Have placed two previous orders with SBG, and all was well. Three weeks ago ordered and PAID FOR sunglasses that were 'fast shipping'.
A few days ago received an invoice for customs duties from the courier company. They will not deliver until I pay the duties! I did not import anything! I ordered from the South African website for delivery in South Africa. Shipping is free! Customs duty is payable by SBG! They brought them into the country, and it's not my problem where they come from. I have emailed at least 10 times with no response at all. Have tried to post on their Facebook page, but the post doesn't come up. Have messaged them on Facebook, and other stuff, and no response. I want a refund, or I want my glasses delivered for free as advertized and as I paid for! I feel they may have intentionally put my address on the parcel which came directly from Hong Kong in the hope I would just pay the duties. Disgusting!

SmartbuyGlasses is a scam site.! People please stay away from this site... I am from South africa, my name is HIRAL. I WAS BROWSING ONLINE TO BUY SUNGLASSES AT GOOD PRICE. HENCE GOOGLE DIRECTED ME TO SMARTBUYGLASSES. CO.ZA THEIR SUNGLASSES WERE MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE SHOPS. HENCE GOT TEMPTED AND CHOSE ONE FROM SMARTBUYGLASSES.CO.ZA SUNGLASSES NAME:- TOM FORD- FANY. I PAID R3,061, them the email comes and says the order cannot be processed because it is showing them threat and the payment is not going through... hence they say I must pay from PayPal and they will refund me... I am still waiting for refund.! It still never arrived! There is no rating to this site! I had to rate just to allow this comment to post and people should be aware of this site.!
Smartbuyglass is a $#*! site...

I have been reassured time after time that my account has been refunded but have had no refund whatsoever.

I have now opened up a case at the police station regarding this matter - if I find no resolution - that being my full promised refund, I will be asking everyone who has been scammed by smg to get into contact with me, collaborate and strengthen our case and investigation against them.

ABSA in Sandton will be obligated to investigate sbg's account activities and authenticity as a reseller of its products.

Smart buy sunglasses I have time and effort on my side.
I have had enough of your unfulfilled promises.

REFUND MY ACCOUNT OR I WILL PERSUE THIS MATTER.

I have had a very unpleasant experience with buying sunglasses from this site. I have lots of experience with internet shopping, but this is something I have never experienced! I came across this site that seemed great and sold sunglasses for 40% less than the shops. I ordered a pair of Guess sunglasses at the beginning of July. This has a South African website address and you are led to believe that you are buying sunglasses from South Africa and they say delivery will be within "5 to 11 working days" (so how could they come from overseas?). Well, 3 weeks after ordering and paying for my sunglasses I received a phone call from a courier company in Jo'burg asking me for my email address so that they could send me the invoice for the customs dues I have to pay for these sunglasses (around R170)! Now, I know that when one orders from overseas, customs dues and VAT is usually charged, but NOT when you are ordering from a South African website where there is NO mention on the site that you will be charged customs. This is illegal. I wrote to them (there is no phone number on the site) saying that I would not be paying any customs, and after a few emails they replied agreeing to pay it, but said it would take a while as they had to contact their "distribution centre" and it would be much quicker if I paid the customs and then emailed them the invoice for a refund on the customs. I was not going to pay out any more money so told them they would have to pay it and deliver the glasses to me. 10 days later and still no sign of the glasses, and the tracking website info had not changed - it still said "attempted delivery - consignee not at home" (this was because I refused to pay the customs). I then asked for an immediate refund for the sunglasses, but am still waiting. They said that they have to contact the distribution centre again to recall the glasses and then refund me. They don't have to contact the distribution centre to charge customers for their purchases, so why do they need to contact them for a refund? The replies I receive from them are certainly not from South Africa! Even if it is not a scam (which I'm beginning to think it is after reading so many other bad reviews), their service is disgusting and it is totally unacceptable that I haven't yet been refunded.
