“Good gift”

My niece has been pestering me to get a gift that would blow her mind and I have been looking for the most suitable gift for her. My friend at work told me about this toy and I was wondering how this would operate. After checking a few websites about it, I got it for my little ruckus and she absolutely loves it. It has been 3 months since I got it and she sends me pictures of what she made regularly.

“Not worth the money for a machine that dies within 100 prints...AVOID”

I bought a Toybox from my daughter, and she loved it at first. As an avid 3d printer, this would be a good gateway machine for her. It made ok prints. Nothing to write home about, but she liked it, and it was easy for her to browse the catalog looking for cool things. Most of which are scaled-down things of Thingiverse etc. It lasted about a year of light printing when the extruder gear stripped and made the printer useless. This is cheap and easy to replace with a small screwdriver and allen key. They would not sell the part to me. So essentially, I have a useless paperweight. Their response was neither apologetic nor offered any discount on a new one, etc. ( Not that I would waste my money). They offered me to ship my otherwise perfect printer (minus one extruder gear) back to them, and they would "recycle" it. Meaning they would strip it of all the working parts. I was very disappointed in the prints' quality and the printer's longevity, especially at this price point. I consider many other printers entry-level for about the same money or less. I ended up replacing the extruder gear independently, and it still has many extrusion problems. Although the interface and app make 3d printing super simple and fun for kids, I can't recommend it as the warranty and customer service were subpar at best. The quality of the machine seems reasonable, but it's made of really cheap parts that will wear out in about 100 prints.
