I'm not sure what the issue for these other reviewers is. I signed up for a free trial and they warned me that they would charge once the free trial was over. I got an email that they were going to charge me before they did. I kept the subscription because the classes on graphic design are much better than what I've seen on YouTube.
As everyone here, I was charged 96 after a two month trial. I'm a student in Greece, and I simply can't afford a 96 subscription. A notifying mail a week ago would be nice, since so many students here are put in a difficult position. I've e-mailed them but judging from the reviews here I'm doubtful that I'll get my money back. Please if you see this SkillShare support team, I would really like a refund, I can't simply afford this. Thank you.
Hi Anna — I hope you've heard back from our Support Team by now. If not, please send us a private message with your email address so we can make sure someone reaches out ASAP!
I expected serious or professional quality material, but instead found the classes I sampled to merely be YouTube level videos. As if some random jackass posts an IPhone video of themself making a cake. Geez, wholly unprofessional!
I was about to register on that webpage, but then I decided to look if it was a scam or not. Thanks to all these reviews I decided to better not do it and stay away from Skillshare the most I can. Thank you guys, you saved a soul. And remember that the moral of the story is to look on google if a webpage is a scam, ALWAYS.
They charged my account for 91. I can see that my story is no different from all this reviews. After sending them various e-mails and trying to reach them regarding my problem I got no answer at all. I never subscribed to this site and I explained my problem in all my e-mails and they are not answering. I'm a student and I can't afford this kind of money and especially for site I'm not going to use nor did I ever used it before. I'm hoping at least for the answer and explanation.
Hi Lana — You should have heard back from our Support Team by now! If not, please send us a private message with your email address and we'll be sure someone reaches out soon!
I was charged for $99 dollars without any notice that my free trial had run up. Plus I do not remember agreeing to a full year of charging for a membership I had no use for. I have sent a report in through their support ticket system and have not heard back yet. I better get my money back. Would not recommend this service.
Hi Jupiter — I hope you've heard back from our Support Team by now! If not, please send us a private message here with your email address, and we'll make sure someone gets back to you ASAP.
I had also been charged with 99USD for annual subscription. I sent them email requesting refund, they turned out very responsive. I just get my money back in my bank account. For customer support care I am giving them 5 stars.
Thank you Skillshare.
Hi Jabbar — Thank you for updating your review to reflect your refund! We're glad to hear you had a good experience with Skillshare support.
Nov 16: Today I received an email that I will be refunded in next 10 business days.
Nov 15: I sign up for free trail and forget to remove my bank details. Yesterday, I received notification from my bank that I've been charged 100USD for annual subscription. I never opted to this plan. Please I want refund. I am a student and simply can't afford this at all.
Did anyone get refund?
Thanks.
There is no reason to charge for one year subscription automatically after trial. Why didn't they change this horrible policy after months of complaints and bad reviews?
Hi Brian — I hope you were able to get in touch with our Support Team at help@skillshare.com by now. If you haven't emailed us yet, please send us a message on SiteJabber with your email address, and we'll make sure someone reaches out soon!
How did these arseholes get my bank details? I never heard of Skillshare until I found they had taken money from my account.
Hi Jill — Sorry to hear about this! That sounds very strange. If you haven't yet, please write to our team at help@skillshare.com so they can investigate this for you.
Same as most of the complaints here, I got a free trial for 2 months and was charged for the full year because I forgot about it
Hi Thomas — Sorry to hear about this. Were you able to get in touch with our Support Team? If you haven't reached out yet, please send us a private message on SiteJabber with your email address, and we'll make sure someone contacts you soon.
I am a student and I live in Ghana so $99 is a lot to me. My phone got stolen that is why I was unable to unsubscribe. I've learned my lesson and be very cautious next time but I need the money back. They can't do this to me. I've only used the site once and I found out they didn't really have what I was looking for.
This is bad, they should give us some kind of warning and a better way to assure us of refund. I have contacted there support mail but all I received was that they've acknowledged my complaint and would get back to me as soon as possible. I'm pleading, I can't afford it please
Hi Mukhtar — Thank you for writing in to our Support Team, and I'm sorry to hear about the trouble! You should have received a response by now, but if you haven't, please send us a private message with your email address on SiteJabber. We'll make sure someone reaches out to you soon!
I just got charger $99 (like 90% of people here in the comments), without any notice... I didn't remember to cancel it because I almost didn't visit the site at some point, I just really didn't expect they would charge without telling me anything...
I'm a Brazillian, so I'll be charger 4x the original price in Reais.
I really need a refund, please, otherwise I'm gonna be in serious trouble!
Hi Beatriz — Sorry about the trouble! I hope you were able to get in touch with Support by now, but if not, please send us a private message on SiteJabber with your email address. We'll be sure someone reaches out to you soon.
Just look at all those comments! Rage everywhere. My story will sound very familiar..
I have created a trial account to check out some Illustrator tutorials, but was not convinced that I need a yearly subscription. Some time later my husband got me the subscription as a present, so I decided to keep the trial till it expires and switch to premium afterwards. NO EMAIL NOTIFICATION, nothing.. You have been charged. AWESOME! So I have contacted the support the same day, explaining that I already have a premium, I just need to use the code. No reply. I would really-really-really appreciate a refund.
Please, contact me. Best regards.
Hi Anastasia — Sorry to hear about this! I hope you've received a response from our team by now, but if this issue was never resolved, please feel free to send us a private message with your email address here. We'll make sure someone gets in touch!
I see a lot of bad reviews here and they're mainly about Skillshare's free trial, so I find that a bit unfair. It's okay if you forgot about the trial and what not, but it's not really fair to blame Skillshare and claim they're scammers because it slipped your mind. (I had to put the date on my phone calendar and on post it notes so *I* wouldn't forget myself).
After singing up for the trial, you can go straight to account settings, then payments and it'll show you how long your free trial will last and gives you the exact date of its expiration and it tells you that you will be charged $99.00 on that day.
A lot of sites have emails that can slip into your spam folder so it's always encouraged to check so you can correct that- so you also can't blame that solely on Skillshare.
Now onto the site itself. As you'll see on the website, Skillshare is a very nifty site that has videos that covers a wide variety of subjects and you'll have lots to choose from. Whatever you want, Skillshare probably has it! Check it out for yourself and see if there's anything that piques your interest! You can also see if there's any classes you can watch without needing a Premium which is also neat. I mainly came to Skillshare to look into art classes but I ended up getting sucked in and browsing through other videos such as freelance help and writing classes and a few self-help videos. It's like woah, a whole world just opens up before you once you start browsing. I think it's worth a shot!
Skillshare is getting a lot of unnecessary flak here when the blame falls partially on the consumer. When accepting a subscription from ANY website, it's up to you to remember it and to cancel it in time so you don't get charged. Every website is not going to tell you when it's almost over and you also can't depend on seeing that message in time even if they do tell you. Though I do believe if this is a big issue then Skillshare should look into it to help their reputation out. But, if you do decide to accept the trial, take it upon yourself to be extra cautious and put reminders around so you can remember! (From time to time, there's also good deals like 3 months of Premium for 99 cents, so keep an eye out for that too!)
Hi Nakia — Thanks for your review! It's great to hear that you've found such a variety of helpful classes on Skillshare. Happy learning!
Edit: Oct 31 - I checked my Citibank Statement online and thankfully got the refund back. (Guys, just email them and explain your circumstance. They can be really considerate.)
Edit: Oct 29 7:38PM (Philippine Time) - I received an email from them that refund is now being processed and would take at most 10 business days to reflect in my bank statement. Thank God! Will update once it is OFFICIALLY refunded.
---
I got charged for an annual premium membership yesterday. I have to admit I did forget to cancel the free trial before it expired, but you should've at least notified at least a week prior that free trial is ending soon as proper courtesy just like any other good companies do.
I've read bad reviews from people sharing the same experience and I do believe Skillshare has to do something about this already. I emailed your Support Team as soon as I got the notification that I was charged but haven't heard from them until now. It would have been nice if you have provided a hotline number so I can directly contact you for the concern.
I called the bank and was informed that the amount is still floating and would take 14 days before you can officially charge it to my account, so I was hoping a full refund is still feasible.
Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Hi Nikkiyah — I'm glad to hear you were able to work out this issue with our Support Team! And thank you for updating your rating to reflect your refund. :)
Same as everybody here, I was charged 99$ for a full 1 year membership because I forgot to cancel my payment during the 2-month trial period. I sent them an email within the next 2 hours of the charge explaining that I have no wish of further using their service and requesting a refund. In less than a day, I got a reply saying that everything is ok, that I am getting my money back and besides that, I was offered a 30% discount for a 1 year membership if I ever reconsider signing back.
I cannot understand all this hate Skillshare since they are very reasonable people and will refund your money in the end even if it is your fault, at least partially, for not cancelling the payment during the 2 month trial. I am definitely considering about buying a membership sometime.
Hi Andrei — Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm glad to hear you were able to work this out with our Support Team. Hope you'll consider using that 30% off discount to sign up again soon!
I know that the deadline for free access expired and i got charged without any warning or at least an email or something. It's my own fault for not looking up at least some information about this site before giving them my credit card information.
But! As a student, I don't have a lot of money and would really want to eat something this month that isn't bread and water.
You could at least tell me is there any way to pay this stuff monthly or something.
It would be really nice to at least get some feedback information if I can at least try to cancel that and get my money back because I still have a year left and I haven't even watched any course.
Hi Marko — It sounds like our Support Team can help you out. Please write to us at help@skillshare.com so we can take a closer look at your situation.
Look at the other reviews. Simply put, they warn you they're going to charge you after they charge you. Super shady practice, I better get my money back.
Hi Brett — We'd be happy to help you out. If you haven't yet, please reach out to our Support Team at help@skillshare.com. If you wrote in and haven't heard back, please send me a private message here with your email address, and I'll make sure someone on our team contacts you soon.
I signed up for this terrible company because of some youtube tutorial for Illustrator. After making the mistake of providing billing information and signing up, I did not find the tutorial useful at all and immediately cancelled my account to prevent any charges.
I suddenly get an email letting me know that they have charged $99 for a yearly subscription yesterday with no prior warning at all. I have not been paid yet this week and had a lot of unexpected expenses this month so now my account is almost drained thanks to them.
No word from support and, after reading all the 1 star reviews across multiple sites it seems they only respond if you post a bad review here.
I will never sign up for another company that requires billing information for a "free" trial. I am on the phone with my bank to try to explain the shady practice of this company and try to get the charge cancelled so I don't have to be down $100 for the next month.
I contacted my bank and they said after it posts they can take care of it and put a stop payment on any future charges given the shadiness of Skillshare and other companies like them that they continue to see more and more of.
GREAT WAY TO GET NEW CUSTOMERS GUYS!

I had signed up for skillshare for the free 2 month trial. I was charged 99 dollars that I don't have immediately after the trial ended. I know this happens but why isn't there a reminder? I had cancelled my premium membership but it seems that I am still being charged a full year. I only signing up for the trial to try skillshare but now, I am 99 dollars. I have contacted skillshare's email before. 4 times. And was replied with the "our team will get back to you as soon as possible" it could be true but I have checked, I waited for a lot but I have received no reply from anyone from their team. I have never felt so cheated and I asked for a refund in all the emails.
