I have really been ripped off by these people. After reading a positive review by a journalist (a plant?) in a Memphis newspaper, I went online on August 25,2010 and participated in an auction. I paid almost $150.00 in bids (didn't know I WAS) and won a TV for another $150.00 So, they quickly got my money and I am still waiting for the TV. They occasionally send a short e-mail in response to my complaints but reading them is like reading something sent from outer space by an extra terrestrial who is trying to speak English. Have other people been scammed to this extent ($300)?

It is a complete scam. By the time I received my credit card bill & a charge for $149, they had changed their website. NOW, it states that they would charge $149 for the so called "free bids". I had read the fine print previously & that was not there. As with many people I thought they would use my credit card if I won something & only then. My credit card company will not refund or help me in any way. It is Bank of America & I am sick of it. That was my account, but they are sticking up for the scammers by not crediting my account. There is not a valid phone number or e-mail address for these crooks. I used both & no answer on phone or e-mail. I have reported both the site and the bank to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov. Everyone needs to file a complaint.

I received a vote of confidence from a close friend and also saw some reviews that were positive about SPEEDYBUYS.COM, only to find out like everyone else that this co. Is a total SCAM! I too gave them my credit information, thinking they would use it to comfirm any win. When I tried to retrieve my forgotten password they told me to check my e-mail for the password. I have attempted to get it about 7 or 8 times... NOTHING! Having read all the reviews I decided to check my bank account and sure enough they have charged my credit card! I am mad as hell and will be at the bank first thing Monday morning. I should have read more before I signed up for those fraudulent 300 so called free bids. Buyer Beware!

Like many thousands of others... I heard about Speedybuys when it was promoted on a morning tv show. I assumed it was reputable because of this.
I signed up because it was free to do so. You had to enter credit card info - I assumed they needed it in case you won an action. It also came with 300 free bids. There was no mention of any charges anywhere.
It took me 3 weeks before I checked my credit card statement and realized they charged me $149! I contacted them and asked for a refund - they said there were no refunds and the $149 charge was clearly listed (which, by the way - now it IS clearly listed - they have since changed the website)
I disputed with my credit card company, who call to talk about it this morning. They also got a customer service rep on the line from Speedybuys to talk with us.
He started off saying the charges were clearly listed, but said he would offer me a $75 refund. Now, I was still really mad and frustrated but I kept calm, realizing that there was nothing I could do against this company and a partial refund was better that nothing at all. So I agreed to that.
My Credit Card company still felt bad and decided to also give me a credit of $30. They are still investigating though and we will see if anything else happens. Or even if I get my $75 refund?

I too am experiencing problems with Speedybuys. When I first joined them, several months ago, they seemed very legit. I got my 300 free bids and had won and recieved my erchandise as advertised. However on the last winner I won a webcam.At first they didn't send it and when I let them know they did reluctantly sent it. When I went to use it I found that it would only work with older windows 95 or 97. Not a great loss, I actually got it for. 50 plus shipping. Then the site went to only cheap purses and coffee makers and junk. I have contacted them with no response in email and phone. I have 870 bids waiting to be used. I beleive I have been scamed. This website is a total scam absolutely avoid it. I signed up to check it out because an article from gazette made it sound like it was really cool. When signing up I was asked to put my credit card information. I overlooked the terms and conditions not knowing that hidden inside the content was the charge. I accepted the terms and conditions. Next thing I was charged 149.00 and that resulted in my bank account being overdrawn. I called the company and demanded a refund and to cancel my account and the representative was very rude and told me that there was no refunds. Now I had to pay for my bank account to be brought to a positive balance and wait to dispute the charge. All this trouble just to sign up to a website. Its companies like this that make it hard for hardworking people to do business on the internet. Also the website sucks there's really nothing good on it except for electronic stuff which everybody will bid on so you probably don't stand a chance. Ebay is much better at least they conduct an honest business. Lets put these greedy crooks out of business and let the world know about this scam of a business called speedybuys.com.

Speedybuys.com is a bait and switch scam. I was reading a FOX News article on line when I came across an add for 150 "FREE" bids to try their site out. I fell hook line and sinker for the scam. I clicked on their ad and was redirected to their site. When you get to the site, they ask you to enter personal information in case you win a bid. What they don't say is that in reality you are buying 300 bids and you never get the free ones. Then they charge your credit card for $149.00 for the 300 bids. I did not like the site nor how they ran the bidding process so I immediately sent them a note to cancel the account. A couple of days later I had my charge account hit with a $149.00 fee for, "Professional Services". I filed a dispute with my credit card company and thought everything was over. Well, after 15 e-mails back and forth my credit card company re-credited speedybuys and basically told me tough luck speedybuys disclosed the cost which they don't do if you get there via their, "FREE" bid ad. I guess if you go to their site via a browser search then they disclose the charge. At least that's what my bank told me.

WENT ON THE SITE WHICH SHOWED PENNY AUCTIONS FOR SOME GREAT STUFF (LIKE APPLE NOTEBOOK COMPUTER) WHICH YOU (THEY SAID) COULD GET FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR 40 DOLLARS FOR A NOTEBOOK COMPUTER... I SPENT 4 MINUTES ON THE SITE USING WHAT I THOUGHT WERE 300 FREE BIDS... WHEN AN AUCTION WAS ABOUT TO END SO YOU COULD WIN IT... THEY ADD MINUTES TO THE TIMER SO IT NEVER RUNS OUT... I COULD SEE IT WAS A RIPOFF SO I LEFT THE SITE... NOT THINKING ABOUT IT AGAIN UNTIL I SAW A 149 DOLLAR CHARGE ON MY CREDIT CARD... FOR NOTHING! THEY ARE REFUSING TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK SO I AM FILING A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FOR FRAUD... DONT GO NEAR THIS SITE... LYNN M

This site is a scam. I also signed up not realizing there was a $149 charge for the 300 bids not reading the fine print. I first terminated a card but it had already been charged. I won an auction for a $50 best buy card which was about $10 total with delivery and have yet to get this card. I emailed them recently to say it has never arrived and they said theyd refer it to their distribution dept. More likely I will never get this card and now Im out more than $149.00. I wanted to see if this site was legit or not so I stayed on to not lose the 189 bids I have left but havent made a bit since I won that auction. Again now I believe I have been scammed and there is no way to dispute this at the bank for those trying unless you stopped your credit card or bank card before the payments went through. How can get this this site shut down and our money back? Does anyone know so others who are scammed won't go through this, Look how much money this site has scammed off all of us and continues to scam people. Has anyone received any merchandise from this site? Id like to know.

I thought I was just registering and was immediately charged $149.00. I call and spoke to someone for a refund and they said I had to send email. The response on the email said it was non-refundable... I talked to my bank about disputing it, but waited. I saw they had a compaq computer on auction... my laptop is 8 yrs old, so I decided to bid on it. I waited until it got down to 2 minutes and started bidding. I was online for over 3 hours becuase everytime someone bid, it increased the time. It finally got to under 30 sec... even then went on another 30 minutes... finally, it counted down to 0 sec... with me being the last bidder... the words "Ended" popped up... I was estastic... winning the first time... then the timer reset to 2 minutes and started all over... I sent an email stating what happened requesting that if I had not won the computer to refund my money... the reply didn't address the fraudulent action of the auction, just stated that I could not get a refund of money... It is definitely a scam... don't even try to participate in the auction... I am disputing the charge thru my bank today!

I responded to an ad while browsing and this took me to a Gazette article and it looked like a legitimate experience of winning items by bidding on overstocked items.
I registered for it and gave my bank card info thinking they needed it in case I won a bid. I didn't stay on the bid page long because I didn't see anything I wanted and didn't quite understand it. I later looked online to see whether it Speedybuys was a legitimate business and saw a lot of very upset people having been scammed. I saw that it mentioned a hidden charge of $149.00. I called their number and the girl said that I had agreed to pay for 300 bids and that it was on the registration page. I never saw it and asked that I withdraw my registration. She said I had to send an email and that perhaps they'd refund the money. I had no idea that my account had been CHARGED! I sent the email and I got a reply that I had agreed to the charge on the registration page. I called my bank and if the charge goes through, I can call back to report that it is a fraudulent business. I have written to Speedybuys and told them that I will make a report to my bank, the BBB and to online reports about them.

I went to the website to learn what it was about, including seeing what type of items they had for sale. I thought i was entering my personal information - including my credit card information - for future use only. I never bid on anything. Then the $149 charge appeared on my credit card statment. I called the company and they said i had to submit a refund request in writing, which i did, only to be told that i made a valid purchase (of future bids) and that no refunds would be granted. I then called back the company and the "customer service" rep who answered said he only helps with order fulfillment and couldn't help me, so I asked to be transferred to refunds and he said his phones can't make transfers. I then asked to speak to his supervisor and he said he didn't have one. I then asked to speak to the president of the company and he said he didn't know who that was. And i then said that I wanted to speak to anyone in a higher level position and he said none existed. THIS IS A SCAM!

I rolled over an ad at "Fox News" a few days ago and saw what I thought was a pretty good deal. It was called "SPEEDYBUYS" where items like 42" LCD TVs were going for nothing. So I signed up giving them my "Credit Card" Info thinking that info would be used for auctions that I won. Well I went in and started bidding and was surprised that every time the auction came down to a few seconds it would add another minute or so to the time.
It was so ridiculous I left the web page not thinking anything about it. After two days I was looking at my bank account and saw a charge to my credit card for $149.00 from SPEEDYBUYS and was thinking I won an Auction or something. Come to find out I did not win anything and started researching what was going on. I found out that they were charging me a fee for the initial 300 bids that I knew nothing about since they were hidden in there "terms and conditions" which is a clickable at the bottom of the sign up page that they know no-one will click on.
So I sent an email with my info requesting my money back. I got a reply stating that once bids are purchased they cannot be refunded... and so on la de da de.
I will get my money back since I will be disputing the charge on my card but this is a bit ridiculous since they say there product is so good they should be able to refund me the money asap. But I have a feeling that they are not really doing any real business except for ripping consumers off.

So lets put these CON Artist out of Business. Everyone needs to dispute the charges on their cards, and post this info all over the net so it comes up first on a Google Search.
