Easy to make contact with home owners and our first sit was easily sorted through a few emails and exchanges. We've recommended the website to many of our friends, and we already look forward to our next sit in a few weeks time.
We have been Trusted Housesitters for 2 years and recommend this service to anyone interested in having a special experience while traveling. We have had the privilege of sitting for lovely people all over Australia and have become good friends with many of them. The word "trust" is important: those seeking sitters trust us to be trustworthy and in turn, we trust them to be who they claim to be. It has always worked out beyond expectations. We will continue to use Tustedhousesitters for our extraordinary experiences while traveling.
This was my first time using Trustedhousesitters.com and it ended up being an easy and worthwhile experience. I had many concerns at first; am I ok with a stranger in my house?, What if they don't take good care of our kitties? What if they commit then cancel last minute? I decided to throw caution to the wind, signed up/posted ad, received MANY responses, and after some phone interviews chose a wonderfully sweet person to watch our 3 kitties while we were away for 12 days. The website put me in touch with many great options and the person we ended up choosing was responsible, kind, took great care of our house and communicated with us while we were away. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation and the best part is we came home to 3 very happy and healthy kitties. I feel very comfortable in using TrustedHouseSitters.com again and might even consider pet/housesitting for others when I travel. Thank you!
I was unsure if I could trust the service of trusted house sitters. But we went on vacation for two weeks and the sitters we picked were amazing. I still can't believe we saved $800 on kennel costs. This service was $100 and we're going to get 2-3 sits a year for that. That's a savings of approximately $1500 a year. It's amazing. I'm so happy I found this service. Pups were happy to stay home too and our plants were watered! Win win.
First, you have to pay, then you have to work for free (as a house sitter, you are not allowed to negotiate a fee). They push the wonders of taking "vacations" in wonderful places, but as a professional house-sitter and animal caretaker, I know all too well how much work it can be. Many of the places are other countries which are costly to travel to and will take you away from your actual paying gigs. So, unless you are independently wealthy and have nothing better to do, do NOT waste your time and money. The will NOT refund your money and they are pretty rude about deleting your account. Pretty much a hoax for house sitters, and a boon for folks looking for free labour.
The site works well - though there were a few technical glitches at first - and has an enormous number of house sits listed all over the world. I think house owners being able to put up references directly on the site gives the site an edge on others and should reassure future owners. All the house sits I've done have been most successful. House owners have been very helpful and accommodating and all the animals I have had in my care have been lovely.
I love to feel like a local when I travel and dislike the coldness and inconvenience of hotels. With trusted housesitters I have made friends, both animal and human, relaxed onto my surroundings, and felt at home away from home.
Feeling very sorry for Vicki. We have two wonderful pets a lovely large comfortable home. We leave food for any sitter. Full notes of what our pets need. I have even insured our car in the past for them to drive. They have their own bathroom access to phone. Large garden with secure electric gates and good neighbours. So this is why I was so disappointed that Trusted House sitters are just a faceless company and not helping good sitters to find a good sit to do. Nice people are out there and nice sitters. THS should be working harder to do what they say put people in touch with each other but also be a responsible and helpful fair and trusworthy company. Take the word Trusted out of the heading that would be a start.

The site is excellent as you can filter your selection which makes it a lot easier. I have just finished my first housesit that was arranged through THS and it was a huge success. I am looking forward to my next sit.

I had a lovely sit near Gatwick airport and enjoyed a company of a very lovable cat. I am now on my next sit and again have a great time with two cute kitties. I am looking forward to explore more of the world using this site to help me meet people, enjoy the company of animals and cut travel costs.
If you have pets & like to travel, this is the site for you! I have used it 11 times with great success & my poodle, June & I have even been invited to the wedding of her very first sitters. It's the answer to my prayers!
I like to have pets, but only part time. TrustedHouseSitters allows me to do just that. It is like having your own pets for a period of time. Other benefits include being able to choose your spots for a break.
Of course you have to be flexible about your expectations, but that is part of the charm... you may be deciding to go away but you don't know where until you find the right sit for you.
And apart from caring for nice pets, you get to know new, interesting people!
This site offers lots of experienced and professional sitters. You can easily find qualified and professional sitters with years of experience and reviews. Just make sure that you post your ad weeks ahead since all the good sitters book ahead!
The site is easy to use and offers a huge variety of housesits.
Communication through the site is excellent - great to be able to see photographs and an approximate map before applying.
References for both hosts and house sitters also a great idea so you both know what to expect.
This is our first year using the site and we have loved it!
This is a useful service, and we've had some very trustworthy and wonderful sitters as a result. The one caveat is that they've moved from their simple website that was very clear and straightfoward to one with a lot of names and confusing labels, and my heart sinks when I have to use it.

Beautiful cats in a beautiful and comfortable house. We had a very enjoyable stay in Helen and David's house looking after Coco and Mimi. The cats are lovely. The house is centrally located and David gave us some good tips about where to eat, and where to cycle to etc. With their playful antics Coco and Mimi made us laugh a lot & it was great to give them cuddles.
I have had very good results using this site. I have had 5 or 6 housesitters, almost all of which did an amazing job. My husband and I also used to site to visit the UK and house sit there, and we had a great time. I feel lucky that this service is available.

I am sorry to hear that the concept of TrustedHousesitters does not work for you. We understand that the site does not meet everyone's needs and paid house sitting is not something that we offer.
Being part of the TrustedHousesitters community is a win-win for both owners and sitters. Both sides of the network pay the same yearly membership fee and as part of the sharing economy, it is extremely important to us that members benefit equally. We are connected by all being a community of pet lovers!
It is about finding the right sit for you, with like-minded owners. If a sit, for example, is on a smallholding in Devon caring for five sheep and that's not your thing but a flat in London caring for a really cool cat is, then that's great! We are all individuals and the beauty of the site is you get to apply for the sits that work for you. There are also lots of sits based in each home country so there is no need to travel if that is not something that you wish to do. I myself love exploring different areas of the UK and having a pet to snuggle and care for is really great.
Whilst you will need to keep the home that you are staying in clean and tidy as you would your own home, there should be no added jobs. In exchange, sitters are getting a unique experience, meeting new people, making friends, exploring new places, being part of a local community and most importantly companionship from some amazing pets!
