The company has garnered significant criticism for its customer service, with many customers expressing frustration over the lack of responsive support and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Common complaints include billing issues, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of accountability for damages caused by sitters. While some users reported positive experiences with sitters, the overall sentiment reflects a sense of disappointment and mistrust, particularly among sitters who feel exploited by the fee structure. The company appears to prioritize marketing efforts over customer satisfaction, leading to a growing perception of unprofessionalism and dissatisfaction among users.

I've used TrustedHousesitters as both a home/pet owner and as a house/pet sitter. It works great in both directions, for a win-win and the happiest possible pets. I've met some great people and gotten to stay in interesting places. Trust develops quickly when everyone loves fur babies. Overall, a fantastic value and a service that makes the world a better place.
Such an easy yet secure system, delivering wonderful travel opportunities for sitters and peace of mind for home owners.
I've enjoyed my sits and met some lovely people, and their pets. And the hosts have all told me they're happy with the system too so it's a win-win all round.
We have just started using this site as a way to look after pets since we are not allowed to have them in our condo. So far it has been a good experience and the daily updates as to what is available seem to honestly portray the owners, pets and homes. There is enough information and it is helpful to have pictures and clearly outlined responsibilities. The site offers a wonderful service.
Beautiful cats in a beautiful and comfortable house. We had a very enjoyable stay in Helen and David's house looking after Coco and Mimi. The cats are lovely. The house is centrally located and David gave us some good tips about where to eat, and where to cycle to etc. With their playful antics Coco and Mimi made us laugh a lot & it was great to give them cuddles.
Great website to use. House sitting allows you more time and flexibility in your travels. It's good to be a part of a community rather than just a fleeting visitor.
TrustedHouseSitters allows me to focus on the giving. The platform ensures that sitters have the information required to care for the home and pets efficiently and effectively. One ends up enjoying the experience so much that it feels more like receiving than giving.
We used this site to find housesits in Australia and it worked out quite well. Compared to the money we would have to pay for a regular accommodation for a 8 week stay the sign on fee is really cheap. But there is no guarantee that you will find and get a housesit. We have had to apply for many housesits. Some house owners never answered, some just declined but in the end we found really good sits.
I often house sit for friends & family, but this was my first experience using TrustedHousesitters.com. I had a wonderful sit (exceeded all expectations) & highly recommend it. I joined because I love animals & travelling, but housing can be expensive. What better way to visit places you've always wanted to go, & learn about & experience other cultures, than to house sit in a location, home, & with the animal companions of your choice. I like how the opportunities are presented (listings, profile pages, references & feedback/reviews); that the homes & sitters are at least somewhat vetted; that you have a free place to stay (you may have to provide your own food & transportation), that you & the homeowners can communicate confidentiality before committing to the sit to make sure you understand your responsibilities, duties, expectations, additional details, etc.; & that TrustedHousesitters.com staff & veterinarians are available 24/7 in case you need help. The final agreement is between you & the homeowners (contract, guide/more information, etc.). I think that the resource materials & services you receive are well worth the membership fee (which can be discounted several ways, including by referral).
I just had a sit 20 miles from my brother's house. It was so convenient because I could visit them whenever and then have my own place to relax in. I'm heading to another sit in a town I'm moving back to so I can look for housing.
My favourite travel accomodation website. Easy to use, so many countries available to travel while taking care of the pets agains free accomodation. Their application in Android is very much needed though!
Daily emails with all house and pet sits available. Put in country order to help find a sit quickly. Answers your questions quickly and promptly if you should have any problems.
Enabled family reunions with my scattered children together with opportunity to meet new people. I tell everyone I meet about Trusted Housesitters and they promise to visit the website.
This was my first hose sit / pet sit with Trusted Housesitters. Rob, Christa and family were so welcoming. We ran through the responsibilities and enjoyed supper together.
The house and gardens are beautiful and a wonderful opportunity to get away from it all.
Hector and Hamish were very well behaved cats and enjoyed a stroke or cuddle.
I managed to visit a few National Trust properties nearby as well as enjoy country living.
A trustworthy reliable and respected organisation that you can actually talk with, which offers international opportunities to live in homes, borrow pets,... and all by clicking on their website. The new app is very friendly even if there are some glitches as yet. Professional staff who appear to be human beings who care. Gosh... What a joy! Retirement boring? No chance!
Hello. I am a trusted housesitter and proud to be part of this organization. I enjoy animals and travel and am a responsible person, and unlike others that left low reviews, I personally like that the sitter and those needing a sit have to pay. It sorts out those that are serious and establishes a level of vested interest on the part of both parties. I have enjoyed two sits now and have had a wonderful experience taking care of the homes and animals at both (it is hard to leave, as a truly bonded with the pets personally). I am really fortunate to have discovered you folks and have discovered a way to travel deeper into a physical location. I only wish that there was an option to go back and become a house owner in need AND a pet sitter (option given at the onset, but not after you have chosen to be only a pet sitter). Perhaps give people that are good sitters this option after they have experienced the organization? It is just a suggestion.
TrustedHouseSitters is where I have been the most successful at finding what I need. At the moment I am only using the site to find sits in the USA and they seem to have more sits available than most other sites.
I joined Trustedhousitters recently and have already enjoyed 2 pets and houses and will go to another one shortly. I believe it is a great idea for pets lover to travel and meet new people.
What a great idea, website, app and daily update option! We had a wonderful time in London recently and were invited back again straight away. We are also going to Bath in a few weeks too! We love animals but are unable to have the daily commitment of our own, so we have lots of love to give the pets we look after and we get to travel and stay in great places for free too! Win, win! So glad I discovered this amazing business! If you are thinking about joining give it a go you won't regret it!
I love this site, meeting new people and animals, whether for a week or a long weekend. So looking forward to continuing to visit various places and meet new people and animals. Thankyou
We have had very good housesitting experiences, largely due to the homeowners' friendliness and their efforts to make us feel valued. Trusted House Sitters website makes it easy to have a positive, win-win relationship with each other.
Answer: Fees are an annual membership for both homeowner and pet sitters (approx $120). With thousands of members, I've not had any problem finding a sitter.
Answer: Hi Jim, when house sitting it is expected that you will take care of your own cooking, etc. You will have full use of the homeowners kitchen facilities. We hope this helps. TrustedTeam
Answer: Yes. It depends on where you live but this couple is beyond question the best and dependable and honest. Debbie and Wil Wilburn. debbieandwillwilburn@gmail.com Please give my name: Fluffy's mom
Answer: Your accommodations are free. You still have to get there on your own. Since accommodations are often the biggest expense of a trip, it is a great deal. Use code RAF270183 to get 25% off you annual membership fee.
Answer: Hi Caroline, Thank you for your question, forgive my delayed reply. If you haven't already contacted the Membership Services Team (https://support.trustedhousesitters.com/hc/en-gb) I would encourage you to do so and they will help you to get this resolved. Kind Regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
Answer: Hi Sada, You'll be able to read reviews of the sitters on their profiles. If there isn't anything showing, then this indicates that the sitter doesn't have any reviews just yet. If there is something else that we can do to help, please do get in touch with Membership Services, and we'll be more than happy to speak with you further. Kind regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
