - the sitter, Claudia was an absolute gem of a find. She sent regular updates and my home was well looked after too - plants all thrived under her loving care which was an added bonus! My experience has been nothing short of amazing - and I look forward to using it again in the future and have no doubt from the people who applied initially there are tons of brilliant, caring sitters who will be just as good as my first. I could not imagine having a better first experience house sitting anywhere else! Seth and Lynette were the most gracious, kind, and generous hosts. These are some of the nicest people you could possibly meet. Their little dog, Bella, is so calm and gentle. She has a cute little dance she does if you ask her if she wants to go to the park for a walk.
My time was so relaxed and enjoyable. Seth and Lynette made things incredibly comfortable and simple for me. If you get the chance to sit for them, you should jump at the chance. I'm grateful to have had such an encounter, especially my first time out of the box.
The initial set up is a bit sticky and one must take a leap of faith to trust a stranger with your house and pets but I hope you have an experience as perfect as we did. Our sitter was clean, thoughtful and a true animal lover. Give it a try.
After our initial experience with house/pet sitters we will definitely be using Trusted House Sitters again. Going away and having that peace of mind that your house and animals are in such good hands certainly makes for a relaxing start to your holidays.
Both parties score, as they are each providing a benefit to the others need. It is amazing to choose several destinations around the world, and get to experience life as a local, caring for their home and pets, what a great concept of a global community coming together to swap desires!

Trusted house sitters was a great find for us! Not having anyone to look after our pets in our home was stopping us from holidaying! The sitters that apply to you have a "resume" of sorts with reviews. They are all pet oriented so you know your pet family members will be cared for as if you were still home with them! It's easy to join and get started!
Jim and Diane looked after our house and Dog, cat, Chicken and fish for 3 months in southern Spain. They where fantastic, nothing was a problem and very trust worthy. They now have become good friends and look after our beloved pets when ever we need them. I would recommend them to anyone. Michelle.

I am very sorry to see you have left this review, before we have concluded our investigation into this entire matter, and been able to offer a resolution to the dispute you and the house sitter are currently in regarding the nature of the reviews posted.
I remain very sorry you had this experience with this sitter, I would like however on this forum to reiterate what we have already discussed regarding our Review and Referencing policy:
All sitters have the option to leave Feedback for home owners once the sit is complete, to which the home owner can respond. All home and pet owners have the option to leave a review for the sitter, again once the sit has finished and to that the sitter can respond. All reviews, responses and feedback appear on the profile / listing page of the member.
This is a exceptionally important part of the experience and membership, that keeps up the trust and communication within this sharing economy. However like anything there does have to be policies surrounding this in the event of a dispute.
Reviews, feedback and responses must abide by our Guidelines and the Code of Conduct, that all members must adhere to. The TrustedHousesitters policy is not to delete or edit reviews, it is a 100% tamper proof system, that is relied upon very heavily for members making their decisions.
However, there are rare cases in which we may take the extraordinary step of removing a review or disallowing review responses. We reserve the right to remove content that violates our guidelines.
In your case, your reviews have only been temporarily removed, so as not to fuel the situation any further, whilst we conduct our investigation into the complaints that have been raised on both sides, rest assured once this matter is resolved, the review can be re posted (as long as it remains within the guidelines)
