The worst management I have ever seen
February 23, 2024

The TJ Max in lake Mary Florida had the worst management I've honestly ever seen. I decided to head over to the cosmetic side of the store to see their new arrivals. As I'm shopping minding my business per usual, a young girl that works there passed by me with a big rack of clothes. She couldn't have been more than 18. As she's passing by I seen another tj max employee following behind her about 12 feet away. Well the one following the girl with the rack starts yelling her name I could tell she was a manager at this point. The young girl turns around and stops doing what she's doing to talk with her manager. This all happened with me and another woman standing between the two employees. So, the "manager" starts asking the girl why she was still there working. The young girl proceeded to explain to her "boss" that she was asked to do something from another manager and wanted to stay working because there was a lot of stuff that needed to be done and she didn't mind staying to help. The "Manager" at this point is talking over the girl and says "WHO ASKED YOU AND WHO TOLD YOU, YOU COULD STAY!?" The young girl proceeded to tell the boss that she had advised another manager and that it was approved. The "manager" yells at the employee asking her what time she was scheduled to be off, the girl said "My schedule time to get off was 2 but thought I could stay to help out some". (At this point its 3pm) Then, the "manager" very very rudely said "Absolutely not you need to leave!" Me and the other woman are sitting right there listening to this conversation and the manager had no regards on us (customers) standing right there. The young girl very politely said "Yes mam" and stops what she's doing. TJ max do better! This was so aggravating to watch and listen too. You guys sit and complain that no body wants to work nowadays and then yell at the employees that are busting their asses to go home. This was RIDICULOUS. I stayed in that general area still shopping the cosmetics aisle right next to the fitting rooms. IMMEDIATELY after the first incident, no more than 2 mins another "Manager" starts walking towards the dressing room and gets about 14 feet away from the fitting room and starts yelling at the employee working the fitting rooms! His exact words "YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE NEW TO THE FITTING ROOM AREA CAUSE YOU ARE DOING $#*! THE WRONG WAY! AND OBVIOUSLY NEED FURTHER TRAINING THIS IS JUST STUPID" Me and the other lady look at each other with our mouths dropped! We couldn't believe what we just heard and witnessed. Remind you, he is 14 feet away from that employee and the entire 4 other rows heard him. She was so embarrassed. TJ MAX get it together! There is a time and place for you to advise what your employee did wrong in a PROFESSIONAL manner. You are supposed to help your employees to become better especially after they make a mistake. To sit there an basically belittle an employee in front of customers is not the correct way! I felt so bad for these two employees that where just trying to help. They didn't deserve to be talked to like a child! I had an entire cart filled with stuff that I loved but after witnessing what I just did I didn't want to give you guys any money. Me and the other lady that witnessed this with me decided to leave our carts with everything in it and walked out. DO BETTER!

Aleiah offered me a Tjmaxx rewards card. no late fees, cancellaion fees, or overdraft fees. fraud protection 0% interest for fifteen months. very low apr score. low apr scores do NOT effect your credit. easy to pay off one of the best credit cards i have ever used.trendy and still trending great prices for inflation employees get paid$12/hr which is not enough for thecost of living in our inflation-econonmy right now.

Rude treatment when returning damaged items received from online order
April 27, 2021

TJ takes no care in how they pack their online orders. I got a huge box of heavy items and more than half of it was ruined and leaking. Only one or two items had protective bubble wrapping. All thrown in a huge box, no cushioning.

Of greatest concern was the fact that there were four very heavy rechargeable batteries in the box. This is most likely what caused a lot of the damaged items. They were labeled, "Hazardous" and "Wash Hands after Handling".

The presence of these hazardous batteries were the deciding factor in my decision to take the return in to the store rather than returning it by Fedex.

I went through the invoice and marked the quantity of damaged items, organized them by type and took to the store for return. This was a large order and this was quite a bit of work, but I figured it would simplify things when I went in. Still, the in-store part took well over an hour and the "coordinator" was patronizing to the point of being entirely rude.

When I told her about the batteries, she attempted to refuse accepting them, saying "We have no way to dispose of these."

She called a manager over and beckoned to her to have a private conversation in an adjoining cashier bay, behind a dividing wall. As if I were suspect. I went around the barrier and questioned why the conversation needed to be private.

The manager told me that that store was getting a new recycling vendor within the next week or so and that they would dispose of these properly.

After that exchange, the coordinator dropped her snide and condescending manner.

Although I had the invoice, the number was not on it, so I had to either accept a store credit or come back. Also, I had not brought the credit card I had used for the transaction (silly me, I thought that would be in their computer), so I accepted the store credit.

I did, however, refuse to show my driver's license. I had a valid receipt. It was not my fault it didn't have the needed info on it. Plus I had to wait a good half hour while the coordinator keyed in all the info because of the lack of the invoice number on the TJonline-printed receipt. Normally, I would've just showed the license. But they were treating me like some kind of bum despite the fact of being greatly inconvenienced by TJ's foul ups.

I had counted the items and totaled so that it would be easy to determine if I had received the correct credit. When they came up one item short in their count, the manager was called again. Her count was one item short. To verify my notes made ahead of time (made specifically to avoid this type of issue and time wasting), I counted and found my notation was correct. Another thing I would've just passed over if I had not been treated in such a disdainful manner.

After an additional five minutes wasted, their finally conceded that my count was the correct one. Did they say, "oh, sorry"? Lol.

Any time I pointed out their unhappy as-if-I-were-somehow-to-blame demeanor, they kept saying "Online returns are such a problem" or something like that. Yes, I understand that. But they ARE on the clock, no? They made it very clear that I was a nuisance.

Conclusion: Don't order too many items in one order, don't mix heavy items in one order. Use their return tag to return damaged items. When they say you can return online items to the store, it doesn't mean you'll receive civil treatment if you do that.

Tip for consumers:

Don't return items from online order to the store unless you want to be treated like a nuisance.

Products used:

All of the undamaged items that I received., All of the undamaged items that I received.

Very unfriendly associates specifically at TJ MAXX at Port Arthur TX!
November 15, 2019

Today, between around 4:15 to 4:45pm, an associate asked me to leave in an aisle where I was still looking at some sweaters. I thought she was just passing through but she actually stayed there and started re-arranging the clothes I was browsing. How inconvenient for me as a customer to Immediately pick up my stuff and be asked to leave. The associate (named Jay G. [a young lady]) was not even respectful enough to say "I am so sorry ma'am but I have to arrange the clothes here" & I will be definitely ok with that; instead she acted boastful and very not accommodating! Yes she said excuse me but stared at me long so disrespectfully enough that made me uncomfortable & felt she was waiting for me to leave the area (which happens to be the very reason she was saying excuse me for!). What made it worst was when I reported it to the manager, the manager too was not apologetic herself! Even when I told her that I felt disrespected by their associate, Jay G, the manager insisted & said "Well she said excuse me to you and I don't see what's wrong with that!". TALK ABOUT BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE there! I love TJ Maxx & and all their items especially their clothes!. But because of these two inconsiderate, disrespectful, not accommodating & unreasonable employees who work at their Port Arthur branch, I may not come back for a while.
Customers should be treated with RESPECT & should be given necessary accommodations especially when one expressed how they felt being treated that way. The manager should know better! Obviously, the manager does not know good customer service herself!
I just hope & pray for these two people that they do not affect the store with their negative attitude!
You do not deserve to be a part of such a great store! TJ Maxx must be careful in hiring people like them for they ruin the store's good reputation. I still LOVE TJ MAXX! I just hope that this is the first & last time I would get mistreated & disrespected by their employees.

And to the alleged "store manager" I suggest that you go through some customer workshop to improve your service & customer relation ethics and realize that your number one priority must be customer satisfaction with respect.

~From a loyal & concerned TJ Maxx customer.
