I ordered meals for a friend who was scheduled for a hip operation. She is a vegetarian, so I ordered vegetarian meals, the first to be delivered the day after she returned from surgery. Those meals didn't arrive. The following week SunBasket sent beef and chicken dinners! My friend couldn't eat them. The following week, two more meat meals! A complete waste and ill-timed! I called and was told by the customer rep, who didn't apologize, and that SunBasket would refund me half the cost of the meals, not the total cost for which I asked! I finally hung up on the rep as he kept on talking, wouldn't explain the delay, and would only say that in order to address the matter he would have to talk with his team! A waste of my time.
Tough to rate the service when I couldn't even sign up. Their database didn't have my shipping address listed so my account wasn't accepted even though I live in a major city in a building that has been around for 100 years. The customer service rep passed me around for about two hours until they solved the issue. Well, only to find out same issue with the billing address for the credit card. This time it was unsolvable and hour three I lost patience and signed up with a competitor. The whole process seemed sketchy and did not inspire confidence I'd ever see the product.

We enjoyed the food and varity of options. I'm GF and we used that and Paleo options. The trouble started the third week into our subscription. The order was a day late but food was fresh and cold. It appeared from tracking that the delay was from the shipper. This week my order hasn't been delivered and the tracking says it hasn't gone out yet. I have no luck with all the automated contact. There's no personal service and no way to resolve a situation like mine. Very disappointed. Cancelling and will try another service.

I decided to try SunBasket again since the pandemic has taken another turn and the holidays are here so grocery stores are busier. I ordered two meals. Should have been $53 (estimated). I got a charge on my credit card of $77! I'm getting some beans and an egg, and a two pieces of fish. Seriously? I could actually do the same meal for under $25. I tried the chat... had same experience as everyone else and it just ran me around in circles. Let's do be clear about one thing, folks. We are into this pandemic now for what, 8? 9 months? Are you seriously believing that poor customer services is still related to covid? Uh... seems a bit off to me. Seems to me the perfect way to not have to address the poor business practice and quality issues (which is why I left last time. My food always had an inedible something in the box)... It's been two years since I used the service. I'm done. Cancelled. Will probably give the overpriced fish and beans away. SunBasket is a true joke. Poor business. Wish I could give minus five stars!

I bought two gift cards for friends through Sun Basket. I thought they'd be decent since Williams Sonoma is promoting them on their website. Both recipients had terrible customer service experiences. When their orders didn't come up to the $100 I gifted them, Sun Basket wouldn't refund them (or me, the buyer) the $20 balances. They only want subscriptions, they don't care about someone who places a single-meal order, even as a gift. I have no idea how the food is; one recipient was so upset she told me to cancel and get a refund.
Snuck extra charges on my meal in small print that I missed. Wouldn't do anything about it. They didn't even put up a fight when I immediately canceled so I'm sure this is a common occurance.

I was so excited to try this company. I placed my first order and had no trouble receiving the product.
I used the $35 off coupon that was advertised on the website. To my dismay, I checked my credit card bill and found that I was charged full price and my coupon was not honored. I figured that this mistake would quickly be solved once I contacted customer service. Unbelievably, the customer service representative told me that my coupon ‘expired' and they refused to help me. That coupon is STILL currently on their website ( and clearly NOT expired.). To provide context, this was my very first purchase. I have never found a more inept customer service group. I have tried another food delivery service in the past (Home Chef) and it had to excellent customer service. I will return to Home Chef immediately! I'm just so shocked at the slow and inept responses of this team.

Delivery was fine and boxes are well insulated with dry ice so the food stays fresh in hot weather. The non-oven direct meals were a bit involved so prep wasn't quick. Ingredients were all good, healthy and fresh, but unfortunately after perhaps 10 meals, I didn't find any that I'm really interested in eating again. It's not that the food is bad, it's just bland and not wildly delicious as they advertise. I've had Trader Joe's frozen food which while not as healthy, tastes better. Also had an issue with one of the ice bags leaking from the box onto our wood floor, that's annoying and hopefully it hasn't damaged it.

*Delivery hours between 8AM-8PM and usually arrives by 10 AM, but no delivery at usual time so... *July 27 - I signed up for delivery updates at 4PM *July 27 - Computerized chat with Sun Basket at 8:00 PM with horrible chat system *July 27,9:30PM - contacted shipping company *July 27 Delivery arrived at 11:10PM, no text update, no knock. Had the dog not alerted me, it would have sat outside until morning! Today is August 4, and the only contact I've received from SunBasket, even after I sent them a picture of moldy peppers, is a FAKE email as a follow-up to a"phone conversation" with me that NEVER TOOK PLACE. Fantastic food if you have no issues with deliver(probably tied to the roof of a Prius, SERIOUSLY) or if you have no issues with arrival times. I was REALLY HOPING THIS WAS GOING TO WORK OUT. It's the first delivery service we have ever done. I cancelled all future orders.
****August 5,2020 - After reading my review, Sun Basket reached out to me. They agreed that there was a glitch in communication and that my delivery, so far outside regular delivery hours, was unacceptable. They handled the problem professionally and in good faith. Sun Basket has so much going for it. I'd be happy to return when I see that reviews show improved communication systems and customer service staff.

I never heard of Sun Basket until Bank of America alerted me to fraudulent activity by Sun Basket. Fortunetly the bank was able to recover the $300 taken by Sun Basket on July 18,2020. Beware of Sun Basket and keep an eye on your bank account.

I have been a customer since 2015. The last few months it seems the service has changed dramatically. My orders have not arrived and the last one has completely wrong dinners and then half of the ingredients were missing. I agree that getting in touch with them is virtually impossible.

After joining I received my first delivery as scheduled. The food was okay overall, although the portions are on the small side. The food is not worth the expensive price tag. They have a "default" menu that gets sent unless you make changes. Since I didn't care for any of the selections, I waited two weeks to order again. The next delivery was cancelled "because the box was damaged by the carrier." That week no food arrived from Sunbasket. I gave them one more try, and ordered again two weeks later. I received an email the day before delivery was expected stating they once again cancelled my order due to a "warehouse issue." I got frustrated and totally fed up with them and cancelled my subscription. And yes, their site makes it difficult to find as others said. I received an email confirming the cancellation, but the next day was sent an email stating a delivery was on the way. They sent a default shipment of food I did not want. I then went through the pain of their terrible phone customer service. I called and explained the situation, and the rep hung up on me. I called back and a different rep hung up and called back this time. She stated it was too late to cancel the order, and she could only refund $20. I informed her they had cancelled my order, not me, and I did not agree to being sent a "default" menu. She then proceeded to tell me again, no refund. I could however, dispute the charge with my credit card company. I was so angry by then I could scream. I asked for her to put someone on the phone with the power to refund the full amount. After a few minutes, she said "a supervisor said the full charge would be refunded." I can only imagine how many people they attempt to screw over daily. They are very untrustworthy and unreliable in my opinion, and I would advise people to stay away from this company.

These meals are appetizingly pleasing. The price can be steep. However, the deal breaker for me is the delivery system. They are not obligated to notify the customer that their food has been delivered by simply ringing the bell... Consequently your food can sit in the sweltering sun for hours without you knowing it had been delivered. It would be nice to inform customers of this option before they buy the product..

All the meals seem to be very bland and oddly put together as far as ingredients. The packaging and everything else was great, just not impressed with the overall recipes. Tried it for two weeks.

Terrible customer service. Sun Basket takes forever to respond to emails and concerns. They advertises that the food is organic, but no, in order to get the organic food in your subscription, they upcharge you from their base rate unlike other food subscription companies that offer far better customer service and only offer organic food and don't upcharge you for it. These folks are not interested in providing good customer service. Don't do it.

Charged before sending your order to you. After trying the first order - we canceled but they had already taken our $80 from our credit card. Guess we are stuck with the next order but very disappointed so far with the first 2 meals we received. I can do better in the grocery stores. I was unable to get anybody on the phone. The texting service and email service do not reply to the issue you talked about. They charged me shipping when the shipping should have been free. The order came a day late and the meats were completely thawed out. The customer service may be horrible due to the virus. However, I have learned my lesson and will not try a food delivery service again. It's easier just to do a pick up at Food Lion or Walmart.

The customer service is via chat only, so you can't easily get anything on your account corrected. It seems like they randomly lock you out of things in your account, without notice of any sort - such as changing your delivery to every other week, while still paying for weekly account. Customer service is usually terrible from most companies, usually teenagers often with poor english or writing skills, but add onto that unapologetically saying that you are locked out and thinking they have done their job is pretty pathetic.
Currently my first order is a day late, with no notification of the date change. The carrier only gives a window of a date before 8 PM, which means you'll have to be home for a 12 hour period waiting for food - unless they decide to not show up that day. I fully expect most of my $300 order to have thawed/melted and gone bad. This company seems to be con-artists with no way of contacting a real person.
** The account locking ended up being taken care of, but there have been multiple issues since. All relating to extremely poor delivery & notifications - the delivery carrier for SoCal is awful, and they are regularly a day or more late. With zero notifications that they aren't showing up, and no way to get in contact with anyone (much like Sunbasket customer service dept.). Wasted days sitting at home waiting for food. And when the food is delivered spoiled/thawed/rotting after days late, Sunbasket customer service does not give refunds or credit your account - not even an apology.
The responses that I got were basically "well, sometimes deliveries are late..." (which started to be the norm, not sometimes) One person in particular, named Brittany, was such a terrible Customer Service person that she didn't seem to understand that the company she works for is a food delivery service. Not delivering when promised, food not being edible after days late, and terrible customer service (even just getting an answer whatever method text/email/phone call). None of the three things of FOOD DELIVERY SERVICE were being done.
I canceled my subscription with Sunbasket and am using Home Chef, they give notifications ahead of time if there are delays & use a professional carrier Fedex that gives text/email notifications for when they are showing up, and progress of the delivery - so you can plan around time to receive it. So much better than some stoned Uber kid throwing your half destroyed box of food on your porch two days late.
