We used to love our Smart Car until we needed to replace a missing air conditioning fan volume knob, a part which probably costs $1 or less. We live in Florida, and the missing knob renders our a/c unit useless. In calling Smart Dealers all over the country, we were told we could not replace just the knob. Instead, we would have to replace the entire dash console for a whopping $231.00 plus $75 installation. We contacted Smart USA, who told us the same thing. Then we went up the food chain. We called Mr. Drew Slavin in the Corporate office and sent him photos of the dashboard and part we needed. He was going on his anniversary trip and said he would meet with the head of engineering when he returned. Instead, we received a call from a woman named Kyla who advised us that the Company was unwilling to help us in anyway, other than to sell us A NEW SMART CAR OR MERCEDES BENZ. What?! Who in their right mind would buy another Smart Car in order to get a knob? For that matter, who would buy another Smart Car knowing that the only solution to getting a replacement part is to replace the car entirely? Mercedes/Smart... WE'RE SMARTER THAN THAT!
