Have always been very honest
November 9, 2021

GENERAL OVERVIEW: i've bought from them a couple of times, but it's always just been snakes. I bought a leucistic ball python, and two anery corn snakes. They always sent me exactly what i ordered, never scammed me & that's alot coming from someone who has been scammed by other companies in the past, just trying to find a reputable one.

SELECTION: Their selection is at times a bit more limited than some other places, but you can't beat their honesty. It's actually my first choice for snakes, provided they have the species/morph i am looking for.

HEALTH OF ANIMALS: both times, you could tell they really took good care of their animals. Even the ball python was a very healthy weight. I mention this only because most other ball python breeders i've run into will basically starve them to save $. They put the health of their animals before $ and that is very important to me.
LONG-TERM HEALTH: all three snakes ate like champs at the first time i fed them, and have continued ever since. The ball python is a couple years old now and the corns are several months of age. They never had any signs of mites, tremors, kinks, etc.

TEMPERAMENT: you could tell these guys had already had a few short bouts of handling. They were fairly tame, and easy to handle. They never coiled or hissed, at first were a bit shy but still calm. Only took a few weeks & they'd already lost most of that shyness.

CONS: perhaps the #1 downside here is that in most cases, you can't select a specific snake. You can choose male vs female, but it's a stock photo so while it will be very close, your snake may or may not look exactly like the one in the photos. I've never tried to make a special request, though. They might actually take special requests? I just know that if you do not specify, you just kinda get luck of the draw.

This next one probably is only an issue for me bc my geographical situation is quite unusual... and it's not really a con because i understand why they do it. They're doing it for the safety of the animals and i actually prefer that over convenience. Im in a rural area, live over an hr away from the nearest hub. On their website it basically mentions that sometimes even if temps fall within safe range, they may still decide to hold at the fedex hub. For this reason, i am hesitant to buy in when temps are barely above/below required lows/highs. But really it's not too much of a inconvenience all i have to do is time all my orders with the weather.

Not terrible but there are better choices
August 28, 2021

So the TL; DR is I did receive a snake and it was healthy, but the company did not send me what I ordered and was not transparent with me about the switch they made.

I ordered an extreme reverse okeetee corn snake, I think they only ship between Monday-Wednesday so I had to wait a few days and I was not able to find a confirmation email. I was out of town over the weekend but it worked out well with the delivery time. When I got home I was going to ask about it but it was delivered later that day (I think on a Tuesday or Wednesday, all of the details about the delivery are not that important other than the confirmation email issue).

My snake arrived healthy, others mentioned that their snake was too small to ship, since this is my first snake I don't know the "do's and dont's", but the problem is I received a butter stripe morph and NOT the ERO that I ordered. I was just excited to have my snake and didn't want to go through the trouble of sending it back, when I contacted them they said "there was a mix up with another customer" and "the ERO was not eating", regardless of what the truth is, if they told me about this beforehand, I would have gladly picked out another morph that I liked, or I would have waited for the ERO to start feeding to ensure it was healthy before it arrived.

Customer service did offer to replace the snake and offered a refund on my next order, I did not feel ripped off because both snakes were the same price, but I will say I am going to get an ERO, but I am going to get it somewhere else so I know I am getting what I ordered.

I love my butter stripe, it is a beautiful snake but just beware, you might want to ask beforehand just to make sure that the specific snake you are looking for is available / healthy / as listed, etc. Because I feel like they will just swap something out and say "hey well who cares it's a snake and it's the same price".

The good news is I ordered a 50 pack of frozen pinkies and they arrived still frozen solid and in good condition. The snake also arrived packed very well with a cold pack and was beautiful and good health (other than a slight neck kink but I don't think it will affect the long term health and ability of the snake to eat.) Someone else I met made me aware of the mixed reviews. I feel sorry for anyone that ended up with an unhealthy animal or felt ripped of for whatever reason. Even though I did not get perfect service, it could have been much worse, just remember: don't be afraid to do your research and ask questions.

Tip for consumers:

Do your research and ask questions about the specific animal you want to purchase.

Just a lil rant
May 24, 2020

Ok so I'm not really complaining here we'll I guess I am. But this is my second time ordered from was. The first time I ordered a fire ball python an at the time I was still new to the world of snakes. He was only my second snake an I had just acquired my first a couple of months prior to ordering him. The only complaint I had last yr was that he seemed a lil to skinny an his belly was a lil to pink like it was starting to get a burn. I didn't think to weigh him like I said I was new to snakes. Well this go round. I ordered a pinstripe ball python. He came in on time was very active an alret. I'm happy with my lil dude. An don't get me wrong I appreciate was bc they made a mistake an refunded me my money as I requested an still sent me the snake. My biggest problem is for one why lie to me. I'm not stupid. I asked them how old my lil dude was an they told me about three months. Well here's were I know better because when I weighed him he was only 61 gs. Now your telling me you've been feeding my lil guy every week for three months and he only weighs 61gs. There's no way. Second. I feel sixty one is to small to ship. There lucky he made it to me alive. Just seems to Young an small to handle the stress of shipping. Their. The web site shows that he would come to me at between eighty five to 125. So if he's weighing so lil. Either he's a fresh hatchling or they weren't feeding him properly. See when I did weigh my first one he was a lil over one sixty I believe but that was after a couple of feedings. See the staff seems friendly enough both times I never had any problems with them but when I said something to them about the size an weight of my new lil dude I never got a response. Either they were starving myhim or he's a hatchling who can't be an established eater. I haven't had a chance t feed him yet because like I said I had cancelled my order an don't have the appropriate sized food. I will have the right sized here in the next week or two.im not really complaining here. I just don't like the shape my lil dude came an hate to see what kind of condition they keep there other animals in. Don't get me wrong he doesn't seem to affected by. He's very lovely alert curious an active. A lot of babies his size an approximate age are usually a lil fiesty but not this lil dude. Haven't had any problems with him yet. Lol. Any way my ranting an raving is over..

Arrogant unprofessional and careless
May 24, 2016

I saw a really nice gargoyle gecko listed by these guys and decided to purchase him. After giving them all my info (email, phone number, shipping address) we settled on a shipping date. Unfortunately as the delivery date approached my fathers health declined and he had to be hospitalized. I rescheduled all of my work appointments for the day to spend some time at the hospital with my dad then realized "Oh! The gecko gets delivered tomorrow. I have to make sure I'm there to receive it." Bright and early I woke up and went into work JUST to receive the package. Hours went by and fed ex never showed up. Unable to track the package (as they never even supplied me with a tracking number) I began to really worry about the gecko. I called Snakes At Sunset twice to try to find out what was going on and got an answering machine. This was around 11:00 when they open. Eventually realizing that my package was not going to be delivered (it was already passed the 10:30 guaranteed delivery time) I left to go visit my dad. Later that day after waiting for a call back that never came, I called and got an employee who supplied me with a tracking number. I called fed ex and was told that Snakes at sunset botched the shipping address. Irritating, but mistakes happen right? I called beck to snakes at sunset to update them as to where the gecko was thinking that they'd be concerned just like me. Another employee answers the phone and before I can even tell him why I was calling he tells me he wouldn't be able to help me because he really doesn't know what he's doing?! He instructed me to "call back in about ten minutes and ask for Mike". Ten minutes go by and I call again. Someone answers and I politely say "Is mike available please?" I get a super blunt and rude response of "what's your call about" with obvious attitude. I explain the situation and finally ask "is this Mike?" Thinking don't tell me this rude $&@ hole is the owner. His reply is "no... he's too busy"... Not sorry but he's really busy right now. Can he give you a call back in a minute or something tactful like that but "he's too busy" my response was to ask (irritated at this point) "He's too busy to talk to a customer who's live animal is lost in the mail because of his company's mistake?" A properly trained employee at this point would probably apologize and put the boss on the phone, but instead he gives me a smart-$#*! "yes". After flat out telling him "Put Mike on the phone!" several times he finally gives in. He puts Mike on and I explain what is going on and how rudely I'd been treated by his employees and was told by Mike that "Yes" he is "to busy" and that he has 3 customers in his store! I guess making another sale is more important than following up on making sure animals make it to their new homes safely.
His solution to the problem was to tell me to track down the package myself( which at this point I had already done). I told him it was at a fed ex location an hour away from my house. And he told me he was too busy to talk "go pick it up. No apology for his companies mistake, no apology for his employees or HIS rude behavior... Not even the slightest concern for the animal itself just "I'm busy... Go pick it up. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS "MAN" OR HIS PITIFUL EXCUSE FOR A "BUSINESS". There are tons of knowledgable polite professional alternatives out there. I wish I had read reviews On Snakes At Sunset before I gave him my business. At least in the end the gecko made it out of that place and found a good home :)
