I am really very good about making sure I read reviews...
May 14, 2011

I am really very good about making sure I read reviews before making any online purchases.

I did not with Thunder Cameras. I watched, and waited as prices went up and down, When they went up, I thought I had waited too long in hesitation, and lost my chance at a great deal (little did I know) I would once again wait months until I had thee opportunity to snag that great deal. It finally happend! Without checking ANY reviews, I pounced on the deal of the day, fearing I would lose another great price.
This was nearly 3 weeks ago that had I made my purchase. All I wanted, and ordered was the D5000. Who could refuse the price of 204$ right? All my card information was given that evening ( on their site) My order was in place. The next I recieved a phone call from Thunder cameras. They needed my cvc number. Ok I thought, here you go, thinking to myself, "why not just put that line in on thee order form" ok, whatever. Well needless to say, it didn't end there. The man tried to get me to buy a card for 199$. Really? Wow, must be one hell of a fantastic card. I declined of course. Questioning what had I got myself into. He also proceeded to sell me lenses for the camera, I again declined I have lenses for my other camera, and told him this, and that I was all set. Just need the camera. He was polite enough, but I could hear frustration in his voice. The call ended.
I got home to check my email, and low and behold, I had an apologetic email from Thunder Cameras, stating that once my order reached the shipping floor, they discovered that this very popular item was backordered. It would be backordered for 2 weeks,
Already being suspicious, I checked the time on my cell phone, to the time they had "backordered" my item. 15 minutes had passed by. I knew by not ordering all thee accessories they tried to sell me, that I was not going to recieve the camera. Luckily they had not charged my card.
I left them email just thee other day inquiring about my order. No response.
Buyers beware, unless you plan or not plan on being snookered by these crooks, just pass them on by, They have an F rating on the BBB (Better Business Bueau) I will never get the camera, but luckily I didnt fall for their scam of buying extra, needless, pricey items, and they didnt charge my card. They need to be shut down, Hopfully everyone writing reviews, people will listen and stay away, and THEY will go away. Any sites with super low prices do the same thing. Save yourself the frustration, and just stay away, Also check out Thoughts of Daves website. He has great ways to get these guys where it hurts!

THUNDER CAMERAS IS A SCAM!
November 12, 2010

THUNDER CAMERAS IS A SCAM! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! THUNDER CAMERAS IS A SCAM!

I ordered a Canon 5D Mark II as I broke my 50D that was no longer under warranty. I ordered the camera on October 28th, 2010. On the 29th, I was contacted to "verify" my order can they stated they needed my security code on my American Express. The original camera I ordered turned out to be a Japanese version that would be imported which I would not be able to understand. I no problem switching to the US version which was more money, but still cheaper than going to B&H and buying it. The representative told me I'd pay 2543. 54 with tax and fees. The 5D Mark II is 2499. 99 in stores without tax so of course I pulled the trigger on the buy. So... TWO WEEKS LATER...

TWO LONG WEEKS LATER... I Finally get an email saying my order was processed and it was shipped. Guess what? No tracking information, which was clearly stated in the email that it was attached. I called and they were rude, told me that they have no control of the "tracking department" and had no tracking information available for me. Mind you, they said I'm expected to get the package the coming Wednesday. I asked them how they could possibly tell me I'd get it the cominf Wednesday yet they have no tracking information on my package. He asked me for my email to sent to the "tracking department" so they can resend my tracking information. I told them they emailed me the very email they said it was and there was no need to give my email again. He began to get loud with me, irate, talking over me and said he was going to cancel my order and only charge me shipping! I responded saying "YOU'RE NOT CANCELLING MY ORDER. IT'S MY ORDER AND I'M TELLING YOU NOT TO CANCEL IT." As I stated in the beginning of my order, I ordered using American Express! I know how to handle weisels like the people at Thunder Cameras. I won't be paying for ANYTHING, including the 7% he said i'd be charged for the shipping. Regardless of whether the camera finally comes or not, i'll be sending it back and they'll eat the shipping costs. I'm not giving my hard earned money to poeple who don't know how to conduct business.

Hello,
November 10, 2010

Hello,

I found Thundercameras.com on the web and was amazed at their unbelievably reasonable prices (first red flag). I wish that I would've found all the different websites regarding the numerous negative complaints filed against this company before placing my order. Unfortunately, I didn't and placed an order for the Canon T21 which they had unbelievably priced for only $529 with free shipping and a free flash. Their website specifically stated "Usually ships in 1 to 2 business days." Being sold by the looks of the website and positive testimonials, I placed the order and immediately received a confirmation number. I was really excited to hear I was getting such a good deal! The very next day I received an E-mail stating a rep needed to speak with me regarding my order. I called and spoke with a salesman who asked for the three digit code from the back of my credit card. Immediately after, he tried to talk me out of the camera saying it was an import and the menus would be in Japanese and that I should buy the Domestic version which is much higher! I told him no and that I was happy with the import model. He acted very angry and said whatever, and proceeded to harp on it having no warranty, no battery, and no charger. Regardless, I said that was OK. The very next day I received an E-mail stating the Canon T2i had just went on back order right around the time I placed my order and it could take up to a month to get (what a coincidence). Well, the order was placed on Oct 1st and am still waiting and as of today it's been well over a month! I have actually called them on four different occasions yet they just keep on telling me they expect them in about another week? In the meantime, I noticed they still have the same camera listed yet the price is now $699 and amazingly it still shows "Usually ships in 1 to 2 days." I decided to call and inquire about the camera as though I was a new customer. I asked the sales rep if I ordered the camera today, is it in stock so I could expect it soon? The salesman specifically stated "yes" this camera is in stock and will ship immediately! Well, that sure was odd considering every time I call about my order for the same item, they keep telling me to wait about another week due to it still being on back order. When I immediately called back to confront the manager regarding this, would you believe he actually told me they are just telling customers this to get sales and meet their quota! How fair is this to us as a customer? These guys are out and out crooks! I have also approached the support link on their website and tried to contact them in writing inquiring about my order, and to this day, they have never even replied or so much as called me to let me know what's going on with my order. I have finally come to the realization they are never going to make right on this order! My advise for anyone considering doing business with this company is to stay as far away them as possible. If not, you will definitely be deceived and dissatisfied to say the least. I plan on filing numerous other complaints such as the office of the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. I have taken the time to write all of this so that hopefully it won't happen to you!

UPDATE:
I placed this review on Saturday Nov 6st, and amazingly they called me on Sunday stating if I would remove this review they would ship my order yet with a different lens! They specifically stated they would not ship it until I removed my review! These people are the worst I've ever dealt with on the internet! My advise is to stay far far away from these crooks!

They are deceiving in Sales, deceitful in Shipping...
May 25, 2010

They are deceiving in Sales, deceitful in Shipping and full of excuses, Customer support is rude, thoughtless, manipulative and crooked.

Im on the boarder of calling NY Better Business.

I wanted to buy the Canon 5DM2 for my video company.
David at TC told me I was getting the body for around 2300. 00
I bought it on May 4th, 2010.

He added that the there was a package deal that if I buy an extra battery for the 5D that I get a 2nd one free.

I asked specifically if it was a Canon Battery and not a 3rd part battery for the 5D.
He said yes.

I was sent 2 3rd party batteries that gave me a warning that they were not compatible, do you want to continue... this sucks.

Then He said he was putting into my PACKAGE DEAL a nice 24-70mm Sigma lens that was 2.8.

I got a cheat Sigma Lense that was 2.8 - F5.

That was May 4th, 2010.

On May 14th, I got a email stating congrats your order was just shipped!
I called on May 14th to see where my order was.

When I opened the box, I was missing a battery too.

Customer Service was rude saying don't worry, you will get it in Monday.
My wedding was monday at Nestldown and I didn't get to used it.

I called on the 18th, 19th and 20th to get ahold of Customer support for refund.
No Answer.

They claimed it was a Jewish Holiday, not.
They then said it was beyond the return time frame, not.
They then wouldn't take back the batteries.
They then wanted to charge me 800.00 for a Canon 15mm fisheye.
I was quoted earlier 634.00, he said no 700.00 for plastic ring version
800.00 for metal version.
There is only one version by Canon and still sells for avg of 650.00 online.
They wouldn't let me return the ND Filter too.
Stay with B&H.com, they don't swindle you and lie to you.
Worst experience I have ever had and I was polite the whole time.

Their paperwork won't show the price you paid for each item so, it doesn't help your accountant or for seeing what they have to refund you back if you return items.
I was quoted 2300. 00 for my 5Dm2 and then was told 2499. 00 by customer support so, they wouldn't have to refund me back the full amount for the lense.
Very disrespectful and rude on the phone.
